Monsters

Later at midnight, Allen got out of bed and got dressed in black clothes before leaving his room. After he left the hostel, he headed to a quiet place around the school where no one would like to venture and when he got there, he looked around and sighed.

"We talked of meeting at midnight but the idiot didn't tell me where we would be meeting," he said to himself. Just then, he heard the chuckle of someone and when he turned to see the person, something came flying toward in direction — it was aiming for his head. He quickly caught the thing in between his fingers and looked at it — the object was a red short pin.

"How were you able to see and catch that so easily?" The person behind the attack asked in amusement. "Oh, that's right. You are a creature of the night so seeing in the dark isn't a difficult thing for you."

Allen looked up from the pin and saw Nat, grinning from ear to ear. "Is this how you greet people?" He asked him, showing him the pin he had used to attack him.

"I knew you would catch it so I didn't mind attacking you with it," Nat replied and chuckled.

"What is this pin?" Allen ignored his words and asked him.

"I call it hypnotizing pin. I made it myself by using my energy and blood so that anyone that it gets driven into will completely be at my mercy, isn't it wonderful?" Nat replied, sounding happy and proud.

"I didn't know you could make something like this," Allen commented. "Talking about business, how did you know that I saw the pin?"

"Of course, you can. After all, you are a creature of the night," Nat replied and smiled seeing how shocked Allen was.

"How did you know?" Allen asked. "How do you tell that I'm not human?" He asked again. He just couldn't believe that someone would find out about his real identity so soon.

"Because I can smell you. That is one of the abilities given to me by nature, the ability to smell things, both living and non-living things. The moment I saw you, I smelt blood all over you and this could mean one thing, you are not human," Nat explained. Earlier when he had visited Allen, he intended to fight it out with him for hurting his girlfriend but as he approached his door, he didn't perceive the smell of a human rather, he smelt blood all over. At first, he thought it was his nose playing tricks on him but the moment he saw his eyes, he knew for sure that he was no human.

"Since you already know what I am, what next?" Allen asked him, staring at his face to read his facial expressions.

"Nothing, I am just like you so... I can't possibly tell anyone the secret," Nat replied.

"Just like me? What exactly are you?" Allen asked him.

"Take a guess," Nat said, smirking at Allen.

"I don't guess. Just go straight to the point and tell me what you are. Since you don't know my real identity, I might as well tell you what I am," Allen replied.

"Very well then, it's a good deal. I'm a demon, a demon by origin and not a turned one. So what are you?"

"Does that explain your multiple abilities?" Allen asked.

"You are trying to make me spill the beans without giving you a condition, right? Well, since we are the same, I might as well tell you without any condition. The answer to your question is yes. But not all demons can possess multiple abilities, the ones who can are called ' the chosen ' just like I am," Nat explained.

"I see... So tell me about your abilities, I mean all of them," Allen requested.

"I can control fire, I have the power to return things to how they were, I have the power to detect humans and non-humans by smell, I can use telepathy, and I can teleport... Now, that I've told you mine, how about you do the same?"

Allen smirked and began to talk. "Unlike you, I don't have many abilities. I only have a bite, enchant, and some basic skills to help me during fights."

"Enchant, is it sort of hypnotizing?" Nat asked him.

"Yeah, sort of," Allen replied. ' I feel that you are lying to me about your abilities, so how about I lie as well? Even when I know that lying isn't my thing. '

"Okay... Since we know too many secrets about each other, how about we become friends?" Nat asked Allen who smirked.

"Two monsters becoming friends?" He asked himself. "It sounds fun," he concluded.

"Then we give it a try," Nat said and brought out his hand for a shake. Allen stretched out his arm too and the two of them shook each other's hands for a while.

"Hey, aren't you curious to know what I really am?" Allen asked Nat after they were done shaking hands.

"To be honest, I am pretty curious to know what exactly you are but since you didn't tell me, I take it as you not wanting to tell me anything or that it isn't the right time to do so. Whatever, I'll respect your decision," Nat replied.

' I wonder why she still cheats on a guy like you. Girls... They can never be trusted ' Allen said inwardly while staring at Nat.

"Why are you staring at me that way?" Nat who felt uncomfortable with the way he was being stared at asked.

"Nothing, just curious a bit," Allen replied and looked elsewhere. After a while, he gazed at the dark sky and then back at Nat. "If there is nothing else, I'll be heading back to the hostel," he said to him and turned to leave.

"Matthew... Did you perhaps do something to him?" Nat asked him.

"Why do you ask?" Allen halted and turned around to face him again.

"Nothing, just curious why my half-brother would suddenly not want to tell anyone what happened between the both of you. I mean, it's so unlike him and he behaves like someone under a spell or something. Did you perhaps use your skill on him?" Nat explained and asked him.

"I did. What about it?" Allen replied.

"Hold on, take it easy," Nat said, seeing the way Allen was glaring at him. "I just perhaps want to know if you can help me a bit."

"What can I help you with?" Allen asked him.

"I'm into a marriage contract with my girlfriend but I'm not even interested in marrying her. Can you help me do something about it? I'm going to reward you big," Nat replied.

"How will you reward me?" Allen asked with a sinister smile on his face.

"Just do it for me because I have a hunch that you will be the only one to do that for me. I want her family to cancel the marriage by themselves," Nat replied.

"Very well then," Allen said and laughed inwardly.
