Getting started

Haruki opened his eyes slowly. The bright light of the sun beaming down on him and blinding him. "B-bright…" He muttered as he sat up and looked around.

He was under a large tree with lush leaves and fruit he had never seen before. "Whoa… I guess I really was reincarnated" He looked down at his hands which were small and skinny unlike the ones he had in his previous life.

He looked down he was wearing a brown cloak with a fluffy collar

He then grabbed his face which was smooth and soft "a-am I younger?" He stood up and looked around for a lake or something that he could see his reflection in.

As he stood up he felt his something bump against to top of the tree. "H-huh? I'm not that tall am I?" Haruki reached up to touch his head but felt two wood like protrusions just above his forehead.

"W-what is this" he reached further up and felt more of them "A-are these antlers?!" He tried to calm himself down "W-why do I have antlers?"

A sudden cold voice entered his head "Answer: you are a demi-human of the 'deer' category"

Haruki look around surprised "w-who said that." The cold voice spoke once again "answer: this is the effect of the skill 'appraisal'"

"o-oh right I have skills and stuff now. Um.. system open?" A screen from a video game suddenly appeared in front of him. Haruki stumbled back in surprise an said "wow it really appeared!"

the screen displayed his stats that read: Name:Haruki lvl:1 gender:male species:Demi-human(deer) age:16(adult) HP:100 strength:10 speed:20 durability:10 mana:100 skills: blessing of the wood goddess

"huh what's this?" Haruki clicked on the skill which read "blessing of the wood goddess: user is unable to use any form of magic except wood in exchange the users aptitude for wood type magic is greatly increased and the user gets wood type skill three times easier" 

Haruki stared blankly at the skills info "that damn goddess… CURSED ME" Haruki fell to his knees feeling all his dreams of using teleportation magic and other cool magic fade away.

he tried to pull himself together "W-whatever! I'll just get really op wood magic just you wait!"

He focused on the tree behind him and managed to make a small branch grow from it "I-is this really all I can do…" He fell to his knees again feeling all the ambition from before fade once again.

"I-I'll have to train it a lot I guess…" suddenly the cold voice from before spoke once again "skill gained: wood manipulation" "oh?" Said Haruki in surprise.

he focused on the tree once again and and used his skill he could change the branches shape much easier this time "maybe this won't be so hard" he said hopefully

"but until I'm strong enough… I better prepare for a monster attack or something" he reached his hand out beneath the branch and created seeds that fell into the palm of his hand.

just then a rabbit with a horn on its head came out of the bushes "I guess this is the perfect time to try this out" he threw a seed towards the rabbit the seed sprouted and took the form of a sharp needle which impaled the rabbit.

the rabbit let out a cry of pain before charging at Haruki it jumped at him and it's razor sharp horn skimmed his cheek "Gah!" He shouted in pain the rabbit charged at him once again it jumped at him and Haruki grabbed it in mid air.

he created a makeshift weapon out of another seed and pierced its skull. Haruki panted and held his hand over his cheek "level up 1>2. Skill gained: wooden spear" 

"This is gonna take a while…" muttered Haruki
