Chapter 12: Suffering in Silence

I walked back home wondering what Jayden meant by "See you later tonight" but I soon shrugged the thought off as I approached the Mansion

I walked into the Mansion through the back door and met many servants cooking in the kitchen

"Where have you been?!" One of them asked in a hushed tone

"What's going on here?" I asked, confused

I cook alone for the Alpha's family unless there is a ceremony that we are preparing for, then more servants are brought into the Mansion to help out, is there a ceremony holding today that I am not aware of? What is the special occasion?

"Lorraine!!" Luna Kathleen thundered on seeing upon entering the kitchen

"Do you know what the time is? School closed more an hour ago! Where have you been?!" Luna Kathleen questioned

What am I to say? Anything but the fact that I was beaten up and the Lycan twins took me to their pack till I finally healed completely

"Cat got your tongue Lorraine?! I'm talking to you!!" Luna Kathleen yelled

"Darling" Alpha Taylor called peeping into the kitchen

"Nightfall will soon be upon us, we have to chose our outfits"

Luna Kathleen looked at me scornfully pointing a finger at my face

"You, we'll definitely revisit this issue later but for now, Chloe is yet to eat anything, she's refusing food from any of us so you go and make sure you get her to eat else you'll suffer the consequence if my daughter continues to go hungry, her food is on the table in the dinning area" Luna Kathleen instructed and walked off with Alpha Taylor

I proceeded to the dining room and met Josh munching his food

"Good evening" I greeted as I grabbed Chloe's plate of food and Josh looked up at me

"What are you doing with that?" He asked

"The Luna instructed me to try getting Chloe to eat her food" I replied

"She assigned you the impossible task? Well good luck with that" Josh said and I made to leave but stopped when he continued to speak

"There was a news that went so viral in school today and it involved you Lorraine" Josh said and my body suddenly went cold, no, please don't tell me he knows about that please, I'll be in big trouble if Alpha Taylor or Luna Kathleen finds out what happened in school today

"The Lycan twins ran out in the middle of the shape-shifting class to save the lowly servant of the Nightwalker pack, I heard they carried you out of the school, all the classes were talking about that incident today Lorraine, you are a popular girl now, I should also tell Mum and Dad, just how popular you've become in school" Josh said standing up

"No Josh, please do not tell them" I quickly uttered

"But why? I'm sure they'll love to know how popular their servant has become in school" Josh said and I shook my head

"They'll kill me if they find out I got into such trouble, please, please do not tell them Josh please" I pleaded and Josh smiled

"Fine then, but I can't help you for free you know, if I'm going to be keeping your school secret, I'll have to be getting something in return" Josh said smacking his lips

"But.....but I have nothing" I stuttered, hoping he won't demand for what I was thinking

"You have what I want Lorraine, your body, I told you I want to have a fill of your body, we do have an unfinished business regarding that after all" Josh uttered, his eyes oogling at my body

"But....."

"Tonight's event is going to make everyone in the Mansion busy so meet me outside the Mansion at exactly 7pm, else I will tell Mum and Dad, exactly what you've been up to in school" Josh concluded and continued to eat his food

A tear rolled down my face as I walked up the stairs, why does bad stuff always happen to me? I thought the moon goddess watches over all her wolves and comes for them in their time of need? Then why has the moon goddess forsaken me so? Or does she not consider me one of her wolves because I cannot shape-shift?

I got to Chloe's door and I knocked

"Chloe? Open the door for me please Chloe" I said but I got no response

"Chloe?!"

"Go away!" I heard her yell

"No Chloe, I can't, please let me in" I pleaded

"I said leave me alone!!" she yelled again

"I cannot Chloe, I came with your food and I'm going to be in big trouble if I do not get you to eat, the Luna is going to punish me so please let me in, please" I said hoping she'll open the door for me

"I do not want any food so leave!!" she yelled

"Fine then, I'll go, I thought since I saved you that night at the club, you'll at least repay me by not letting me get punished by the Luna, but I guess not, no one will ever feel indebted to a servant, I'll leave then, I'll just go and tell the Luna that I was unable to complete this task and I'll accept my punishment wholeheartedly" I said, turning to leave, but I suddenly heard a clicking sound as the door was unlocked and open

"Are you coming in or not?" Chloe asked looking at me with a stern expression

"Of course I am" I said as I walked in

Chloe went to seat back on her bed and I placed the food in front of her

"Please eat" I said and she looked at me

"Just throw it away and tell Luna Kathleen I've eaten it" Chloe said

"But then you will be on an empty stomach and you will still be hungry" I pointed out

"Why do you care about that? You only care about completing the task the Luna gave you right? Throw the food away and tell her that I've eaten it, I promise I won't rat you out" Chloe uttered and I shook my head

"You will never understand and there's no point in explaining things to you" I said as I carried the plate of food and made to leave

"What do you mean by that?" she asked and I turned back

"Do you know what I had to go through and I'm still going through because of you? Do you know what saving you that night at the club cost me? I'm still suffering the repercussions up till now Chloe and you think I only did what I did just to complete the task assigned to me?" I shook my head again "You really will never understand"

I got bullied today in school and got my head banged severally against the wall because the twins helped me save Chloe, Josh is threatening me because of what happened in school which wouldn't have happened if I had not gone to that club to save Chloe, but what's the point? I'm a servant and this is what I am expected to do, suffer in silence

"I'm sorry" I heard Chloe say as I made to open the door

"What?" I turned back to look at her

"I.....I have no idea what really happened that night Lorraine, I did sneak out but I never planned on going outside the pack's territory, I saw some of our wolves sneaking out of the pack that night, they said they were going clubbing, I have never went clubbing, I wanted to know what clubbing was like, my curiosity got the best of me and I followed them, I followed them to the clubhouse but I soon began to feel dizzy, I lost my balance and fell on the guy in front of me and he got angry, he said he was a very highly ranked wolf and he was going to punish me by devouring me, he said I was going to be his food for the night, I was so weak, I could barely defend myself Lorraine, I couldn't do anything for myself till you came to my rescue" Chloe cried and I went to sit beside her

"But why? Why did you suddenly get weak and dizzy on leaving the pack's territory?" I asked

"I don't know Lorraine but I'm still so scared, so scared" Chloe sobbed and I pulled her into an embrace.....
