✓ The Weekend Trip II

It was afternoon and everyone except Nico, Xander and me were in a lake by the cabinet. Xander was clicking pictures of everyone and the surrounding. I didn’t feel like going into the water so I sat at the edge watching everyone.

“Adi can you grab a beer box from inside?” Michael called out

“Why are you asking her, go by yourself.” Aiden said

“I’m all drenched, it would get the inside dirty and she is sitting outside that’s the reason I asked her.”

“You should say you don’t want to get your lazy ass out of water.” Xander said from the opposite side.

“I’ll grab the beer box.” I said before Michael could reply to him.

“Thanks”

I got up patting away the dirt from my clothes and heading towards the cabin. It's so calming here though it's a bit cold. I took my time walking up to the back of the cabin. I decided to make myself a sandwich. I was feeling a bit hungry, not much just a chocolate sandwich.

I walked towards the living room and found Nico sitting there on the couch in his sweatpants and a white t-shirt. His legs resting on a coffee table with a laptop and a cup of coffee beside him.

I sat beside him bringing my legs up on the couch and offered him the sandwich. He looked up from his laptop at me then at the plate taking a piece and muttering a thank you, he went back to his work.

“Are you completing work?” I asked

“Yeah, some reports I have to look out for next month.”

“If it's next month you can't complete it later. Why not come outside us right now?”

“No, I don’t like to swim out. I’m good.”

“Who is asking you to come out for a swim? I also didn’t go for a swim. We can sit outside.”

“Then it doesn’t matter if I sit inside or outside.” He said while looking at me.

“You are always with your work. You should go out and enjoy the surroundings. It's not necessary to do things you don’t like. You can sit around watching others quarrel and laugh at their lame jokes. You should go out and make memories so when you look back you can think of all of this and not just busy work life.” I explained.

“Yeah.” That’s all he said before going back to his laptop.

What the hell, I wasn’t giving a lecture in college.

“Hey, were you listing?” I was not just babbling. It was for you to come out and enjoy it.” I said snapping fingers in front of his screen to catch his attention.

“Fine, I’ll be there. I have to complete this.” He said with a sigh.

“How long will it take?”

“An hour”

“An hour! It will get dark outside till then it will be of no use. You need to join us now.” I said firmly.

“Okay, let me finish this.”

“I’ll wait for you till I wash this dish and get a box of beer.” I said getting up.

“Sure ma’am”

I walked back to the kitchen smiling at what he said and shaking my head. I washed the dish and cup, putting them back in their place. Then pulled a beer box and placed it on the kitchen table.

“Are you done yet?” I asked Nico

“Yup” he said, popping the ‘p’ as he closes his laptop and putting it away safely.

He comes towards me taking the beer box from the table and walking out. I followed him out with some snacks. I knew I took a long time to come back so it was for shutting their mouths up.

“Wow, I thought I thought you ditched us Nico.” Ace said as we neared them.

“I almost did if it wasn’t for her.” He replied nodding his head towards me.

“Good she saved you, or we were planning to-”

“DON'T!” Xander shouted stopping Will “don’t tell him we can use it next time if something like this comes up again.” Xander said as everyone agreed to him.

Nico looked at me hoping to know what was going. But I myself didn’t know what was going on. I just shrugged while placing the snacks I got on the blanket that was spread out on the ground. And sat on a beach chair kept nearby with a chocolate bar. Am I eating too much? I feel like I am.

Everyone started getting out of the water to eat and drink. D and Cal walked away as soon as they got out, something was not right. I was going to go after them but for a short while when my eyes met with D and she gave me a faded smile. And the look on Cal's face was enough to stop me, I’ll talk to them later.

“Why did you just bring the chips? There were other snacks too.” Josh said I turned my attention from Cal and D back to the talk.

“I brought what I found, you should get it yourself if you want anything more.” I said.

“Leave other things for later or do you want to complete everything in one go.” Jeremy said to Josh

“Would you like to have something?” Enzo asked, pointing to the food placed in the middle with everyone surrounding it.

“Just bear” I said after all I have already eaten enough.

“Here” Ace said as he passed me the beer.

As I sip on my beer I looked to where all were sitting. Valerie was sitting beside Nico talking and clinging to him. I could see him frowning. I don’t like the sight of this. Something about Valerie irritates me. It's not as she acts all good to me too she always makes this face and glares at me and not to mention the scar scams she always gives, it makes me want to cut her tongue and pull her eyeballs out.

‘I hope she gets lost in this woods.’

“I hope so too.” Xander said sitting beside me with a beer can in one hand and his camera in the other.

I gave him a confused look. What is he talking about?

“What?” I asked. I didn't say it out loud, did I?

“The idea of yours for V to get lost in the woods. I’m with you too but I feel sorry for poor animals.” I couldn’t help but laugh at his word.

“Why don’t you like her?” I asked him as I resorted back from laughing.

“I just don’t like the way she acts. Only I know how I got her down from my back. She used to be like this with me too, I just pushed her away. Nico gets irritated with this but I don’t know why he doesn't get her away.” He said as we looked in the direction where they were sitting.

“But they seem close.”

Xander looked at me for a while then chuckled and said “No they aren’t she always acts this clingy with everyone even with Aiden. I told her not to do so with me on the face, Aiden always keeps his distance and Nico act indifferent. He usually doesn't speak to her, it's only her who does and he just replies to her also being cold. If they were to be close he would not act that way.”

“I can’t believe when you all show that you don’t like the way she acts, she still remains ignorant or she is really dumb.” I said shaking my head.

“Yeah I don’t understand her, but I know Nico he is not his usual cold self around you. He doesn't ignore you like he does to others and seems to be comfortable around you. I may not know what’s on his mind but I can say that ‘you’ are close to him even if you don’t consider.”
