Chapter 10 Perspective

Being vulnerable to direct sunlight was Lin Tian's concern. He always worried about accidents when going out during the day, fearing others might discover his zombie identity. Zombies do not age, die, or perish, but they are not invincible. In the world, everything has its nemesis, and zombies are no exception.

"If my identity as a zombie is exposed, it will definitely attract national powers or formidable individuals. Tonight's encounter with the Demon Exorcism Girl is the perfect proof. Now that I have achieved the full form of a Blue-eyed Zombie, I no longer need to fear the sunlight and can better conceal my zombie identity in the future."

Lin Tian lay contentedly in bed, thinking about many things, and gradually fell asleep.

"Ding ling ling..."

A ringing sound woke Lin Tian up. He picked up his phone and saw it was a call from Elder Han. He swiped the screen to answer.

"Hello, Xiao Tian, it's Elder Han. I'll have the driver pick you up shortly. Pack your things; we'll talk more when we meet. Yeah, that's all for now. I'm hanging up."

Elder Han seemed very busy and hung up after a few words. Lin Tian put down the phone and saw that it was already bright outside. The sunlight shone through the window into the room. Lin Tian jumped out of bed and hesitated before stepping into the sunlight. He was not wearing any clothes, and the sunlight fell directly on his body, but the expected stinging and burning sensation did not occur.

There was only a warm feeling, no different from before, and Lin Tian finally confirmed that he really was no longer afraid of the sun, which brightened his mood considerably.

Soon someone would come to pick him up. After washing up, Lin Tian hurriedly packed a few clothes, including the most important animal skin. He opened the drawer to take out the animal skin but jumped back in shock. To Lin Tian's eyes, the animal skin was emitting a faint red glow.

"What's going on? The animal skin has a layer of red glow. Is it something new, or was it always there, and I just couldn't see it before?"

"Bang, bang, bang!"

Three knocks on the door interrupted Lin Tian's thoughts. Who could it be so early? Lin Tian glanced at the door. As he wondered who might be outside, a bizarre scene unfolded. His vision passed through the wooden door, and he saw a middle-aged man in a suit standing outside.

Damn, first the red glow, now seeing through the wooden door, Lin Tian felt a whirl of emotions. His mind wavered, and the image of the man outside disappeared. Lin Tian's expression turned odd, and after pondering for a while, he felt he had grasped something.

To verify his suspicion, Lin Tian concentrated again on the door. The image outside reappeared, proving that his sight really could penetrate the door!

It turned out he was right. As long as Lin Tian focused on anything outside the door, his eyes could see the middle-aged man outside. The ability to see through things was controlled by his mind. He had just vaguely thought of this, remembering also that the female zombie could fly, which explained everything.

"So that's it. Zombies are not only physically strong but also capable of triggering various supernatural abilities. The young female zombie could fly, and I can see through objects." The more Lin Tian thought about it, the clearer it became. His zombie form had evolved, thus enabling him to develop supernatural abilities. He had always had night vision, so it was no surprise that he now had X-ray vision.

Feeling the wonderful sensation brought by this supernatural ability, Lin Tian became even more expectant of his zombie form. Currently, only his eyes had developed powers, but if he continued to absorb moonlight and his zombie form advanced, what other surprising changes might occur?

Lin Tian, like a child with a new toy, repeatedly experimented with looking around, immersing himself in the new world he could see, until the knocking sound reminded him again that someone was waiting outside.

"Creak," Lin Tian opened the door, and the middle-aged man outside was indeed exactly as he had seen through his vision.

"Mr. Lin, hello, I am Elder Han's driver, my last name is Liu." The middle-aged driver remained patient the whole time, which made Lin Tian feel a bit embarrassed.

"I'm really sorry for making Master Liu wait. I'll just grab my luggage bag and we can go." Lin Tian returned to pack the animal skin into his pocket, picked up his luggage bag, and went downstairs with the driver. The matter of checking out would be arranged by Elder Han, so Lin Tian didn't need to worry about that.

Upon returning to the Xiao Family residence without the interference of Second Miss, Lin Tian didn't need to climb walls to enter. The scene he encountered was slightly different—servants were busy with their own tasks, which explained why he hadn't seen any during his last visit, likely sent away by Second Miss.

Mrs. Xiao's family lived in a three-story Chinese-style villa by the pond. As Lin Tian entered, he couldn't help but marvel at the wealth on display.

The living room on the first floor was enormous, primarily wooden. Driven by curiosity, Lin Tian used his X-ray vision to inspect the woodwork and found that all were dense solid wood. The joints used no nails or glue but were dovetailed together.

"Xiao Tian, you're here, take a seat, relax, you're going to live here from now on," Elder Han's voice echoed from outside.

Lin Tian did feel somewhat constrained, having never dreamt of living in such a luxurious house.

"Oh, where is Second Miss?" Lin Tian found it odd—though the house was spacious, it felt empty; none of the Xiao Family members were around.

"Wondering why you don't see the lady and the miss? Mrs. Xiao and Miss are busy managing family affairs and rarely stay here throughout the year. Only Second Miss lives here; she is quite lonely. But now that's okay, you two are of similar age and will find common ground, making for good companionship at home," Elder Han explained as he led him to a couch, smiling warmly.

Common ground? Recollecting Xiao Manxuan's temperamental nature, Lin Tian had a hard time imagining any common language between them. He was just hoping his days as a bodyguard would pass by smoothly.

"I hope so, keeping Second Miss safe is the priority. When do we start school? It's Monday today, aren't we supposed to be at school?" Lin Tian inquired.

Elder Han pulled out a document bag from his bag and slid it across to Lin Tian, saying, "Here are the contract and an admission notification from Xikou City High School. You'll attend the senior class with Second Miss as a transfer student. She has taken leave and will go back the day after tomorrow."

Xikou City High School was the very high school Lin Tian had attended. He never thought he'd return to that campus. But recalling that Qi Jing and Sun Decai were also in their senior year there, Lin Tian felt a tinge of gloom. He could understand Qi Jing abandoning him, but Sun Decai had crossed the line by betraying their friendship, which Lin Tian found unbearable.

"Just you wait, my return won't be too far off," he muttered.

Lin Tian skimmed through the contract, quickly signed it—one copy for each party, valid for one year. He specifically checked the name of Party A; it was signed by Li Xinyi, indeed Mrs. Xiao's contract. Having worked over a year as a security guard at Xinyi Mall without ever seeing Mrs. Xiao's face, she rarely appeared in the media.

"Alright, your room is on the second floor; Second Miss stays on the third floor. Here's the key. You can get your uniform and books from the school. Miss is riding horses in the back yard, you might want to check on her," Elder Han finished explaining and then headed back to his company, leaving Lin Tian by himself.

After touring the villa, Lin Tian was about to head upstairs with his luggage when Xiao Manxuan walked in. She was dressed in light, tight sportswear that emphasized her curvy figure, her elbows and knees protected by pads, and was holding a riding crop.

She entered without a word and circled around Lin Tian, making him feel rather uneasy. After encountering a whip-wielding demon exorcism girl the night before, and now a whip-wielding female knight, he wondered if it was the era of women with a queen complex.

"Hmm, now that you're my bodyguard, you must obey my orders, right?" Xiao Manxuan asked, feigning seriousness.

Having met Xiao Manxuan before, Lin Tian knew she was difficult to serve, especially since she still held a grudge from their last encounter. He nodded and replied, "If Second Miss has any orders, just say the word."

"Good, then follow me," she said, almost smiling, leading the way. Lin Tian shook his head helplessly—it seemed his first day on the job was about being shown who's boss.

But Lin Tian wasn't one to shy away from trouble. Following behind, he watched her swaying slender waist and thought maliciously, "Push me too far, and I'll use my X-ray vision on you, then we'll see who's at a loss."

Both of them silent, they exited the villa and headed towards the large courtyard out back.
