Two days have passed since Ron's unexpected transmigration to this new world, his body, despite still being sore, has been slowly recovering, his bones which had been broken during the fall, had already begun to heal along the week he was unconscious, and After waking up his recovery had become much faster; His muscles, a little bit sore and clumsy from lack of physical activity, had now begun to recover little by little, yet Ron felt unaccustomed to his new body.

First, he was smaller now than he used to be, and even if his body recovered completely it wouldn't be anywhere near what he was in his previous life. Not only because he was 5 years older in his previous life, but also because he had received training in boxing and self-defense since he was 10 years old, which had made his body always stronger than most people his age.

This body, on the other hand, in addition to the injuries caused by the fall, was also completely out of shape, very thin and a little malnourished, perhaps this could be due to its poor diet over the last three months that the zombie apocalypse had been happening.

Whatever the reason was, it would definitely take some time to train and strengthen this new body, something absolutely necessary if he wanted to survive in this zombie apocalypse.

He would also need to learn how to shoot guns and fight with knives and blades to face the zombies.

'maybe a blunt weapon like a bat wouldn't be a bad idea,' the boy thought as he pondered his next steps in this world.

Soon the sunlight began to hide on the horizon, disappearing behind the high walls of the city, at least he had transmigrated to a safe place protected from zombies which was a huge advantage in Ron's books,

"Ron, Sam! Come down, dinner is ready!" Jessie, Ron's new mother shouted at them from the kitchen. Upon hearing her, Ron slowly dragged his injured body to the dining room and sat down at the table; Soon Sam came down and sat next to him, seeing that both brothers had taken their places Jessie proceeded to serve dinner, a meal prepared with different canned foods that Jessie had mixed and used to create a kind of vegetable soup more delicious than it seemed.

"Ron, honey, how are you feeling? I still see you a little pale." Jessie asked with concern.

"I'm fine, mom. Really, it's nothing. Have you seen how Sam is handling the fork? He is an expert!" Ron responded, trying to change the topic of the conversation.

"I'm practicing." Sam smiled sheepishly.

Just then Ron heard staggering footsteps approaching the door as Jessie shuddered for a moment before letting out a resigned breath.

"Looks like your dad is back guys," Jessie said as she got up from the table and headed to the kitchen while a drunk Pete staggered through the door and lay down on the couch.

"Jessie! Where is my dinner?" Pete shouted when he saw Ron and Sam at the table having dinner.

"I'm coming, Pete, give me a moment," Jessie answered hurriedly as she served food to her husband.

"This shit again?" Pete questioned, furious when he saw the improvised soup that Jessie had served him.

"It's all we have, the supplies in the warehouse are running out and they have begun to reduce the amount given to each family," explains Jessie with a trembling and scared voice while her body shakes a little.

Seeing this, Ron had a bad feeling about his seemingly perfect family.

"I don't give a damn, go tell them to give you something else, don't they know I'm the only damn doctor around here?" Pete demanded authoritatively making Jessie's shoulders shake with fear.

"You shouldn't talk to mom like that." Ron intervened as he stood up from the table, preparing to intervene if necessary.

"Is everything ok?" Sam asked, scared when he saw his brother get up.

"Calm down Sam, why don't you go up to your room for now? I'll call you when things calm down," Ron told his brother, shaking his hair with one hand as he took Sam's bowl of soup and handed it to him.

Sam obeys Ron and takes the bowl of soup and heads upstairs.

"Tomorrow I will order something else, for now, let's eat in peace, please." Jessie says to Pete in a pleading voice.

"I already told you I'm not going to eat this crap!!" Pete shouted as he threw the bowl of soup against the wall.

"It's always the same with you, can you ever do things right?" He continued yelling before lashing out at Jessie and slapping her.

"I don't want your leftovers! Understand" Pete continues to rant as he approaches Jessie who is now on the ground.

"Don't lay a hand on her!" Ron, who had been watching, ignored the pain in his body and jumped up and pushed Pete away from Jessie causing him to stumble against the kitchen counter.

"You insolent brat!" Pete shouted as he stood up and attacked Ron, punching him mercilessly.

Amid the hail of blows, Ron, despite his injuries, used the boxing experience from his past life to protect the vital points of his body,

"Don't get near mom!!" Ron shouts as he dodges and blocks his father's blows.

"I'm not going to let you hurt her." Ron declares, breathing heavily.

At that moment Ron glimpses a window in his father's relentless attack and without hesitation, Ron manages to land a couple of quick blows that disorient Pete.

"What...?" Pete confused by the sudden blows mutters under his breath.

Taking advantage of the confusion, Ron summons all his strength and tackles Pete towards the door; They both shot out and rolled down the stairs until they reached the street.

"Ron! Pete!" Jessie shouted worriedly as she ran towards the door.

Meanwhile, on the street, Ron, covered in bruises all over his body and with traces of blood coming out of his mouth, stands up, shaking off the dust, while Pete lies on the ground defeated and dazed, apparently the fall had knocked the wind out of his lungs leaving him unable to continue.

"Don't touch mom again!" Ron warns Pete, "And it's better if you leave and don't come back until you're sober," Ron continued before turning and heading towards his house.

Upon reaching the door, Jessie finally recovers from the shock and proceeds to check the wounds of his son

"Are you okay Ron?" Jessie asks when she sees the state of her son, but Ron just nods silently.

"Oh my god… why did you do that, don't you see that it's dangerous? Now look at you?" Jessie scolded Ron but her voice was filled with concern.

"I'm fine, mom. "It's just a few scratches," Ron calmed her while he processed what had happened.

Although he was aware that no matter what happened he was not able to look aside while his father hit his mother, that did not explain the enormous fury that invaded him when he saw this happening, now that everything had calmed down and he had time to hesitate his actions, he realized that maybe he was not free from the influence of the previous owner of his body.

'Whatever it is, it can wait until tomorrow' Ron mentally stated as he snapped out of his thoughts.

"It doesn't matter, let me check your wounds, we can't let them get worse, your father might…" Jessie continues to check Ron's wounds, but her voice trails off as the realization of what just happened hits her.

Ron appreciates her mother's unconditional care, once again renewing her desire to protect her and his little brother no matter the situation in this world.

That moment, by the corner of his eye, he caught a glimpse of his little brother hiding at the edge of the stairs 'talking about the king of Rome' thought Ron.

"Sam, come here" Ron called him

Hearing this, Sam hesitates a little before slowly walking down the stairs and approaching Ron.

"Ron, what happened? "Are you… are you okay?" Sam asked fearfully.

"calm down Sam. I'm fine, and you will be too." Ron answered as he wrapped him in his arms.

"Guys…" Jessie whispered as she looked at her two sons, a small smile appeared on her lips.

"Mom, listen. You don't have to worry, no matter what happens, I'm going to protect you… Sam and I are going to protect you… We won't let anything bad happen to you, right Sam?" Ron states and then turns to look at his little brother.

"Yes, mom, we will protect you." Sam nods in agreement, still in Ron's arms.

"My boys… you are so brave" says Jessie with tears in her eyes.
