It was a beautiful morning. Today is a holiday for their team and of course, tomorrow is the day when their company's proposal is going to be accepted officially. She was desperate to go back home but until finishing her work here, she can't just leave Korea. After all, she is the team leader.
Though Kiera thought she could relax for today and go sightseeing, her brain was full of tension about tomorrow's meeting.
And also, that was not the only problem.
Kiera is a bit bad at directions when she is somewhere unfamiliar. She can't find a place with GPS if it's not familiar to her. So, that was the dead-end for her sightseeing plan.
But what can she do the whole day?
Should she spend her whole day staying in this hotel suite?
When her mind was going here and there thinking what can she do to spend this long day, a slight knock on the door was heard from outside.
Kiera looked at the wall clock. It was quite early in the morning and she didn't order any room service either. Who could it be, then?
She stood up to receive the door but when she opened the door, she found no one standing there.
"Hello? Did someone knock at the door?"
There was no response.
Strange. She did hear someone knock on the door clearly though. Whatever. If the person needs anything, they will come back for that. No one does pranks in the hotel, right? But it can be possible if there are any children staying in a room nearby.
But before she could close the door, it was grabbed by a strong, firm hand.
"You?"
"Ehh… ehehe… Yes… me heh. How are you?"
Ayan grinned like a fool. It has become kind of a habit of him to smile foolishly in front of her. Probably he had a shower a few minutes ago. His damp hair bangs were scattered over his forehead messily. Somehow it looked cute to Kiera.
"What are you up to?" Kiera inquired.
Ayan didn't answer. Instead of saying anything, he showed her some plastic bags he was carrying. It was food for sure.
Seeing those plastic bags, Kiera remembered she didn't have her breakfast too. The instant her realization came, her stomach started to growl shamelessly.
Damn, this is embarrassing!
Ayan pretended as if he didn't hear that considering her embarrassment and entered the suite without caring about her permission.
"And what does this supposed to mean?" Kiera asked again, crossing her hands over her chest.
"Nothing, just have some breakfast before scolding me," Ayan stated, making Kiera surprised.
"And why are you the one bringing me breakfast?"
"Uff… why do you always question everything? Fine, you owe me big time, so I thought I should at least treat you to breakfast at least. And you didn't have your breakfast too, so hurry up. It's getting cold." He said innocently.
He again grinned like a fool though there was no response to his smile. Did he look foolish or cute? Whatever…. Kiera doesn't know anything anymore.
People say it's better to listen to your stomach than your brain when you are hungry.
And somehow this boy didn't look harmful to her. So, she sat beside him on the couch while he was unpacking those packages.
Looking at her earnest expression, Ayan couldn't help but smile.
"Pfft!"
"Hey, why are you laughing?" Kiera frowned.
"Eh? Nothing! Just a joke came to my mind." Ayan played the innocent card again.
Kiera narrowed her eyes a little but didn't dwell on that much. She is VERY VERY hungry right now.
Suddenly a thought came to her mind.
"Hey, how did you know I was hungry. I didn't tell you so."
Ayan knew that as he was keeping an eye on her and saw no room service or anyone come to her room to deliver any food. It was quite predictable that she didn't eat anything for breakfast. But he just can't say that he was keeping his eyes on her like a stalker so he thought to make up something convincing.
"I didn't know you were, just coincidentally bought some extra food and thought to share with you. But after hearing your ermm…. I became sure that you were hungry." Ayan finished his sentence making a little break between the whole speech.
Kiera was both speechless and embarrassed, so she just started to untie packages as if she was in a hurry. Come to think of it, the noodles he bought tastes amazing. They say never miss to eat Korean spicy ramen when you get a chance to travel to Korea. Little did she know, it was cooked by the person she is sitting beside right now.
"Can I ask you a question?" Ayan tested his luck as he saw Kiera busy gobbling up the noodles he bought.
"As long as that is not anything unnecessary."
Ayan chuckled at her response. Being unaware of his own handsomeness whenever he smiled, he started to torment Kiera with his smile as he looked too beautiful to digest the charm of his for any single woman early in the morning.
"Can you tell me your name?" He asked expectantly.
"Is that important?"
"Of course, it is! How can someone communicate with a person without knowing their name?" Ayan sulked a bit.
Well, that was true. She did eat the breakfast which he bought for her. So, it would be rude if she didn't even tell him her name.
Actually, to think it clearly, it was not necessary to tell her real name though.
"Abby. you can call me Abby." Kiera just made a name as it came at first in her mind.
"I see... but it sounds like a nickname…"
"It is... Now stop dwelling on this and eat."
"No… I am just thinking calling you by your nickname would make us closer than we are, right?"
"..."
This guy, he is dumb or pretending to be dumb? But it can be otherwise like he is not actually interested in her real identity. Though he didn't look that nonchalant about it, he is so satisfied with just a nickname. Whatever, this's not her problem to think about. Whether he is curious about her or not, that is wholly his business.
Her trail of thought was interrupted as Ayan coughed to grab her attention.
"Wanna go out sightseeing?"
Kiera scratched her forehead as if she was in great thought.
"I am bad at directions."
"That's it?" Ayan chuckled.
"Isn't it a big deal?" Kiera was surprised by the remark as she thought he would mock or make fun of her for it.
"You think so?" Ayan threw another question over hers.
Kiera shook her head up to down. How can being bad at directions not be a big deal? Looking at her puzzled state Ayan understood what she was thinking of.
"Don't worry. What you need to do is follow me, that's it."
**** **** **** **** ****
Kiera following a stranger, this scenario was quite rare. She never showed her incapability ever to someone she knows let alone a stranger. Even after dating her for several years, Owen was unaware of this small information about her.
There was a time when Owen would set a date in an unfamiliar location to make things more romantic. Despite being romantic, it was somewhat bothersome to her. Those days, she somehow made it. But now remembering those affords she gave just to hide such a piece of shameful information about her which is not so shameful to be exact, all she could do is laugh.
Thinking about it, why didn't she tell him that she was bad at directions? This simple thing, it was not something that was very necessary to hide. Rather, she could always talk about these to him as he was her boyfriend. But she still hid it that time. Maybe disclosing too many weaknesses would make her weaker in front of him which she hated the most?
Like losing interest in each other? It kinda happens when you get to know your lover's all habits and secrets and lose your interest in her or him gradually, right?
But to think it clearly, they still didn't last at the end. So being careful and hiding one's true self isn't a solution to work things out.
The thing which is destined to break just breaks eventually. All we could do is look at its end and walk away for the next show.
