Chapter 4

As I put my hand on the crystal, I started clearing my thoughts and trying to concentrate. I was excited about getting my attribute. I had always dreamed of controlling elements as my favorite fictional characters did. I closed my eyes and wished for something good so that I could become strong. When I finally opened my eyes, I shut my eyes again in anguish. The crystal stayed how it originally was. I had no attribute.

"H-How could this be?!" I shouted. "The crystal should have changed colors by now, right?"

"Sorry, kid, I guess your luck is bad," Gramps said. "Although we have no use for you anymore, you might be able to become proficient in the art of cultivation and martial arts. Maybe then you could learn one of the primordial attributes."

"B-but…" I started.

"Tough luck, kid."

I wanted to know more about cultivation because Gramps had mentioned it, but I decided to let it go for now. I wanted to curl up in my cozy bed and never come out.

The next day, gramps took us to the XianXu Sect to study Martial Arts and Cultivation. He told us that Knights usually train in this sect to familiarize themselves with melee combat.

"Gramps, what exactly is cultivation?" I asked.

"Cultivation is the process of increasing health, longevity, and strength. First, you learn the basics of Cultivation and your body, then choose your path on which type of Cultivation you want to grow in." Gramps explained. "The Basic Realms of Cultivation are Mana Body and Mana Foundation. Then, you choose to either take the Holy Path or the Devil Path. I sincerely suggest you never take the Devil's path, not that you can, because there are no Demon Cultivation Masters in this Realm."

"How do you take the Holy Path?" Lucas asked.

"To be able to cultivate in the Holy Path, one must be pure in heart. You should then meditate in your Erudition Sea and make a contract with a God from the Transcendent Realm." Gramps explained. "Oh, and about the Realms. There are three Realms in total, the Human Realm, the Demon Realm, and the Transcendent Realm. To travel to the Demon realm, one must be at the peak of Cultivation and then give up their meridians. Giving up or destroying the meridians means that they can no longer Cultivate. If one can transcend through the Peak of Cultivation, they may ascend to the Transcendent Realm."

"Cool!!" I exclaimed. This was similar to some of the Chinese Manhua I had read. You can't underestimate an Otaku, can you now?

"Now, let's start cultivating!" Gramps announced.
