Zack stood motionless by the door to his bedroom.
Gabe's hands trembled for a second, but by the next one, he launched himself at Zack with every intention of punching him.
"HEY!" Said the police officer who came out of nowhere to stand between the man who was running and the man who was frozen in his place, his hands ready on his gun. "YOU TWO! PUT YOUR HANDS WHERE I CAN SEE THEM!" He shouted, meaning both, Gabe and Valentine, but judging by the looks of it, the policeman was far warier of Valentine assessing that he posed the greater danger in the situation.
His hunch was correct.
"I own this building," there was a strange combination of arrogance and disturbance in his voice.
