Chapter 2: Timeskip

It's been two years since Beru arrived in earth. He is happily living with his pseudo mother, Jessica, who take care of him like his own son. For all those two years of living with Beru, Jessica was slowly opening herself to Beru, thinming that her life is changing for the better when Beru arrived in her life.

Today, Jessica is walking around the city with Beru to enroll him to a hell called school. A place where children make friends and study, since Beru is mostly living with Jessica for his whole life. He is quite shy to the other kids around his age which is understandable.

" Mother, where are we going? I don't like it here, it is noisy and there are many people around" Beru shyly said, nervously looking at his surrounding full of different people walking.

" Well, we are going to a school. A place where you can make friends around your age, Beru" Jessica said. Curious how she knows his name? Beru kept repeating his name everytime he speak when he was a baby, thus Jessica gave him the name Beru.

They arrived at the school called west star university. Arriving inside the principal office, the principal let them in.

" Miss Jessica, right? So, this must be your son, Beru? How old are you, Beru?" Smiling kindly, the principal asked Beru who timidly show his three finger and said.

" I.. I am three years old!" With a loud voice, Beru said. The principal laughed lightly, making Beru covered his face in embarrassment.

" I see, you are a smart fellow, Beru. Well, here's some candy for you. Right, you are here to get Beru here to enroll in KG, right? You'll just have to fill this admission paper and your good to go. No need to worry about the payment as kindergarten is free." The principal said, Jessica thanked him and fill up the admission form that would enroll Beru.

As for Beru, he is curious around his surrounding. Picking some random book, he picked a book that was titled Human Biology. A book that tells him about the biology of a human behavior, origin, anatomy, etc.

Beru kept reading the book as his mind quickly adapted to the knowledge of the Human Biology, he kept reading the book that he didn't notice Jessica and the Principal is looking at him. They were confused by Beru's interest in book that is quite a high class for Beru to understand at his current age but when Beru stop reading and memorize the book easily. The principal was a little shocked by Beru while Jessica is shocked by Beru's capabilities of memorizing.

" How did you? Did you memorize this book in just a single read, Beru? " Jessica grip Beru's wrist and asked him, scaring Beru.

" Ye.Yeah? Did I do something bad, mother? Am I getting punished?" Beru said, his eyes getting puffy.

" No! You didn't do anything wrong, Beru... I was just amazed by your genius intellect. You are a genius, Beru! I am proud of you" Jessica hugged Beru tightly, but not tight enough ;)

" Re...Really? Am I awesome, mother?" Beru said with his bright innocent eyes shining through.

" Yes, yes you are my baby. You are a genius and mom is proud of you" Jessica said, excitement was hinted in her voice.

" It seems that your son, Beru is quite a genius. I think we should put him to grade 1, that's all I can do as the age gap would mean that Beru might get bullied by his seniors if I put him around 5th grade or higher" The principal said enthusiastically, witnessing a genius in front of his eyes to hearing it is different. Thankfully, he is smart enough to know the behavior of the kids or else, they might bully Beru who is three years old because of jealously.

" This... Well, if Beru wants to. Do you want to be in 1st grade, Beru? Just know that they are older than you and they might not like you as you are still little. If you don't want to, we will cancel it and instead, I will look for someone to home school you" Jessica said to Beru who was looking at her and the principal time to time. Beru noticed that Jessica is worried about him while the principal is anticipating for him to accept. Knowing who to pick, Beru picked the suggestion of Jessica instead, making the principal sigh in defeat but all in all, it is a win win situation, he witness a genius while Beru would be safe on his house, getting homeschooled.

" Well, it seems that little Beru has decided to be homeschooled, I can suggest you to some of my colleagues who might agree. Here's the contact numbers, you can talk to them. Nice meeting you, little genius." The principal said, Jessica profusely thanked the principal as they walked out of the school.

" A genius... Who would win between him and Dr. Brief, the founder of capsule. A revolutionary tech that changes the life of earth. Well, I can't fathom their wide intellect and I am not smart enough to think about it." The principal said, drinking his unfinished warm tea.

In the house of Jessica, Beru is currently looking at the tv, watching cartoons as he laughed happily. Posing time to time, Jessica was cooking their food.

" Are you happy to know how genius you are my sweet little angel?" Jessica smiled, Beru looked at her before contemplating.

" Hmm, no. I don't like studying but since mother like it, I will do as you say" Beru said, smiling at Jessica.

" Aw, you're really my baby I raised. Come here and hug mommy" Jessica said, Beru happily jump to Jessica's embrace and hugged her.

Suddenly, Jessica coughed blood. Her face becoming pale, Beru was shocked and worriedly asked.

" Mother!? Are you okay mother? Please tell me you are okay mother?" Beru worriedly asked, looking around to find something to help Jessica.

" I am okay, Beru. *Cough* Looks like I don't have enough time to be with you, my son. Call this number and they will immediately come here to help your mom" Jessica weakly said, putting her hands to Beru's cheeks.

Beru who was handed a number, immediately type it at a fast speed while his face is covered in tears and sweat. The phone was answered and Beru frantically told the situation about Jessica's condition, the person from the other side told Beru that the ambulance will be on their way. Minutes later, an ambulance arrived at the scene at the right time. Beru told them the situation as they put Jessica in the van, Beru stubbornly tried to go with them that the medics let him inside.

They arrived in the hospital and Beru cried worriedly for Jessica who was his mother for 2 years which should be enough for a familial love for a child around his age to strengthen enough. A doctor asked if there is a family member of Jessica which Beru raise his hand, surprising the doctor how young Beru was. Despite being young, he has a resolute and hopeful look in him that makes the doctor treat him as mature enough.

" What's your name, kid?" The doctor softly asked Beru who hold his tears from falling.

" My *sniff* name is Beru, will mother be okay?" Beru asked.

" I see, brace yourself little one. Your mother, Jessica... Has a stage two ovarian cancer and it is nearing to 3rd stage. We have a cure for it but we don't know if she can survive the surgery she'll undergo. It seems that she is the only guardian that take care of you, I have to ask you if you want us to proceed this operation. We will give you 20 years to pay us the money for this surgery. Just know that we won't know if she can survive and it is not a 100% survival rate. Since you are her only family, do you want us to proceed?" The doctor truthfully said. He didn't even sugarcoat his words to Beru and told him the truth.

" Will my mother really die if this operation won't succeed?" Beru hold his tears and asked him again.

" Yes, but she has a chance to survive if you allow us to do surgery at her." The doctor said.

" Then... Do it! I want you to make sure my mother will survive this or else... Or else!" Beru said, his eyes shining lightly before it dissapeared almost immediately.

" Of course, we will do our best to make sure your mom will survive kid, we are doctors and that's our job" He said before going to the surgery room to do his work, leaving Beru on his own, worried about Jessica.

A year had passed since then and the operation was successful but they are also in debt to the hospital. Thankfully, the doctor generously gave them 20 years to pay and since the red ribbon is backing Jessica up, they fully paid her surgery that make Beru feel he was indebted to the red ribbon army. He is now 4 years old and he is staying at the red ribbon army to study. Of course, Jessica is with him since he don't want to be separated from her. He finished grade 8 and now he is in 9th grade, which means it only took him a year to reach grade 9 and if he wanted to, he could be in college level right now if he focuses all of his attention to studying but since he sometimes get tired of it, he won't study anything at all and become stubborn.

" Beru, are you playing games again? You should go outside and play with the kids or do you have a crush and it makes you embarrassed to go outside" Jessica cheekily teased Beru who was playing at his video games.

" Mom! Stop teasing me, I am old enough to not fall from that type of tricks" Beru pouted and focuses to his video games again.

" Oh! Are you giving me that attitude huh... How dare you! I shall punish you with my ticklish monster hand. Get ready, Beru" Jessica showed her hand and Beru was horrified as he tried to run but the universe law didn't let him escape from Jessica's hand. He was tickled for minutes until Jessica stop tickling him, Jessica and Beru was out of breath from their play. But they laughed as Jessica looked at Beru tenderly and said.

" You know, my son... I am thankful that you've come to my life. If you haven't, I don't know how my future would go, I might die from the cancer but because of you, I survive. I am really thankful to the God who gave me this awesome genius child who's also stubborn if he wanted to. Right, I almost forgot. The food is finished, let's go and eat our fill." Jessica said, standing up.

" No mother, I am the one who's thankful. Thank you for being my mother" Beru said and hugged her mother. Jessica smiled as she hugged him back.
