He looked at the categories on the content page of the book,
"Step 1: A special name"
"Step 2: Originality"
"Step 3: specific mana rhythm"
"Step 4: control"
"Step 5: increases bp"
"Author"
Reading the steps out loud, Evan was intrigued thinking,
"Why is there a whole category for 'A special name'" looking at it, Evan felt the author is quite eccentric. Turning the page he saw something else.
"What is a technique? A technique is a method of controlling mana in a specific mana rhythm to mimic the special abilities of A-rank adventurers. There was an A-rank hunter a long time ago, who was unsatisfied with just one ability bringing the birth of techniques. His name was Draco the nightmare hunter."
"Why a special name? All techniques because they are made to mimic special abilities they are fake abilities, and because their fake they can't be activated the same way as a special ability. Special abilities can be activated anytime and anywhere they require nothing to be activated. But techniques need something to call forth them, an activation word or pose."
As he read more details, he understood why this was a category on its own. He kept digesting the small information talking about how the names or poses work, the advantages, and disadvantages of using a name or a pose. And if using both of them, advantages and disadvantages in a battle. Soon after he had finished reading the whole step 1.
Heading to step two he read,
"Originality, A technique has to be original of course, and their advantages to that. If you create a technique it would be suited for you and you alone, though other people may be able to use it or understand it better than you, it won't change the fact that it's suited for you because when you create something it instinctively has to fit you to 'feel' right. And nobody is the same, so basing it on another technique wouldn't work. Its power won't be high and would just be a fake technique having no advantages and being anything but mediocre. The bonus of making a technique though is understanding the concept of creating a technique, and understanding your weapon fully to be able to create one whether theoretically or instinctively. Making you surpass people within the same ranks. The creator of techniques Draco was one of the strongest humans alive because he had techniques at that time but more of he understood his weapon to the pinnacle, becoming something called a 'saint' with this weapon, defeating others with a higher bp(battle power) than him. The difficulty of making a technique though is immeasurably hard unless you have good comprehension. "
Reading the bonus explanations downwards, he understood that this was talking about 'What isn't yours will never be yours'. And it seemed that by making a technique you were destined to surpass those that didn't. After an hour of digesting the concept of originality and a bit of thinking he went to step 3.
"Mana rhythm, This is where the magic happens. A mana rhythm is a specific way of controlling mana around you and depending on how you want it, it can be elemental or neutral, nothing is stronger than the other. Controlling mana strengthens you but with a technique, you can empower yourself more. A technique usually gives you a 5x increase in bp, one that you have a deep understanding of is a 10x increase, and one that you make is a 100x increase. That's the difference, between having a technique and why people with original techniques are stronger. By controlling the mana particles around you, you can do anything you can think of with it, using fire mana particles to create a small flame. Though albeit difficult because you have to maintain it and concentrate you have to be careful because it would explode."
"Ah", Evan understood more and more of the way mana worked. Sometimes having an explanation was better than nothing. Reading more about how mana rhythms exactly worked, he moved on to the next step.
"Control, Having control of the exact mana particles and being able to use them in an exact rhythm without anything changing or a small difference. To be able to control every small particle and circulating it around your area of control without having interference or being able to still control with an interference would a skill successfully be cast or used."
He kept reading, about mana particles as this book dived into a world of explanation making his understanding of mana a bit better than before. As pages flipped he soon stopped.
"No wonder this book was so expensive, it was worth it" he thought, going to the next step
"Increase bp, a technique you created even if they satisfied the previous conditions but do not increase bp does not qualify as a technique. Apart from the power boost of understanding your weapon and skill, the technique should amplify your power on top of that boosting your bp. With no boost in bp the technique can be considered a failure"
Reading the short information about it, he carried on to the other page with the title of the author.
"Hi, my name is Jake Peligro" Evan read as it just talked about the author of this book his achievements, and what he did.
"Oh he's still alive," he said as he saw the age 89 and when this book was made. Apparently Jake was a B-rank adventurer.
After finishing the whole book, he closed the book as he was deep in thought. Only for a short while after he looked out seeing it was already late at night, he went to sleep.
