Fate's group split up, Fate going by herself to deal with Kamran, Tessa and Mike going to destroy the machines, Ray and Red going to find and destroy the weapons depot. All of them were able to get past the electrical fence silently thanks to their insulated suits.
Looking at the progress of her students, Fate was pleasantly surprised. They were faster and stealthier than they've ever been before. They were like big cats stalking prey. Fate wondered if her words earlier acted as motivation or something along those lines.
Each of them had their knives out and ready to be used just in case. But at the same time, they were so stealthy and hiding their presences so well that they could move behind one of the guards without them even knowing. But this was partially do to the fact that they were tired as well.
Fate, Ray, and Red hid behind a bunch of crates will observing the others' progress. They watched as Tessa hid next to a helicopter while attacking a small explosive on its side. Though small, these micro-charges have as much strength as twenty pounds of C4, giving them the nickname, mini bombs or MBs for short.
Once the charge was set on the helicopter, Tessa and Mike moved to the next heavy vehicle. As they did do, Fate decided to enter the compound. She and the others avoided the lights casted by the watch towers and snuck right up against the sandstone wall. They traveled along this wall until they came upon a door guarded by two men.
Fate took out two needles that were laced with a fast-acting paralytic, and threw them at the men. Both hit the men right in the neck, and the poison kicked in immediately, making them drop to the ground.
As her team took care of the men's bodies, she opened the door very slightly to find no one. But she wasn't about to let her guard down now. She and her teammates split up between two hallways to go fulfill their respective missions.
It took her time to get through the winding, maze-like halls of the base. As she went, she has to map out her location in her head. That way, if she encountered a dead-end she could back track and choose another path, which she did many times. She's also had to kill a few guards that saw her or were about to see her, not that it effected her much.
It took her around twenty minutes to finally find the room that Kamran was sleeping in, at least that what she thought. She believed that architecture could be used to one's advantage and Kamran wasn't an idiot. He wasn't going to sleep inside the top of a building where he could easily be hit by a sniper. That's why Fate went down into the basement, where Kamran could easily have a secret escape route.
Putting her ear to the door, she did hear the sounds of shuffling inside. However, she couldn't hear any voices or the like. She looked up and saw rafters above her head, perfect for an assassination.
The first thing that any military commander would do when they hear a disturbance would be trying to figure out what happened. She jumped and climbed into the rafters quietly. Now, looking down at the area in front of the door, she got out her communicator.
"Are all of you in position," she whispered into a small bead connected to her breast pick by a wire.
"The charges have been placed on the helicopters, vehicles, and any other large pieces of equipment we could," Tessa answered by in a quiet tone.
"We've done the same for all the weapon and ammunition depots," Ray answered similarly.
"Are all of you back at the rendezvous point?"
"Yes Captain."
Fate's eyes narrowed, "Then light it up."
Back a the rock, Tessa and Red took out a detonator and pressed the button. Large explosions rang out through the area, shaking the entire base. Fate nearly fell out of the rafters because of those shockwaves. However, she held her ground, and her hunch was correct.
A man came out of the door under her that looked just like the picture. Fate instantly let go of the pieces of wood, dropped to the ground, and stuck her knife right into his neck while covering his mouth with his left hand.
Kamran made one last desperate attempt to get his gun or knife, but couldn't find the strength to do so. The light faded from his eyes, and his breathing ceased. Kamran was finally dead. However, Fate couldn't breathe a sigh of relief yet.
She took out what looked like a small detonator, but was actually the beacon she gave them. She knew that when she pressed this button, an air strike would be launched against the compound.
She deduced that she'd have no more than ten minutes. Now that she's mapped out a lot of the compound, she could probably make it out in five. But, that was without the guards and soldiers shooting at her and blocking her path. It was just as she thought before. She couldn't make it.
If she waited too long to set off the beacon then Kamran's followed could escape and continue his work. After a few seconds, she sighed, set off the beacon, and ran for her fucking life.
She encountered a few guards but slit their throats before they had a chance to get their guns up. Fate made it into the courtyard around the base. By this time, all the troops were woken up, but they were disoriented by the explosions. They were too confused to worry about a figure dressed in black bolting towards the fence.
However, that didn't stop some of them. A guard on one of the watch towers saw Fate, aimed his gun, and shot her right in the thigh.
*BANG!*
"Aaaagghh!!"
Fate collapsed to the ground, holding her bleeding wound. The sniper put in a new round and aimed, this time going in for the kill. However, a secondary explosion threw him off and he ended up shooting her in her left shoulder.
*BANG!*
"Aaaaahh!! God Damn It!!"
Fate gritted her teeth, pulled out her pistol with her right hand, and shot the sniper in the head before he could do anything else. Fate was about to stand when she noticed 4 familiar figures coming towards her.
"Captain!" Tessa exclaimed fearfully.
"What the hell are you doing here?! Get out of here now!"
"We told you that that's not happening. We're getting you to that evac!" said Ray.
"There is no evac!" All of her team members looked at her, bewildered, "This mission is meant to be my last. You have four or five minutes before this place is leveled by F22s."
"We can carry you out!"
"We don't have any med supplies with us. I'd bleed out before you could do anything," Fate answered.
Tessa slumped down to her knees with a devastated expression, "No… No! I'm not leaving!"
"What about you family? Your lov…"
Fate was cut off when Tessa suddenly grabbed her shoulders and planted her lips on Fate's. The assassin's eyes widened in shock. That was actually her first kiss. She had never expected it would come from her vice-captain.
Tessa backed up, "I'm not leaving you here to die!"
Faye's eyes soften as she embraces Tessa, "And I'm not about to let any of you die because of me."
At that point, Fate stuck a needle into Tessa's neck, making her body go limp, "why…" she whispered before passing out.
Fate looked at her team, "Get her, and yourselves out of here now." she said with a deathly glare. The men were snapped out of their stupor, got Tessa, and gave one last meaningful look to their Captain before running as fast as they could.
Fate looked at the burning base in front of her a smiled, "Finally… I actually get to save someone."
A few minutes later, Fate's team watched as jets sent missiles into the base, engulfing it in flames and sending out a powerful shockwave. Almost as if she was conscious and saw the explosion, a tear ran down Tessa's cheek. On this day, Fate Beowulf, one of the most successful assassins in human history, died at the age of 30 years old.
