The First Gig

John looked at the phone and saw that it was Rogue who was calling. Viktor could read the mood of the situation and paused the recording before John answered.

"What can we do for our favorite fixer?" asks John as he put Rogue on the loudspeaker so Nesiara and Viktor could hear her as well.

"You both wanted a gig, right?" asks Rogue seriously as she was tipping the precise detail while saying, "I have one. There is a small gig for you around Heywood to be precise the place is called Data Inc. in Wellsprings. I sent you more details in a message."

Rogue hangs up and the message arrives which John opens and reads out loud, "I'm guessing you both don't follow the stock market, but recently Militech has been lagging behind everyone else. Just stroll around Corpo Plaza and you'll see their HQ abuzz like a hornet's nest. You can tell they're just itching for an excuse to send the armed cavalry into the city.

You've got reasonable people telling you not to get under corps' skins, and then we have Rebeca Price, who decides to open a fucking store selling hacked (and previously stolen) Militech equipment. It's not that I don't value small businesses - on the contrary! It's just that not having the fucking army on our streets is something I value more.

Rebeca Price needs to disappear. The "how" is your call. I won't go into the fine details. And I'm sure you know what to do if any Animals get in your way. They of all creatures should understand the importance of balance in our delicate little ecosystem."

"I don't understand half of those words but I can deduct that we have to get that girl Rebeca Price and make her disappear somehow," says Nesiara as she didn't care about everything that Rogue wrote down.

"Maybe we should tell her that less text is better after finishing this job," says John as he turns to Viktor and says, "See you tomorrow Viktor. It is always good to learn new things."

"You are always welcome here," says Viktor as John stands up as well as Nesiara before they leave Viktor's clinic.

They see the cat sleeping and they resisted the urge of petting it as they passed it while John puts some more food into the bowl Misty uses for it.

They walk into Misty's Esoterica finding Misty relaxing on her chair when they say tell her that they will come again tomorrow since they wouldn't make it in time back today.

They reached the car and John was driving this time as Justice showed them the way when Nesiara asks, "Now how do we make her disappear? A bullet to her head and burn her corpse or do we convince her to leave this city?"

"How about we found out how much trouble the girl really is for us before deciding what to do to her," says John as he wasn't going kill a girl that is just trying to survive in this cruel world.

"Then we catch her alive and question her out. That works for me as well," says Nesiara as she didn't want to kill the girl either but that depends on her actions.

They soon arrived near the shop as they parked the car and they walked towards it. They looked like clients as they browsed through the shop while inspecting it.

'Can I take care of it?' asks Nesiara talking to John using telepathy as John looks around picking something.

'It is all yours,' says John back to her as he drops the item he had in his hand taking everyone's attention when he says, "Sorry about that."

At the same moment, Nesiara used the blunt side of her scythes to take out two big people that looked like bodybuilders before two turrets aim at her and shoot as she turns into her Wraith Form.

The turrets shot at the black smoke as it moved forward before her scythes manifested and it looked like a storm of scythes began to cut the turrets into pieces before Nesiara manifested again.

She looked at the man behind the counter while holding her scythe at his throat and asks coldly, "Where is your boss?"

The man was shaking in fear as he thought that they bit off more than they could chew. He points at the door behind himself while trying to activate the silent alarm to warn his boss only to find a scythe hit him against the head before everything turned black.

"I can understand that you hit the Animals that hard but the poor man will have a concussion after such a big hit," says John as he looked at the man that was laying on the ground bleeding from the spot Nesiara hit him.

"We are masters at healing have you forgotten that," says Nesiara remembering John about their healing magic.

"I know but a bit harder and even magic couldn't bring him back except we used Necromancy," says John seriously as he began to heal the man so he doesn't die.

Nesiara on the other hand continued going deeper inside as she passed the door to the backroom an Animal tried to blindside her only to find out that it touched nothing going through Nesiara.

Nesiara accidentally kills the person with her scythe because the enemy literally fell into the edge with Nesiara not being able to do anything against it since the edge of her scythes are sharp enough to cut easily through a person.

Nesiara looks at the enemy that was split in two and sighs before walking towards the head before closing the eyes of the person to let her go in peace.

Nesiara then continues on her way to find their target when she sees a normal-looking woman looking at her as if trying to do something with her mind which confused Nesiara.

"Why isn't it working?" asks the woman herself as John joins them.

"Aren't you going to catch her?" asks John to Nesiara as Nesiara walks slowly towards the woman taking one step then another and suddenly she disappeared out of the sight of the woman.

She appears behind the woman and knocks her out before throwing her towards John who puts her on his shoulder.

"Time to go then," says John as he walks up again towards the shop when he sees reinforcement and looks at Nesiara who was still holding her scythes before she rushed in front of John who only looked at the enemy.

She stepped forward showing the Animals that she won't hold back as she put the scythes together holding Nirvana in her hands.

The aura around Nesiara changed as a Reaper began to appear behind her holding a scythe instead of the usual Monkey King.

She was walking towards the Animals slowly as her aura grew bigger and bigger as the Animals seemed petrified by Nesiara and her aura. They haven't even noticed that they stepped slowly back to not get caught up by her scythe.

John was right behind Nesiara as she opened the way for them without even fighting. This showed John that Nesiara matured a lot compared to her former self who would have fought them to open the way.

They left the shop with the target when Nesiara dissolves the aura and separates the scythe in two again before putting them on her belt.

They walked towards the car and Nesiara touches it before they disappear as if they were never there which made the Animals quite nervous since they couldn't explain it to themselves.

John and Nesiara appeared in front of their penthouse to be exact they were on the platform where the Regalia is normally parked on. They walk to the penthouse and once inside they bind the girl on a chair.

John and Nesiara then enter the kitchen and begin to cook together as they weren't fond of the food in Night City so far the places they went gave them some questionable food.

Their hostage woke up from the smell of the food as she finds herself sitting at a table with a plate before her. She tries to stand up but couldn't do so like something was restricting her from doing so.

"Just stay still until we are at the table," says Nesiara as the girl was nervous thinking that they would poison her using food to make it appear natural.

Soon the food was served and she was surprised by the quantity of the food on the table when she asks, "What do you have in mind to do with me?"

"That depends on the answer you will give us," says John as he removes the binding with a snap of his fingers.

"Now eat we will talk later," says John as he went straight for the pork ribs followed by Nesiara while the girl seemed confused with the situation.

John sees her not eating and John says, "Grab your food rapidly or you will be sorry because there won't be any food until tomorrow morning."

The girl was still confused since she was their hostage at the moment as she asks, "Why are you treating me as if I am your guest?"

"Because you are at the moment and even if you tried to do something it wouldn't work against us since we are a hundred percent organic," says Nesiara which surprised the girl.

She now understood why her attempt to overload their brains didn't against them. She saw how rapid Nesiara was eating and began to put some potatoes on her plate while asking for some ribs.

John gave her some before he took the last rips making the girl almost forget the situation she was in as they began to talk making it look like a family dinner.

The dinner was over and they cleaned the plates when John asks, "Why did you buy that stuff? You should have known how dangerous it was before we appeared at your doorsteps."

"I needed money fast to help someone," says Rebeca as she now remembered that she was a hostage.

"Well our fixer told us to make you disappear but there are many ways to make you disappear. We will have to ask a friend of ours to forge you new papers before we send you out of the city. You will never return to Night City," says John as Rebeca conflicted wanting to say something when Nesiara interrupts her.

"This city corrupts the best of us. Now that you have a new chance to live your life with a clean slate. Don't waste it in Night City and look further. We will give you enough money so you can buy a car and survive for a year without worries but you need to become someone truly great," says Nesiara as she looked at Rebeca.

"What do you mean with that?" asks Rebeca as Nesiara looks at her and caresses her cheek.

"Someone that people look up to in times of need. Someone that can protect those around them," says Nesiara as she looks into Rebeca's eyes before asking, "Can you become someone like that?"

"I can try," says Rebeca as Nesiara looked at her seriously.

"Not try. You will or one day I will be standing again at your doorsteps and then it won't end like today," says Nesiara seriously as Rebeca could feel that Nesiara wasn't joking.

"I will do it," says Rebeca with confidence when Nesiara lets her go.

"Good, you will sleep on the couch until we get your papers and get you out of the city," says Nesiara as she dragged Rebeca away leaving John alone in the kitchen.
