Chapter 9: Valid

With a knot in his stomach, Jungkook felt little desire to eat the breakfast in front of him. Seokjin had been nice enough to make the both of them breakfast since today's appointment was so early and the others wouldn't be up for breakfast. So despite his lack of appetite, he managed to eat a decent amount.

"You're nervous," Seokjin stated. Jungkook looked up from his bowl confused, of course, he was nervous, but how did Seokjin know? Seeing the confusion gave a pointed look at Jungkook's bowl where he had been absentmindedly playing with the last bits of his food.

Jungkook couldn't bring himself to admit out loud that he was nervous about a doctor's appointment, knowing that it was a normal event for everyone else. All the kids got check-ups annually, but because there were so many of them they simply had a doctor come to them and set up in the nurse's office.

And if never going to a doctor's office wasn't enough to make him anxious he knew he would be in public and representing his mistress for the first time since he became hers.

Seokjin seemed to take Jungkook's silence as agreement and continued his meal. Steps sounded on the steps both turned to see their mistress enter. His mistress was so pretty, even in common clothes she seemed to exude the same air of authority and grace he had scene in their first meeting.

"Good morning, you two almost ready to head out?" His mistress greeted. Glad to have an excuse to end his pathetic acting, Jungkook nodded his head eagerly and stood to scrap his leftovers into the trash. There was only a small tinge of guilt as he thought about the wasted food and the fact that he had wasted Seokjin's good intentions.

The drive to the doctor's wasn't long, but it was silent. His mistress and Seokjin seemed comfortable with it so Jungkook remained silent as well. Having people around, but silent was strange. It wasn't bad though there was a certain comfort in the mutual agreement not to break the peace.

Once they parked his mistress broke the silence.

"I know that you have all returned the questionnaire I messaged you guys last night about what you will allow and won't allow me to do. And I will endeavor to follow them, but is there anything you didn't think of and would like to add now?"

Jungkook breathed out a sigh, he expected something bad after the but. Something like "But the ones you gave are impractical." or even "But you guys haven't earned that yet." She was far too kind to them. His Wardens wouldn't have approved. Or maybe they would have they seemed to think that as women there was nothing they could do wrong.

His mistress had sent out a questionnaire claiming it would be easier and less pressure for them to fill it out in their own time without her directly in front of them like with Hoseok and Yoongi.

"What about you, Jungkook?" Jungkook felt a shiver down his spine as his mistress said his name momentarily forgetting that his mistress had asked him a question.

"I have nothing to add Mistress." Jungkook stammered out. His heart pounded against his ribcage as she looked at him in the mirror her eyebrows furrowed and the corner of her lips downturned.

"It's time to head in." Seokjin interrupted. When his mistress looked at the time and began grabbing their files Jungkook sent a grateful smile to Seokjin for the timely rescue.

Walking into the office and finding a seat wasn't as nerve-wracking as Jungkook anticipated it being. His entire focus just being on the next step and following the people he was with. However when he sat down in between Seokjin and their mistress he began to realize what Hoseok had been mentioning.

There were about eight other people in the waiting room all scattered out pretty evenly. The two other men in the waiting room were fine, but the females all kept looking at them. And despite Jungkook usually being socially inept he knew these were not friendly looks.

Some of them were clearly disgust and disapproval however the ones that unsettled him more were predatory in nature. Hungry and lustful looks that made him feel like nothing more than a choice slab of pig to be divvied up among its buyers.

Trying to get away from the looks he looked down at his lap, but a low grunt caused him to glance up once more. And he froze when his gaze locked with the woman who had issued the noise, she was middle-aged old enough to be his mother. Her gaze held him despite the fact that he wanted nothing more than to look away.

Slowly bringing her hands of her the woman maintained eye contact as she made a gesture that took a second to register. As the horror sunk in Jungkook was finally able to jerk his gaze away, his cheeks and ears flushing red.

And then the woman laughed, she thought it was funny. His wide-eyed, horrified expression and blush of mortification at being randomly brought into a sexual act were a cause of amusement. He felt sick.

He tried to tell himself that this was nothing nobody else had seemed bothered by it. His reactions were unwarranted and obviously encouraged the behavior. He needed to get himself under control.

Jungkook didn't remember much about the rest of the appointment, he did as he was told when he was told, but everything seemed muted. Everything except that one instant. It was vivid and recurring.

Things only started to come more into focus on the drive home. The ride was silent, but this time it didn't feel comfortable, it felt off. Like there shouldn't be silence. Like he should say something. Like that moment, his feelings and reactions deserved to be aired.

There was an ache somewhere for him to just ask if this was normal and if he should be feeling this way. He needed to know if his feelings were valid or if this was just another form of culture shock.
