Getting out

Lulu was unsure if she could even think in this moment, all she could feel was fear... immense fear that was at the back of her mind telling her that they were inevitably falling to their doom.

Of all the screams of terror, hers was extremely more present than Benjamin's. She did not even know what to do with herself, all she could do was scream as she felt herself being tossed to and fro.

She could not even think to try to balance herself or stop herself from getting seriously hurt. Benjamin on the other hand was quick to react and steady himself huddling in the corner of the elevator so he didn't go flying.

He quickly stretched out his hand and pulled Lulu towards him as he held her tight, hearing her screams of fear, all he could do was hope and pray internally that the elevator would stop soon.

As if his prayers were heard the elevator suddenly came to a dire stop that caused them to jerk up before being thrown to the ground.

Benjamin opened his eyes as he could feel that the elevator had stopped moving, he turned to look at Lulu who still had her eyes closed shut and she was still screaming from all the fear, it was clear to see that she had not noticed that they had stopped.

"Miss White, stop screaming, the elevator stopped." said Benjamin as he quickly got up and helped Lulu up as she opened her eyes and looked around, the lights had stopped flickering and true to Benjamin's words they had stopped moving.

"What the hell??!!" asked Lulu in fear as she looked around starting to breathe fast, she was scared, they had to get out of this death trap, they had to.

"Are you okay?" asked Benjamin as Lulu looked at him and shook her head.

"No, no I'm not okay, we've been stuck in here over the past thirty minutes, that idiotic technician is nowhere to be found and were going to end up dying in this death trap!!" said Lulu as she was trying her best to calm down, she was trying her best to be relieved that at least they had stopped.

But the question now was for how long? how long would it be until they started to fall again? How long till the next time the stupid elevator would decide to malfunction again?

Benjamin could not say anything, he knew that all of Lulu's words were true, and he agreed with her, he glanced up at the floor indicator and he was terrified to see that they had dropped from the twenty second floor all to the eighteenth floor.

That set off alarm bells in his head, who was to tell when next the elevator would decide to fall again, and they had fallen so far in such a short amount of time, it was worrying to say the least, and he was sure that no amount of wishful thinking right now would stop their possibility of falling to their death in this thing.

"Alright that's it, we're getting out of here now, we can't wait any longer for that idiot." said Benjamin as Lulu scoffed.

"And how exactly are we going to do that?" asked sulu as Benjamin's eyes immediately started to scan the elevator to find something that would be able to help.

Meanwhile outside the elevator a loud commotion began to brew, the top floors had heard the bone chilling creaking of what sounded like one of the elevator's falling, and they had feared the worst when the elevator continued to fall down. The news travelled fast through every floor as the question now was, who were the people that were stuck in the elevator and where w in the world was the technician?

Dom frowned as he looked at his phone and then at his watch, he was supposed to meet Lulu for a meeting forty minutes ago and yet she was nowhere to be found and he had tried calling her, but he couldn't reach her, she was not picking her calls.

Dom sighed as he was sure that Lulu was just up to one of her many shenanigans again, he would just talk to her at home.

Dom got up as he had to get a report from the board room. He closed his laptop and walked out of his office as he scrolled on his phone as he looked up suddenly hearing the loud noises of commotion and people gathered where the elevators were.

Dom frowned as he wondered what was going on, everyone was certainly not working, and it had to be for a good reason.

"What is going on here?" asked Dom as everyone turned to look at him, some scared that they would be reprimanded for not working, while some were worried and some could not bear to speak to him.

"Sir... there's a problem with one of the elevators, it's malfunctioning." said the Secretary, she seemed to be the only one who had the courage to inform their boss about what was going on.

"That's terrible, is there anyone in there?" asked Dom as his secretary shook her head.

"We don't know for sure sir." she replied.

"Has anyone informed the technicians yet?" asked Dom as she nodded.

"Yes sir, I sent someone to go and inform them, she hasn't returned yet—Oh wait, there she is." said the Secretary as the person she had sent finally returned and she was heaving from using the stairs.

"Did you inform the technicians?" she asked.

"No, I couldn't find them... and I have bad news... apparently the secretary on the ground level said that the last person she saw enter that elevator was Miss...Lulu..." replied the woman carefully as Dom's face was instantly filled with terror and worry.

"Oh my." gasped the secretary as she glanced at Dom.

"Get me the technicians on the line, where are they when their one job is to be present in times like this??" asked Dom, he was trying very hard to keep calm, there was no need to create a bigger scene when there was already one present.

"Yes sir." replied the secretary quickly as she walked to her workspace to try to contact the technicians, she knew that this was a very dire situation and they had to work quickly, if not, they could only fear the worst.

"Sir, this is very, very serious, from what I heard on the other floors, the elevator suddenly dropped and it stopped on the eighteenth floor." said the woman as Dom didn't even wait for her to say anything else as he dashed in the direction of the stairs.

"Make sure you get in touch with the technicians and ask them to meet me on the eighteenth floor." he said quickly to his secretary before leaving as she nodded.

"Yes sir." she replied with the utmost seriousness.

"Just what exactly do you plan on doing??!" asked Lulu as she had been looking at Benjamin who looked as if he had a plan, but he had done nothing.

"Trying to find a way to get out of here, if we wait any longer we might as well start confessing our sins." said Benjamin as Lulu scoffed, he looked at the door to the elevator, it was closed shut, there was no way he would be able to open it.

Suddenly Benjamin looked up to see a little opening at the top of the elevator.

He knew that this was a crazy idea, but this might as well be their only way out of here.

He quickly pushed the box of party planning items that had managed to stay intact through all this mayhem and he hoped and prayed that it would be strong enough to hold his weight.

He climbed on it and somehow found a way to pry open the top of the elevator as he could see nothing but darkness outside.

"Ben are you crazy??! In situations like these it's best to stay in the elevator and wait for help." said Lulu, it was too dangerous to go up there, he could end up getting really hurt.

"Oh really now? If we stay here it means we want to die, and I sure don't want to die and neither do you." said Benjamin as he looked at her and she shook her head.

"Help will come soon." she said.

"Will you still be saying that if the elevator started to fall again." he said as he pulled himself up and climbed out of the elevator.

"Ben!" called Lulu as she walked to the box and looked up out the opening.

"I'm alright, it's just very dark in here." he said as he regretted leaving his phone in the car.

"Where's your phone?" he asked.

"I left it in the car." she replied with a sigh, what a bad day to forget her phone in the car.

Benjamin sighed as he looked around, waiting for his eyes to adjust to the inside of the elevator shaft as he only had a little source of light from a little creak down below.

Benjamin cursed underneath his breath, he realized that the light coming from the creek was the elevator opening into the shaft, but if it was down there, it meant that they weren't really on the eighteenth floor, they were still a distance away from it.

"What's the matter?" called Lulu's voice from inside the elevator, she sounded worried.

"The door to the floor is just below us." said Benjamin as Lulu sighed.

"Oh please don't tell me that you are going to try to open it?" asked Lulu.

"I am, that's the only way we'll get out of here, but I need your help." he said as he looked back down into the elevator as Lulu shook her head.

"No way." she responded instantly, there was no way she was climbing up there with him.

"Miss White, come on, this might be our only chance to get out of here." he said as Lulu shook her head.

"Please, work with me, I want to get out of here as much as you do." he said in a soft voice as he knew that Lulu was scared, he was too, but the only way they would be able to get out of this was if they worked together.

"Please." he asked again as Lulu sighed.

"Fine." she answered reluctantly as she stepped on the box praying internally that this would not be the true cause of their death.

"Thank you." said Benjamin as he bent down to pull her up.
