The four of them hired a big cab to the Malibu Memorial Park. The car was moving slowly. The sky was still clear, having a pink tint on it. It's going to be dark soon.
Strange. The other girls would be restless to go home before the dark if they were in the same situation as her. But she didn't feel the same. Life and circumstances, those two are something people can only experience personally. You actually can't know what's going on in the life of the person beside you no matter how close you are with them. The situation which occurs to everyone suddenly separates into various perspectives. To be honest, it has a little relation to that person's specific nature also.
How about they go for a tour on the beach after this? Won't it be more exciting?
The car stopped at the destination. They slowly walked towards the cemetery through the park. The wind was blowing slowly. Annabelle felt a little cold all of a sudden. Jaemin noticed it as he pulled off his jacket and wrapped her with it. This girl, she always makes him worry. Anna is a bit intolerable to the cold weather. She has liked the summer since she was little because, in summer, she doesn't feel cold. The other would always call her an alien, even wearing a jacket on rainy days.
"Why didn't you bring anything with you?"
Anna could see a little frown on his brows. She giggled but said nothing. Jaemin then gave up and started walking forward. He was walking to one corner of the cemetery where there was a giant mango tree. He stopped in front of a tombstone engraving the death's name into it.
"Here lies Miss Florence Matthews"
Jaemin sat on his knees before the tombstone, looking at the while marble with great interest, as if he was trying to understand how the whole thing was made. He then put some yellow tulips he bought a while ago below the tombstone.
The other three came forward and sat beside Jaemin.
"Hey, Mom. How are you? I missed you. These are my friends. They wanted to meet you," Jaemin said slowly as he was trying to restrain himself from crying in front of his friends.
"Aunty! I hope you are doing well in heaven. We are so happy to meet you," George said.
"Thanks for bringing a friend like Jaemin to this world, Aunt," Vincent said as he put a hand on Jaemin's shoulder. Jaemin rubbed that hand.
Anna was still looking at the tombstone. The tombstone had a little picture of Jaemin's mother attached to it. She was pretty indeed. Though Jaemin was quite handsome, he looked more like his father. She could guess that much as she has seen his father a few times.
Today was his mother's death anniversary. His father never visited her to this day as he still feels a bit afraid and guilty to meet his wife after so many years. Her death was not because of any disease. It was an accident. She wanted to learn driving from her husband. Jaemin's father helped her learn driving for a few months. On that very day, the weather was not that good. It had been raining since morning. Jaemin's mother insisted on learning the last lessons though her husband forbade her that day as she was almost there to fully master driving. Everything would have been perfect if that truck didn't come all of a sudden. Their car was run over by the truck before they could drive it into the safe corner. Jaemin's father's several ribs were broken and his mother died on the spot.
Though it was just a pure accident, still his father refused to believe that. He blamed himself for the whole mistake. Jaemin was only 6 then, unaware of the new world without a mother. But his father never made him feel the emptiness without a mother. What hurt Jaemin was his father's loneliness. He was the best father, if not for him, he wouldn't be standing here. But if his mother was alive now, dad wouldn't be feeling this lonely and living with this painful guilt.
Jaemin was as strong as his mother. He knew, if she was alive, she would have told him to hold himself together and support his father. It's one of the reasons Jaemin wants to make his father happy, the reason he was here today.
Although Anna was quite surprised to know that Jaemin finally agreed to take them to see his mother, she was happy to know that he was slowly opening up to them. After all, the three of them really hold an important part of his life. There was a time, he always acted like a cold senior to them. But now, they were the people he considers to be the dearest to him.
"Don't worry, Aunty. Jaemin is doing his best here. He has become a great student, a great wrestler, a great friend, and obviously a great son. Just bless him to be more successful in his life. We are here, always here by his side. We are never gonna separate. You can rest assured by giving his whole responsibility to us. Ain't I right?" Anna looked at George and Vincent while taking Jaemin's hand on her own, giving a little press on it.
Both of them nodded at her remark as they have already decided in their mind that they are going to be together like this forever.
Jaemin didn't say anything as he choked on his own words. This girl, and her talks, they were always able to make a great impact on him. She was always so good to him that he always desired to make all her love his and never share it with anybody. And here, this girl, thinking she is the one here who is not loved by others. How can anyone avoid loving someone like her?
All of a sudden, Jaemin hugged her tightly as she hugged him back, patting his head slowly. The other two were a bit taken aback but in the next second, they also jumped over them and hugged them tightly.
"Gahhh you fatties! You wanna kill me? Move! Gosh, I can't breathe!"
Though Anna was shouting like a mad girl, they didn't even move an inch. As if they didn't hear what she was saying.
After a long time, they finally separated each other from that tight embrace huffing and puffing for some air. Anna laid down on the bare grass as she looked at the sky. The sun was setting. It looked beautiful. The other guys also laid down beside her.
Suddenly she remembered a beautiful song. She thought it would suit this moment perfectly. At first, she was humming it but soon the four of them started to hum it together and it sounded a lot louder. Anna didn't care that much. She was happy, happy to be here at this wonderful moment. Living in the present moment, that's what every human should believe in. After going home, she will again have to go through the things she doesn't want to. But still, she has to pass those moments, because she knows, life is not only filled with happy moments. Some sad moments still overcast over your happy moments round and round.
"After this, wanna go to the beach?" Anna proposed all of a sudden. She wanted this moment to last longer for some reason. As if something very unpleasant was waiting for her at home.
"No," an instant negative answer came from Jaemin.
"Why not?" Anna started whining as she turned her head towards Jaemin who was lying just beside her.
"It's getting late, Little pie. you didn't tell at home that you will be late today, right?" Jaemin asked as he knew Anna very well.
Anna pouted a little because what Jaemin guessed was absolutely true but couldn't say anything.
"It's almost dark, Anna. They are gonna worry. Let's go there another time," Vincent tried to assure Anna as he was sad to see her pouty lips.
George also nodded in agreement. At least, they can't ruin their image as her best friends in front of her parents.
Anna twitched her brows hard as if she was very disappointed to go home this early but still decided not to argue with them. So, they got up after a few minutes and hired a cab to go home.
George and Vincent got out of the car as their home was before Anna and Jaemin. Jaemin dropped her first then told the driver to drive back home. But before going home, he patted Annabelle's head for the last time of the day and bade her goodbye. This little girl sometimes does things like adults though she never lives her life with a bit of maturity. Or else she wouldn't be having so many problems in her life by now. He always felt a bit displeased that he couldn't lessen the burden of her head although she was always there for them whenever they were in trouble. He wishes to make her happy one day so that she can always smile truly and radiantly; he really wishes that.
The car slowly vanished from her sight but Anna still kept looking at it. She was feeling so happy half an hour ago. Then why did she become so gloomy as soon as she came back to her own home?
Anna didn't move, she just stood there in the cold wind for a few minutes as if she was thinking something very deeply. Some letters were kept in the letterbox of the bungalow. Why didn't anyone in the house bring out those from the box yet?
Anna moved forward and pulled out all the letters but to her surprise, she found all the letters were sent to her.
Of course! Why would anyone in this house bother to take her letters?
She took those letters in her and found all of them sent from the same person.
Anna felt a bit frustrated. Doesn't she ever feel discouraged to write to her when she never gets any reply from her?
I poured some different kinds of feelings into this chapter.... TT
