"What the heck was that??!!" cried Lulu in shock as she finally regain her balance as she was leaning her back against one of the walls of the elevator as the elevator finally stopped shaking.
"What's happening??!!!" asked Lulu in a panic as the lights kept on flickering off and on until they finally stabilized.
"Calm down, I think the elevator is malfunctioning." said Benjamin as he looked at Lulu who was already in a panicked state. He knew that he said she should calm down, but that was only because he didn't want her panicking, he was also worried, it wasn't safe for an elevator to just shake randomly like that.
"Malfunctioning??!!" asked Lulu and Benjamin nodded.
"Why it is malfunctioning now??! Why now?!" she asked as it was clear that she was already worrying. She had noticed that the elevator had stopped moving, and in her mind, she was not exactly sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing, all she knew was that she wanted to get out of here fast.
Benjamin didn't answer her question, he just walked to the buttons and searched for the one that would alert the people outside that the elevator had stopped and they were stuck here.
Benjamin found the elevator's emergency alarm button and he pressed it once as he waited for a reply, but heard none.
"What are you doing?" asked Lulu as she looked at Benjamin.
"Calling for help." replied Benjamin as he pressed the button again and waited.
"Oh no, we are stuck in this elevator!!" cried Lulu as Benjamin frowned, this was terrible, how come he had to be stuck in an elevator with Lulu of all people? The sheer panicked tone of her voice alone made him sure that this was going to be a long day while they waited for help.
"Miss. White, can you please calm down?" asked Benjamin as Lulu shook her head, it was hard to calm down when they were suspended in the air with no way of getting down.
"Don't tell me to calm down Ben! We are stuck here in a tight confined space and it stopped moving and we are stuck!" she replied.
"I didn't know you were claustrophobic." said Benjamin as he pressed the button again, cursing the damn technicians that were not answering under his breath.
"I'm not claustrophobic Ben, I'm problemphobic and as you can clearly see, this is a problem." said Lulu as she put the box she was carrying down as Benjamin pressed the button again and this time got an answer.
"Hello." came a voice from the elevator's speakers.
"Yes hello, can you hear me?" asked Benjamin quickly.
"I can, what's the problem?" asked the technician.
"The elevator's stuck that's what! It just stopped without any warning at all." said Lulu as Benjamin looked at her.
"I see..." replied the technician.
"Is that all you can say?? I see?? What exactly are you seeing??!!" asked Lulu in exasperation.
"I will not repeat myself again, calm down, and if you can't calm down keep silent." said Benjamin sternly as he looked at Lulu, yes, he knew that this sort of situation was very panicking and stressing, but if she continued to speak like that to the technician he doubted that they would get out of here any quicker.
"Fine." replied Lulu with a scoff as she backed into the corner of the elevator of kept shut.
"Ma'am I know that the elevator being stuck can be nerve racking, but shouting at me won't fix the problem, you need to remain calm." said the technician as Lulu scoffed even harder, she did not know what irritated her the most. The fact that he called her 'Ma'am' or the audacity he had to speak in such a lazy bothered tone.
It was clear that he was not taking his job seriously. Oh just he wait for her to get out of here, she would report his incompetence to Dom, what sort of technician was not on standby when you needed his assistance the most.
"Anyway, let's move past that and fix this problem, what floor are you stuck on?" asked the technician as he yawned and Benjamin could feel himself becoming irritated by this guy's lazy attitude, but he had to keep calm.
"We are stuck on the twenty second floor." said Benjamin as he looked up at the red number displaying at the top of the elevator.
"Alright, I'll be there soon." said the technician as he sighed tiredly even though he hadn't even done anything yet.
"How soon?" asked Benjamin.
"Thirty minutes give or take." he replied, the uncertainty in his tone rung warning bells in both Lulu and Benjamin's heads. This guy was so incompetent he couldn't be trusted.
"Alright, thirty minutes, we'll be waiting." said Benjamin.
"Alright." replied the technician as he ended all forms of communication leaving Lulu and Benjamin alone, to wait in this stupid elevator for some thirty minutes that they were both sure was not going to be thirty minutes.
"Do you really believe that that guy is going to be here in thirty minutes?" asked Lulu as Benjamin shook his head.
"Not at all." he replied as Lulu sighed.
"But if he doesn't show up in thirty minutes we'll have to call him again." said Benjamin.
"I don't even trust that lazy guy, did you hear him yawning as if he had just woken up? I don't even trust him to come fix this." said Lulu.
"Well we have no choice, so instead of complaining stay calm and wait." said Benjamin as he could see that clearly Lulu was no longer panicking, instead she was irritated and annoyed, and he didn't want her directing all that at him.
"That's all you say, stay calm, stay calm, stay calm, well you know what Ben, you're not as calm as you make yourself up to be." said Lulu.
"Miss White, I get that you are stressed, but can you please not direct all that tension at me? Like I said earlier, if you have nothing good to say, then don't say anything at all." said Benjamin, honestly, he was doing this for the sake of both their sanities.
This indeed was a very stressful situation, and he didn't want to have to knock Lulu out if she proved difficult.
"You know what Ben, you're the worst person to be stuck in an elevator with." said Lulu as she was clearly offended, she regretted ever asking him to come here with her, he was even bad luck.
She had entered this elevator and gone up and down countless times, why is it that now when she convinced him to come with her was when the elevator decided to break down? She would never go anywhere with him again.
"I should say the same to you." replied Benjamin as Lulu scoffed and sank down to the floor as she turned to face the corner, she would rather look anywhere else than at Benjamin's stupid, inconsiderate, annoying face.
Benjamin sighed as he checked his phone, thirty minutes had certainly passed and there was still no sign of the technician. Benjamin was starting to get stressed, he had no plans of spending his entire day stuck in an elevator.
Benjamin glanced at Lulu who was still sitting down facing the corner, she had been quiet the entire time and Benjamin had to admit that he was surprised that she could be this quiet for long, she hadn't said a word, neither had she looked in his direction at all.
Benjamin would have been worried that she was not breathing if not for the continuous rise and fall of her shoulders indication that she was still alive and breathing.
"It's been over thirty minutes, I'm going to try to call the guy again." said Benjamin as Lulu didn't say anything at all as he pressed the button again, and again, and again without reply at all.
"Where in the world is this technician??!" asked Benjamin as he would not lie, the silence, the enclosed space and if not for the air conditioning that was still working the heat would have added to their problems.
Benjamin was starting to loose his cool, usually, Lulu would lighten the mood by telling a bad joke or just talking, but since she was silent, they both seemed to be suffering.
As Benjamin let out a sigh of giving up, he suddenly heard a loud creaking sound and the quick jerk of Lulu's head in his direction told him that she had heard it as well.
"What was tha—" asked Lulu as she did not even have time to finish asking her question when the creaking sound suddenly became louder and before they knew it the elevator began to move, but instead of going up, it started to fall down.
"Ahhhhhhhh!!" shouted both Lulu and Benjamin as they felt themselves literally being thrown around in the elevator as it continued to fall with no sign of stopping any time soon.
And as if the elevator falling was not already enough the lights began to flicker off and on as they were thrown around like ingredients blended in a blender.
