Altering Skyrim

Rictus is given the choice of customizing his start in skyrim. He choices alteration magic as his skill of choice and starts in Whiterun in the Breeze home. Follow him as he figures out that this is not just like the game he once knew. Release 1 chapter every Thursday afternoon. This is basically just an idea I had where 18 people enter skyrim and each of them are given one of the skills from the game. They can level the skills just like the game making them learn it way faster than normal. As in maxing out a skill like alteration in just a couple days instead of years for normal people in the world. The other people will not be the focus of the story and some will not make it very long in a realistic Skyrim. LordValmar put together the cover art for me.

Start Up

[A/N]: It's come to my attention that I was unclear in the last chapter about something. The MC only has alteration magic as his skill. He got to pick his top 3 he wanted, but only received 1 of them.

A bright beam of unavoidable sunlight glared onto Rictus's face. Rubbing his face with his hands, he slowly fought his way out of his slumber and into the land of the living once more. 'That was one heck of a dream.' Looking around the room Rictus noticed that everything seemed to be in place. 'Grandfather always did love those iron great swords. No idea why he would put them above the headboard though. Seems a little risky to have 2 huge swords just sitting over your sleeping head. Nords are strange like that though…'

Staring hard at the swords caused a sense of confusion to stir within Rictus. 'Why would Grandaddy even have those come to think about it…he was only about 5 foot tall and preferred classic car posters to medieval swords. How did he even manage to get those monsters on the wall since they were both about as big as he was? I know Alabama is a little backwards, but this is taking it a little too far…'

A brightly glowing piece of paper on the end table interrupted Rictus train of thought. As he began to read, his confusion seemed to grow more and more.

Congratulations on your exciting new journey in Skyrim! There are a few things you should know before you enter the world.

1. As one of the Skilled, you will gain levels in whatever skill you possess just like your character would in The Elder Scrolls Skyrim. Anything else you want to learn will have to be done the hard way just like everyone else. Skills related to your Skill will level up much faster than normal, but with nowhere near your Skill. So for those who have a magic skill, you will be learn faster and be better at magic related skills than others. Those having a magic skill each get a soul bound grimoire they can summon to review their known spells in their Skill.

2. You will still gain the perks of your skill as soon as you reach that level and go to sleep the next day.

3. We have also decided to implement minions! You can name 1 minion every 10 skill levels. They will have greatly increased skill and learning in your Skill. You can get rid of your minion anytime you want or grant them minion status again if they bow down to your greatness. So hurry and level to make more Minions! (A minion or a hero cannot become the minion of another Skilled.)

4. There is NO respawning here. So try not to die or be eaten by trolls, or falmer, or vampires, or cannibals, or wolves, or skeevers, or dragons, or anything else really.

5. As your background memories are integrating into your consciousness you may experience any of the following: confusion, memory loss, bloody nose, cloudy vision, heart palpitations, depression, apathy, anger, violent behaviors, mental retardation, gaining a British accent, paranoia, slight sociopathic tendencies, or a catastrophic failure during the soul merging process resulting in spontaneous combustion and soul dissipation.

Good luck in your new world and have fun with it!

"…What the hell have I got myself into."

This one was basically just an information dump on how I imagine some of this will go. Does not mean that I won't go back and change it eventually. Just roughly what I was thinking.

If you read till here, I am just impressed. Go you.
