Chapter 12

Back in his office, He sipped from a steaming cup of coffee he had heated. What the hell was he talking about anyway? Spunk wasn't the word he'd been expecting from the middle-aged investor.

Someone knocked on the door.

"Come in," He said offhandedly.

Chloe strolled in holding a clipboard.

"What can I do you for?"

"Wendy wanted you to have this itenary for next month's budget." She said.

"Right, thanks." He took the clipboard from her hand.

Scott's eyes caught a photo of his parents and him at a Fourth of July party they'd thrown, all smiles in red, blue and white. He'd been that way with his ex and Mark...until.

Did he really want Mark to grow up losing that family tradition too?

"It's a great photo," She told him.

"Great night too, I remember all the fireworks, and the smell of the grill my Dad worked at." He said.

"You know, it's not too late to keep that memory alive."

He turned to her.
