A-Team, D-Team

All Might dug into one white box (labeled hero) and one black box (labeled villain), "I declare that the first teams to fight will be..."

He dramatically revealed two balls, the color designated to the box, "...these guys!"

Team A and Team D, hero team and villain team respectively.

From conversations I overheard, the A team is Midoriya and Uraraka...but who's the D team?

"Team A will be the heroes. Team D will be the villains. Everyone else can head to the monitoring room to watch!"

"Yes, sir!"

We made it to the monitoring room, but I could faintly hear the conversation, like, instead of sounding like they were next to me, it felt like they were in another room, "Bad guys, you can go on in and get set up. In five minutes, the good guys will be let loose and the battle will start."

"Yes, sir," Iida, Midoriya, and Uraraka said in unison.

"Young Iida. Young Bakugo."

I squinted, trying to control what I could hear completely, I'd already managed to learn to ignore heartbeats when I was ten, I can try this, too.

I gasped when I could exclusively hear what was being said in the monitoring room.

I need to try narrowing it down more at some point.

A few minutes later All Might joined us and spoke to the two teams, "All right. Let's begin the indoor combat training! Team A and Team D, your time starts now!"

We all watched the collage of screens to get a view from different cameras.

"Pay attention, kids. Think about what you would do."

We watched as A team snuck in hiding behind a wall, they slowly edged around the corner, cautiously looking around.

I watched another camera as Bakugo searched for them, it didn't take him long before he leaped out, immediately attacking Midoriya with an explosion that made a dust cloud explode into the small walkway.

But why is he attacking only Midoriya? Maybe because it'd be tactical to take out the seemingly strongest team member first?

I tuned into their conversation to get a better take on the battle since we had no sound in the monitoring room.

Midoriya narrowly dodged, moving Uraraka as he did.

"Uraraka! You okay?"

"I'm fine. Thanks!"

She was worried about his mask, it had been torn in half, and it was a wonder it still somehow stayed on his face.

In one swipe, Bakugo cleared enough of the smoke to see him, "What's the matter Deku? Afraid to stand up and fight me?"

"I knew you'd come at me first," with a grunt, Midoriya stood, "And figured you'd try to catch me by surprise."

"He almost got the jump on them," the grape child noticed.

Kirishima punched his palm, "Sneak attack, Bakugo? What kinda man pulls cheap crap like that?"

I rebutted him, "To be fair, he was told to be a villain and play the part. It's not past heroes to do sneak attacks either—like Team A sneaking in, to begin with. It's a good strategy."

"It's a viable strategy," All Might agreed, "He's playing the part. Acting like a true villain would."

The pink-haired girl smiled, "It didn't work. Midoriya dodged him!"

"Look, there he goes," Kaminari pointed out.

I focused on the conversation inside the building again.

Bakugo ran toward him with a hand up, "I won't hurt you so bad they'll have to stop the fight. Just close!"

But Midoriya surprised us all by catching Bakugo's arm just as he was about to throw a punch and to top it off, he flipped him over.

It wasn't an easy feat for him it seemed. It took him a second to catch his breath as Bakugo sat up, "Kacchan. You always use a big right hook to start a fight. I know because I've watched you for years."

Bakugo turned his head, "Huh?"

"I analyzed every amazing hero, even you. I wanted to learn everything I could about them. It was all in the notebook you burned and threw away."

He takes notes of heroes and Quirks, too? Perhaps we'll have to trade notes, Midoriya.

"You can call me Deku, but I'm not the same helpless, defenseless kid anymore! You hear me? I've changed! From now on, Deku is the name of a hero!"

Now my analysis of their relationship is mostly complete. They either knew each other as children or just from middle school. For some reason, Bakugo dislikes Midoriya—bullied him for that reason. Now Midoriya...is standing up to his oppressor. So now, the only question is...what makes Bakugo so angry with him? But I suppose that would take a while to uncover, not that it's really any of my business, to begin with...

I scoff at myself, Why must I be so observant even of things that aren't my business?

Bakugo stood and went into a semi-crouch, "Deku. You're shaking in your boots, you're so scared."

Small explosions went off in his hands, "But you wanna fight me anyway. That's why I hate you!"

My eyes widened before I smiled to myself, shaking my head.

I think...I might understand now, Bakugo. You seem to be a pretty damn complex kid.

Iida called in by earpiece for a status report from Bakugo, but he seemed too busy with Midoriya to care and respond.

He tapped his ear, "Just shut up and defend the weapon. I've got more important things to worry about."

"Are you forgetting what our mission is? Hello? He hung up on me! This isn't the time for radio silence—"

I tuned him out, focusing back on the stand-down that I'm sure would turn into a full-on brawl.

All Might was explaining the capture tape, the map to the building, and the earpiece he gave to Bakugo before the match started when asked why there was no sound.

I could care less since I could hear just fine. But that didn't stop my curiosity.

Well, then...how will this battle go?
