Chapter 2: The Discovery

As the sun rose over the horizon, casting a warm glow across the island, Alice, Josh, and Elodie set out to explore their new surroundings. The air was thick with humidity, and the dense foliage of the jungle loomed ominously ahead.

"We need to find shelter and figure out where we are," Josh said, his voice determined despite the uncertainty.

Alice nodded in agreement, her heart pounding with a mixture of fear and excitement. With Elodie trotting faithfully by their side, they ventured into the jungle, the sound of exotic birds and rustling leaves filling the air.

After what felt like hours of trudging through the dense undergrowth, they stumbled upon a clearing in the jungle. Nestled within the clearing was a small, dilapidated hut, its thatched roof barely holding together.

"Maybe someone lives here," Alice suggested hopefully, her eyes scanning the hut for any signs of life.

Josh approached cautiously, his senses on high alert. As he pushed open the creaking door, a musty smell washed over them, mingling with the scent of damp earth.

The interior of the hut was dimly lit, with shafts of sunlight streaming through the cracks in the walls. Dust motes danced in the air, swirling around as they explored the small space.

"Looks like it's been abandoned for a while," Josh remarked, his voice echoing in the silence.

Alice nodded, her mind racing with questions. Who had lived here? And where had they gone?

Their search revealed little more than a few scattered belongings—a tattered blanket, a rusty knife, and a pile of weathered books. But as Alice sifted through the books, one caught her eye—a leather-bound journal, its pages yellowed with age.

Curiosity piqued, she flipped open the journal and began to read aloud, her voice filling the quiet space.

"Day 1: I have arrived on this island, drawn by rumors of hidden treasures and ancient mysteries. Little did I know the dangers that awaited me…"

As she read on, Alice felt a shiver run down her spine. It seemed they were not the first to discover this island, and there were secrets hidden within its depths waiting to be uncovered.
