Synopsis

Max wasn’t expecting much when he woke up in a new world—no Avengers, no Spider-Man, just Mutants running for their lives while government goons played hide-and-seek with their rights. Lucky for him, he had one hell of a *cheat*—a door-opening ability that let him walk through reality like it was his personal VIP lounge. One moment, he’s dodging killer robots and government agents, the next, he’s holed up in an abandoned bank with a bunch of rebel Mutants who look like they just walked off the set of X-Men: The Budget Edition. Between dodging death, flirting with danger, and making bad decisions *on purpose*, Max figures he might as well have some fun. After all, if he’s gonna be a fugitive, he might as well *enjoy* being chased. Good thing he’s always been good at making things rise—tension, stakes… and, well, other things if the moment calls for it. One way or another, this world is about to learn— when Max walks through a door, trouble follows.

Chapter 1: Knock, Knock, Who's There?

Southeastern United States. Georgia.

North of Atlanta.

An abandoned wooden house sat in the suburbs, its walls warped with time, its floors covered in dust and forgotten junk. The place reeked of neglect, but in the far-left corner, a small patch had been cleared—just enough to make a bed out of some tattered old clothes.

A man lay there, unconscious.

He looked to be in his early twenties, around six feet tall, his body motionless as if in a deep slumber.

A woman sat nearby on a chair that looked like it could collapse at any second.

Her red hair cascaded over her shoulders, framing a pair of piercing blue eyes. Despite her simple attire, there was no hiding her stunning figure and striking features. But right now, worry was etched into every inch of her face, her brows knit tightly together.

Her name was Sonia. And she was a Mutant.

After her identity had been exposed, The Sentinel Services had been after her relentlessly. With no other choice, she left everything behind and started running. One day ago, she stumbled upon this abandoned house, hoping to use it as a temporary hideout.

Then, out of nowhere, a door appeared on the ceiling.

And this man fell through it.

At first, Sonia nearly bolted. But when she saw that he was unconscious, her instincts kicked in. His appearance was too bizarre to be normal, which meant he was probably a Mutant. And during times like these, running into a fellow Mutant was rare.

So, she stayed.

A low groan broke the silence.

Sonia tensed, her gaze snapping to the man as his eyelids fluttered open.

For a moment, his black eyes flickered with sharpness—intense, almost predatory. But just as quickly, the look vanished, replaced by confusion and pain.

"How do you feel?" Sonia asked cautiously. "You've been out cold for a whole day. I almost thought you were—"

"I'm fine," the man rasped. His voice was hoarse, his throat dry as sandpaper.

Meanwhile, his mind was in overdrive.

I actually transmigrated…?

A day ago, he had been a mercenary on vacation—only twenty-one but already considered a veteran in the field. After all, in his line of work, surviving five years was a damn miracle.

He never thought he'd die on the battlefield, but he sure as hell didn't expect to die by a fucking Samsung phone.

He could still remember it clearly—he had been playing a mobile game, messing around with a Devil Fruit for his character.

Then, BOOM. The damn phone exploded.

And not just a little spark—the whole thing went up in flames, swallowing him in an instant.

Between flashes of unconsciousness, strange bits of information filtered into his mind. Some parts were blurry, others crystal clear.

Then, suddenly—

A door appeared.

A massive one.

He had stepped through. Blinding light swallowed him whole.

And now, here he was.

His head pulsed with incoming information.

The Devil Island incident occurred a few years ago. Jean Grey died and came back as the Dark Phoenix. The X-Men and the Brotherhood vanished. The conflict between Mutants and humans is getting worse. The government has passed new anti-Mutant policies. The government created The Sentinel Services to handle Mutant affairs.

Max exhaled sharply.

Holy shit.

I'm in the X-Men universe. And judging by the timeline… this is after X-Men: The Last Stand but before Days of Future Past.

His brain was quick to connect the dots.

The Sentinel Services? That had to be the precursor to the Sentinels—the robot army that nearly wiped out Mutants in the future.

Great. Just fucking great.

"What's your name?" Sonia's voice snapped him out of his thoughts. "And what the hell happened? A door just—appeared—on the ceiling, and you fell out of it." She pointed upward. "Is that your Mutant ability?"

Max glanced at the roof. There wasn't a single trace of the door left.

He smirked.

"Something like that."

Because it wasn't a Mutant ability.

It was… Door-Door Fruit.

That Devil Fruit he had bought in his mobile game? Apparently, he owned it now.

No wonder he fell through a door. It was his own damn power.

Weird? Yeah. But useful? Hell yes.

"Strange ability," Sonia muttered. "You still haven't told me your name. I'm Sonia."

"Max."

Sonia's brow lifted. "You're American?"

Max chuckled. "What, were you expecting British?"

His gaze flicked over her again. Red hair, blue eyes, killer figure—he couldn't shake the feeling that she looked familiar.

"Hey," he said suddenly, eyes narrowing. "Can you mess with people's memories?"

Sonia flinched. "W-What? How do you—"

Max's lips curled into a knowing grin.

Busted.
