Days of Reckoning: Stranger Survival!

It's been about two weeks since the whole incident at the Sports Festival, I'm feeling a little better about things, all of us were hanging out in Esuha in Kansai. As we were walking down the street, Deku stopped.

"Is everything alright, Midoriya?" Iida asked.

Deku quickly looked at me, "Alyx, make a shield, now!"

I nodded and placed my hands on the ground. A shield formed around us and a flash of light rocked the entire shield, it shattered and the light overcame all of us.

[30 Minutes Later...]

I regained consciousness and found myself staring up at the ceiling of some building. I slowly stumbled up to my feet, I felt something go down my face, I put my hand on my head. Not only was I severely out of it, but whatever happened caused somewhere on my head to be bleeding. Not only that, but I couldn't move my left arm. I took one step forward and nearly vomited, the pain that shot around my body was unbearable. I pushed through and hobbled my way over to an opening, presumably one where I flew into thanks to whatever happened.

I used the wall to guide myself towards it, this office building, there was nobody in it. Somebody must've evacuated the people inside and that somebody was splattered all over the wall with nothing left behind. I felt someone grab my leg and I fell over; I mustered the strength I had to sit up to look at who it was. A woman had grabbed my leg, her face was riddled with terror, blood and tears covered her face.

"P-Please... Help me..." She croaked.

I wasn't even sure if I could use my Overdrive to heal her, but I tried it anyway, I crawled over to her and put my hand on her head. The aura from my Overdrive faintly lit the area up as I healed her. The light from my Overdrive faded away since I practically used up everything I had in me. The woman sat up and crawled over to me.

"I don't want to die, I don't..." She quietly sobbed.

I rolled over on my back and reached my hand out, "D-Do you... Have... Scissors...?"

The woman stopped crying and broke out of her trance, I guess she didn't realize that someone else was actually with her. She sat up and moved towards her desk, she pulled a drawer out and found a pair of scissors.

"O-O... kay... C-Cut... A piece... Of shirt..." I told her.

She immediately knew what I was talking about and got to work. She cut off a piece of my shirt and wrapped it around the injury on my head. She cut off my entire shirt to create more bandages to at least make sure the bleeding stops. The woman helped me up and slung my right arm over her shoulder.

"The power's out so we'll have to take the stairs." She informed me.

I nodded and we left the room. The entire office building was in shambles, I felt a tremor which it nearly made us fall down the stairs. Whatever was going on, it wasn't good, not at all.

"H-Hey... D-Do you have... a Quirk?" I asked.

"I do, it's nothing remarkable, but I have a Quirk. It's called 'Flashlight', I can use the palms of my hand to create light. My name is Ruka Sumiko." She replied.

We went out of the building's back door. She went up against the wall, being that we were out at night, the entire city was pitch black, so we couldn't see two feet in front of us. Her palm casted light and shined it in front of us, we had a stretch of concrete before we would come to an alleyway to the left of us. I could faintly see the light from a fire coming from the end of that alleyway. We slowly made our way down towards the alleyway. As we got there, she peered around the corner and she quickly moved her head back. I wasn't sure what she saw, but I felt her heartbeat quicken.

"I-It's her..." She whispered.

I peered around the corner myself, my eyes widened as I saw who it was, it was Doe! The things protruding out of her back kept her in the air, they were glowing red and black just like...

I moved my head back behind the wall, "W-We need... To go... Now..."

I felt her nod and we turned the other way. I wasn't sure where everyone else was at, hopefully they were alright. She held her hand out and lighted our way. Under any other circumstance, I would've attacked, but I'm in no condition to fight.

"My apartment isn't that far from here, if we can make it there, we should be okay." Ruka quietly told me.

I heard movement slowly making its way behind us, Ruka turned her Quirk off and we moved to the right. We stayed completely still, I saw something glow red a few feet in front of us, Doe must be patrolling the side streets now! We waited until she passed by, then we quickened our pace.

[8 Minutes Later...]

We finally made it to her apartment, it was one of the few buildings that weren't in ruin. She took me inside of her apartment and laid me down on her couch.

"Wait here, I'll be right back!" She whispered.

She rushed into another room. It's not like I was going anywhere to begin with. I sat there for a couple of minutes, she came back, it seemed like she had a mini hospital in her apartment! She shined her light on me and started patching me up with the resources she had.

"Okay, this might sting, I'm going to treat that head wound you have." Ruka warned.

She undone the makeshift bandage that was wrapped around my head. I couldn't see what she was doing since I was so out of it, but holy shit was she right, it stung like a bitch!

"Your arm and your leg I'll have to splint for now, I doubt any hospitals will be open for a while." She informed me.

Once she got done with splinting my left arm and the lower half of my right leg, she grabbed a blanket from a closet nearby. She went over to her fridge and pulled out an ice pack. Ruka wrapped it in a towel and placed it on my head.

"You can sleep now, I'll be up for a while, just in case anything happens. Thank you." She reassured.

I nodded and I closed my eyes.

[The Next Morning...]

I woke up to the smell of soup, Ruka had a bowl of chicken noodle soup on the table with 2 spoons, one of which was already in the bowl. I saw my phone on the table as well, it was completely shattered. Ruka picked the spoon up and turned towards me.

"Hey, glad to see your awake, I didn't think you would've survived with those injuries." She greeted.

Ruka put the spoon of soup in my mouth and fed me it. She grabbed a wet cloth and wiped my face off.

"I-Is the power back on?" I asked.

"No, it's not. Whatever happened must've completely destroyed this city's power station. I have a portable burner just in case my power ever goes out. I've got a generator powering my fridge though!" She explained.

Her radio sparked to life, "Hello? Can anyone hear me?"

Ruka quickly grabbed the transmitter and pressed a button.

"H-Hello? Can you hear me?" She quickly asked.

"Oh my God... There're people alive down there!" The man responded.

Right before Ruka could tell them where we're at, the radio cut to static, faint screams were heard before it finally cut out. After that, we heard a "boom" in the distance from outside.

"Shit... That villain must've gotten to them." She muttered.

I tried to sit up but I just couldn't, my body was broken beyond belief. Not only that, but I couldn't use my Quirk, so I couldn't rely on my Telepathy to get into contact with anyone. There was no doubt about it, the Quartet Girls somehow got a hold of Shigaraki, but how?

"Easy now, I doubt you're able to move by yourself. Now that you can actually speak, what's your name?" She questioned.

"Alyx, Alyx Leonidus." I replied.

"Okay, good to know. We're gonna get through this, Leonidus." Ruka smiled.

I slightly smiled back, "So... What do we do now?"

"Well, it's apparent that nobody's coming for us thanks to that villain or they can't even come close to the town because of it. I've got enough food for about a good three months, more than enough for the both of us. If we can get down to the subway station, we can take it to Kyoto, but I'm assuming it'll be a while before we can head out." She told me.

I still tried to sit up, "You're rather stubborn, aren't you?"

"W-Well... I've been told that." I chuckled.

She helped me sit up and I looked at her.

"So, who exactly are you?" I asked.

"Well, for starters, I'm 21 years old. I'm a college student and I worked an office job, not that I'll have it anymore until things calm down. I used to live around the Aichi Prefecture before I moved here. What about you?" She explained.

"I'm 18, and I go to school in Musutafu. I moved here from America about 3 years ago. My friends and I were hanging about until all of this stuff happened, I'm hoping they're alright, I can't exactly use my Quirk to contact them. I guess we were all spread out when this whole shit went down." I answered.

She stared at my left eye where my burn scar was covered up by bandages. She looked at the rest of my body and noticed all of the scars.

"You look like you've been through a lot." Ruka remarked.

I nodded at her and lightly laughed, "Yeah, that's a bit of an understatement. I can thank U.A. for that."

"You're a student at U.A. High? No wonder you were so calm during all of this..." She mumbled.

I coughed up blood and she quickly caught it with a cloth.

"S-Sorry, that's what happens when I overuse my Quirk. My arms and legs tend to lock up as well, but I guess they're being generous today." I joked.

I held my right hand out and Overdrive sparked on my palm.

"Do you play video games?" She asked.

"Avidly, yes, why?" I responded.

"I was just wondering." She told me.

Ruka kicked her feet up on the table and leaned her head back on the couch. Who knew I'd be cooped up with a stranger hiding from a villain for, presumably, this entire week? I leaned back and closed my eyes.

[4 Hours Later...]

I woke up to her door opening and closing. I looked up and saw her enter the room with a bag of things.

"Do you happen to know how to use a gun?" She wondered.

"I guess you can say that." I nodded.

She pulled a pistol out of the bag and loaded it, "Good, glad I'm not alone. My father taught me how to use a gun, I don't mean to brag, but I'm a pretty good shot."

I activated my Overdrive and it faintly lit up around my hand. I used it to heal my leg the best I could before it extinguished. I stumbled up to my feet and Ruka grabbed my arm.

"Let's go, we've got no time to waste." Ruka smiled.

Ruka took the bag with her as we made our way out of the apartment. She lived close by the subway station, so thankfully we didn't have to go too far. As we made our way onto the street, we heard thunderous footsteps in the distance. Ruka grabbed my hand and took me into a now destroyed bookstore. Doe passed us but stopped right next to the bookstore. Ruka had her hand firmly placed on her pistol.

"She's right there." I mouthed.

Ruka slowly nodded and our breathing slowed and became quieter. It felt like forever, but Doe finally moved away from us. We hurried out of the bookstore and rushed towards the subway station. We hurried down the stairs and further into the station. A car was stationed on the tracks and Ruka went into another room. The lights in the station turned on as she came out of the room.

"If this car surfaces, expect all eyes to be on us, alright? You can handle a pistol with one hand, right?" She questioned.

"I've never used one before, but I guess it's no different than my Stardust Shoot technique." I responded.

She threw the pistol to me and I caught it. We entered the subway car and it began to move. It took off down the track, I guess his was one of those bullet trains because we were flying! The train continued underground towards Kyoto.

"Huh, I guess I won't be using this thing after all." I muttered.

[10 Minutes Later...]

The train finally arrived in Jaku City, the place looked a lot better, at least she hadn't destroyed this town. I guess people weren't expecting there to be 3 trains at the station, but then again, I don't think they expected us to get off it either. People surrounded the both of us and asked if we were from Esuha.

"Just... Get us to a payphone, please." I fretted.

We were directed to one and I hurried inside. I pulled my wallet out, inserted some Yen, and dialed Momo's number. I waited for a bit then she picked it up.

"Hello? Who is this?" She asked.

"Oh my God, thank God you're okay! Listen, I'm in Jaku City, I saved a woman who turned out to be a badass college student with a gun. I literally am running off of pure adrenaline right now. I sustained an injury to my head, my left arm is broken but splinted, my right leg is now fractured but splinted." I answered.

"I've been so worried about you, darling! I thought you were dead! I'm coming to visit you right away!" Momo sniffled.

She hung up the phone and I left the payphone booth.

"I need a drink and I can't even drink yet." I sighed.

"Come on, we can worry about that later, let's get you to a hospital." Ruka laughed.

[30 Minutes Later...]

I got situated in the hospital at Jaku. I'd have to say, it was a rather nice-looking hospital, the biggest plus was that the walls weren't white! Ruka came back in with a bag and she sat down next to me. She pulled out two bottles, one for me, and one for her.

"You said you wanted a drink, right?" She smiled.

"I didn't think you were actually taking me seriously!" I chuckled.

She opened mine and handed it to me, "Here, it's called 'sake'."

I took a drink out of it, it tasted... Good? I wasn't exactly sure how to put it.

"Thank you again. If you hadn't been there, I'd definitely be dead by now." Ruka cooed.

"Same here, thank you too. I would've hopped out of that window towards my death." I replied.

I took another big drink and she took a drink from whatever she had.

"It's a goddamn crazy world out here, kid. I've seen enough to know that. But after everything yesterday and today, this just takes the cake." She noted.

"Hey, thank you for taking care of me, Ruka." I smiled.

"You don't have to thank me, the only reason I survived was because of you, Leonidus." She told me.

"Well, that doesn't really matter to me, honestly. You've really helped me out big time, I can't thank you enough. I'll carry you in my thoughts, Ruka Sumiko, through each of my battles. Saving my life means you've earned a spot in my heart, soul, and mind." I responded.

She quietly gasped before smiling at me. I heard my hospital door open and I looked over to see who it was.

"Darling!" Momo called out.

She ran over and gave me a hug. I hugged her back and Momo smiled at me.

"How is everyone, are they alright?" I asked.

"I'm not sure, the only people I can tell you that are okay are Kirishima, Mina, Mineta, Sero, Shinso, Uraraka, Shoji, Sato and Tsuyu. As for everyone else... I..." Momo tried to explain.

Ruka took the notion and left us alone as she felt the mood in the room change. Momo completely broke down and started crying hysterically. It sounded like she was saying that the attack was too much and they couldn't really defend themselves. I held her close to me with my right arm, I slowly rubbed her back.

"It's okay, it's okay... I'm here now, I'm alright." I softly spoke.

Her crying lessened from being completely hysteric to regular sobbing. I managed to activate my Overdrive again, it was shining a lot brighter than what it was before. I used it to heal my left arm up, after the painstaking feeling of having your bones reformed, I grabbed the bottle of sake and took another drink from it. Momo looked over at what I was drinking.

"W-What is that?" She sniffled.

"That's 'sake', I'm sure you-" I tried to tell her.

She took the bottle and chugged the entire thing down! I took it away from her after she managed to finish the entire bottle. After a few minutes of sitting there, she let out a loud burp and then giggled.

"Yaoyorozu is sleeeepy." She slurred.

I looked at the bottle and saw that it was a whole 20% ABV! There was at least maybe a little over 2/3rds of the bottle left and she drank the entire thing! She stumbled on top of me and curled up in a ball.

"Y-You know somethin'... Y-You... You're the... B-Best boyfriend ever!" She slurred once more.

"Oh, well thank y-" I tried to say.

She interrupted me, "I wanna get married!"

"Woah there, isn't it a little too early still to be deciding that?" I laughed.

"No! It's... It's marry season!" She argued.

"Marry season? I thought it was October?" I replied.

"Yeah! So? T-That's... That..." Her voice trailed off.

She made her way up to my ear rather slowly, I thought she was going to fall off the hospital bed at times!

"Le-Let's have... A baby..." Momo whispered.

"A baby? Are you serious?" I questioned.

"Mm! Nobody... Nobody would know!" She theorized.

I lowered one of my eyebrows, "Not even you?"

"Yes... No me." She slurred.

I shook my head and wrapped my arms around her. Momo melted into me and sighed.

"Big burly bear..." She whispered.

Ruka reentered the room and smirked, "Aw, how adorable, are you two dating?"

"Well, yes and-" I was interrupted by Momo yet again.

"I-Is that... A mistress?! A-Are you cheatin' on me? Right after... We just got married?" She slurred yet again.

"Good grief..." I chuckled.

[The Next Morning...]

Last night, Ruka told me before she left that her parents were having her come back home until the situation in Esuha gets resolved. We both thanked each other for saving one another's life and she actually gave me her number! She's definitely a really cool person, I wonder if I'll ever see her again? I woke up the same time Momo did, if hangover was a person, that person would be Momo.

"D-Darling, my... My head hurts." She wearily told me.

I brought her head down to my shoulder and activated my Overdrive once again. I was able to actually surround my entire body this time! I slowly healed her headache; I've noticed that I was doing a lot more healing than I was fighting. I lifted my hands but she didn't sit back up.

"People are starting to doubt Pro Heroes, do you think that we'll be okay?" Momo asked.

"To tell you the truth, I'm not sure." I admitted.

Momo finally sat up and looked confused.

"I know that's not the answer you were expecting, but it's the truth, I'm not gonna give you a false hope at a time like this. I have no idea who's alive and who's not, so I can't weigh out our options. I know you're scared and so am I, but I promise you, we'll make it through this." I continued.

My shattered phone somehow lit up; I thought the thing was broken? Momo grabbed it and looked at whatever was on my phone. She moved my phone around to try to read something.

"Whoever was there, they seemingly disappeared, from what your news app says." Momo informed me.

Doe was gone? Where would she have gone to? Clearly nowhere else reported that they were under attack. I had so many questions but very little answers. Maybe a certain someone could shed some light on this situation?
