As the car drove to his grandfather's house Lorenzo kept thinking about the lady who used him to get away from those men who were after her. Who was she? Did she know who he was? Was she sent by one of his enemies? Lorenzo had so many enemies and so he was suspicious of everything and almost everyone. He would have to find out who she is and why she did what she did. His fingers touched the wallet which was still in his pocket, he brought it out and opened it. There were several dollar bills and bank cards in it. He brought out one of the bank cards and when he saw the name Carlos Brown written on the card, he was shocked. The girl was truly a thief, but why would she risk her life to steal from someone like Carlos Brown? And then she chose to use him as her coverage. What a terrible mistake she made.
As the car arrived at his grandfather's mansion, Lorenzo came down from his car and went inside the house.
"Welcome Lorenzo," his grandfather's housekeeper greeted him as he walked into the living room.
"Good evening Maria, please is my grandfather still awake?" Lorenzo asked the housekeeper.
"Yes, he is in his home office," she replied.
Lorenzo slightly nodded before turning to walk in the direction of his father's home office.
"Would you like me to get you some coffee?" The housekeeper called after Lorenzo.
"No Maria, I'm good," he replied to her.
When he got to the door of his grandfather's office, knocked gently and waited until he heard "come in," before he opened the door and went in.
His grandfather was behind his desk with some files spread out in front of him, he had a serious look on his face as he studied a piece of paper he was holding.
"Have a seat," Lorenzo's grandfather motioned to him, without looking up from the paper.
Lorenzo pulled out a chair and sat down across the table. He looked at his grandfather's face and saw that whatever was written on that paper gave him cause to worry.
"Grandpa, what is it?" Lorenzo asked the old man who was yet to look up from the paper he was holding.
His grandfather sighed as he looked up and handed the piece of paper he was holding to Lorenzo. Lorenzo took the piece of paper from him, it was a letter, and the moment that he read its contents, Lorenzo saw red.
"What the fuck is this supposed to mean? Who would dare send such a thing?" Lorenzo asked in anger as he raised his head to look at his grandfather. The old man took off his reading glasses and gently pinched the bridge of his nose.
"There is no name on it, and neither is there a return address," Lorenzo's grandfather said.
Lorenzo could tell he was tired, he was beginning to get too old to handle the issues of the family business, but he would never admit that to himself or anyone. As he still insists on sitting on the hem of affairs of the business, even though his doctors continue to advise him to reduce his workload and get more rest.
Lorenzo folded the letter, "I'm going to make sure to find out whoever it is that had the nerve to send this," Lorenzo said.
His grandfather nodded, he had no doubt that his grandson was going to fish out whoever it was that sent the letter, making Lorenzo the under-boss of the family is something that he has always been glad that he did. And he did not doubt that he would do great as the boss when he takes over.
"Have you been able to find out who the mole is?" His grandfather asked as he took a sip of his whisky.
"Yes, it's one of the new employees," Lorenzo replied.
His grandfather finished the contents of his glass and stood up from his chair, "you know what to do son," he said and gently patted Lorenzo on his shoulders before leaving the office.
Lorenzo stood up and left the office, when he got outside, he called for the chief security officer of his grandfather's mansion and asked him to beef up the security of the mansion, Parker.
"Anything I should be aware of?" The security officer asked.
"My grandfather got a threatening letter, I don't want us to be caught unawares should any of our enemies decide to strike." understanding what he meant, the security officer nodded.
"Where are my siblings?" Lorenzo asked, referring to his two younger siblings who were both twins, Matteo and Maria.
"They both went for a friend's birthday party," Parker replied.
"I hope they didn't go alone?" Lorenzo asked.
"No, Joe and Rob are with them."
Lorenzo glanced at his wristwatch, past ten. even though he didn't like the fact that they were out late, he was a bit relieved that they weren't alone. Matteo and Maria weren't deep in the family business, they knew little about the dealings that went on, and so sometimes they can be oblivious of what was going on, and put themselves in harm's way without realizing it.
"Is there anything else you would like me to do,?" Parker asked Lorenzo.
"No, make sure you give me a call when they get back, okay?"
"Yes, boss."
Lorenzo walked to his car and one of his men came around to open the car for him. "To the casino," he said to his driver.
As they drove out of his grandfather's mansion, Lorenzo's phone rang.
"Yes?" Lorenzo answered the call.
"We've got him, boss," Jorge said across the phone.
By him, Lorenzo knew he was referring to Peter, the mole. "Make him spill everything he has been up to," Lorenzo said.
"Yes boss," Jorge replied. Lorenzo could almost picture him smiling on the other side of the phone, torture was one of Jorge's many expertise.
"Jorge," Lorenzo called before he ended the conversation.
"Yes, boss?"
"I need him alive."
"Understood.''
As Lorenzo ended the conversation, he smiled to himself, he was about to make an example of that bastard!
