"No, Alek! I am asking for the reason why you hate it. Not asking if you hate it or not" Mara asked with a tightened frown, completely losing her patience. "I-I can't say it" Alek lowered his head, acting like a kitten who was scared to face his owner after creating the chao.
A sigh escaped the young woman's lips. She just could not reply, the words were nowhere to be found. She could not scold this man too. "Alright, I forgive you, Alek. So just sit back and let's continue the dinner" the young woman shrugged away the thoughts.
She just could not scold this man like a fifty years old woman. She would let this one slide since she did not mind because she was not the one who lost the puppy. But that did not mean she was heartless, ofc, she still felt a little mad to hear like that from the man.
The young woman's words made the man smiled. Alek looked up at Mara with softened eyes as a small smile was seen on his face. "Thank you, Mara" the man stood up from the floor and pulled the young woman into his arms, completely stunning Mara.
He could make the young woman's heart flutter with the sudden hug. His broad chest and hard abs pressed onto the young woman's body. He tightened the grip and thanked her. Mara gulped, she could feel the warmth and hard abs on her belly. 'I swear, I ain't no simp'
She refused to admit. Which woman would not simp for hot men? Since she was in the novel, everyone was going to be perfect as hell. She knew it. Even the second male lead of this novel was handsome and hot like hell. Mara broke the hug with a smile.
"You better sit down or else my stomach is going to mad at you" the young woman's words made Alek chuckled in satisfaction. "I understand, my lady" he sat across the young woman and continued the dinner. He did not even touch the food.
He only drank the beer while a small smile was seen on his face. He could not take his eyes off from the young woman who was eating elegantly. The way she chewed the food and drank the wine, the way her face showed the coldness, they drove the man crazy.
"Aren't you going to eat?"
Mara furrowed her brows at the sight of Alek staring at her with a small smile, not eating the food. "No, I am already full" "Then why did you order? It is going to be wasted, do you want me to finish that for you?" Mara asked with furrowed eyebrows.
"As you like, do whatever you want" Alek spoke. 'He sounds like a sweet boyfriend' the young woman spoke in her mind as she took the plate from the man. Since the food was really expensive, she should not waste the food so she had to finish it. "Then I will finish this"
She said with a small smile, Alek nodded. He let the young woman do whatever she wanted. He never stopped the young woman from doing something. If she wanted it, he would do it without hesitating. He could even give his life if she wanted.
They two enjoyed the dinner. "Do you like the food from here?" Alek questioned as they two went into the elevator. There was a couple in the elevator, looking at Aleksander and Mara shamelessly. "Mmm, I like it honestly" the young woman answered.
"Isn't that Aleksander Flynn?" The woman questioned as she tightened her grip on the man's arm. "Yes, it is him" "Then who the heck is that woman beside him?!" "I don't know, I have never seen her before. Maybe she is his hidden girlfriend?"
"No, I don't think so. I think it is his friend or something" "Why do you care about him that much anyway? I am your boyfriend! Look at me only!" "Shut up! Aleksander is the interesting man! Ofc, I want to know who that woman is"
The couple whispered.
The elevator was in silence so their whispers were loud enough for the Alek and Mara to hear. They annoyed the young woman. They were talking as if they only existed in this elevator. The young woman gritted her teeth and inhaled a sharp breath.
"Can't you mind your own business for awhile?" Mara turned around at the couple who were watching her and Alek from the side. Her honey brown fox eyes were showing annoyance. Her cold face was making the couple quiver.
The couple quickly looked away in shame. They avoided to make an eye contact with Aleksander and Mara. Alek looked at the couple which made the young woman annoyed. His electric blue eyes had filled with flames again. A tightened frown was seen on his face.
Alek looked at the young woman who was staring at the couple. It seemed like she could freeze the whole world with those cold sharp honey brown fox eyes. He gulped, finding it extremely attractive. "Do you want me to kick them out?"
Alek asked the young woman, he was telling her that she could do anything if she wanted. It sounded really romantic for the couple who were listening to the two. Mara did not respond, she stared at the couple for a second. Her eyebrow rose.
"Nah, I don't have time to care about them" Mara turned around and ignored the problem. Her cold and sharp reply made the couple looked down and gritted their teeth in frustration. They felt humiliated. "As you like"
Alek replied with a small smile and stepped out of the elevator with the young woman. He did not even bother to care about the couple, he was busy reading the young woman's expressions which hid many meanings.
His small smile shocked the couple who were watching the two. It was the first time they had seen his smile. Aleksander had never smiled for once even in the picture. So who was the young woman who made him smile like a normal person?
"Thank you"
Mara thanked the man who opened the car door for her like a gentleman. Alek only smiled and closed the car door. He sat down at the driver seat and started the engine. "Where do you want to go?" Alek asked as his electric blue eyes were focused on Mara.
"Home" Mara's short and sharp answer made the car fell into silence. "Why are you looking at me with those eyes?" the young woman furrowed her brows at the sight of Alek's stare. He was clearly telling that he was not satisfy with the answer.
"Do you really want to go back to your home only?" Alek questioned with a frown. "Yea, it is getting late. It is inappropriate for the young woman like me and you to hang out at this time" Mara stated the truth with a stone face.
"You know, you can tell me to drive to wherever you want. I am willing to do everything" Alek spoke as the young woman blinked twice in surprise. Why could she see the imaginal dog ears on Alek's head? Her imagination was going too far.
"T-Thanks, but I really want to go home right now" she answered with an awkward smile. She had to rest early for tomorrow. She had to work for all day tomorrow. So she needed beauty sleep. "I understand, it is your choice"
Mara nodded with a smile.
On the way back to Mara's house, the whole car was in silence. Even their breathing sounds could be heard. 'Why are things turning out like this?! I hate the awkward silence, gosh' the young woman furrowed her brows.
She looked out of the car window as the boredom and annoyance were seen on her face. It felt really uncomfortable for her when there was an awkward silence. Whenever she met awkward silence, she broke it with a deep sigh or got out from there.
"Is this your house?" Alek spoke as he raised his eyebrow at the house. They had arrived to the young woman's house. "Ah yes, you can stop here" Mara spoke and straightened her back when she realized that she had already arrived to her home.
"Thank you for the dinner, I really enjoyed it a lot. See you" Mara smiled as she grabbed the car's handle to open the door. "Wait!" Alek seized the young woman's hand. "W-what is it?" the sudden action of the man startled Mara.
"Can we meet again?" Alek questioned, asking for permission like a five years old child. "Yes, ofc! We are friends after all" the young woman spoke with a smile. She acknowledged the man as her friend or maybe more than friend.
"Oh, I see" Alek's lips formed into a small smile. He was not happy with the young woman's words but at least she still acknowledged him as a friend. Maybe it was better than enemy or stranger. "Then good night. Drive carefully"
Mara patted the man's shoulder with a smile and went out of the car. She walked into the house but stopped quickly ad turned around. Alek stared at the young woman who was waving her hand with a big smile, she stopped walking just to wave her hand at him.
His lips curved up into a small smile as his ears reddened like cherry. "She is too cute and too hot to handle, how am I supposed to stay calm in front of a beautiful woman like her?!" Alek facepalmed himself while his whole face was flushed like a tomato.
"Welcome, Miss!"
Lila greeted the young woman who just walked into the house with a smile. The Husky ran out from the kitchen to meet his owner. Mara's face lightened up at the sight of her dog, he could make her wear a big smile easily. "So did you have a good time with that lion, Miss?"
Lily asked with furrowed eyebrows. "What lion? Oh you mean Alek?" Mara chuckled in satisfaction. She found it amusing. "Alek? You are close with that man? No, most importantly, he let you call him like that?" Lila questioned with eyes widened in disbelief.
Mara nodded. "Oh my goodness! This is very unfair!" Lila frowned and went into the living room with her Miss. "I don't think so, I mean yes he looks little aggressive but in fact, he is a kind man!" Mara explained as she sat down on the lounge with the Husky.
"I get it now" Lily suddenly spoke. Lila and Mara looked at her with furrowed eyebrows, not understanding the girl's words. "He has a crush on you clearly" Lily said with a stone face, making the young woman choked on air. "*Cough* what the heck do you mean with that?!"
Actually, Mara noticed it. She noticed that Alek was treating her like a princess, no he was treating her like a queen. As a woman who knew how to play with men, she could easily guess why Alek was acting like that. Alek simply liked her.
She did not care about that because Alek liked the original Mara Athena who was weak and defenseless. Alek was going to lose interest after a few weeks when he finally realized that the young woman he knew was not the one he knew before. So she ignored it.
Mara did not want to play with Alek. She did not want to hurt him nor get hatred from him. Alek could kill her with his strong fists if he wanted, so it was better to stay as his friend instead of making the man hated her. That was how she believed for a moment.
She did not see the future completely.
