First Real Combat

I awake from the short nap at home base and quickly leave my humble abode to the great unknown of the forest. A few minutes pass as I move through unknown territory, the forest slowly thickens once more as I reach the inner part of the forest.

I see these bugs all over the place, anything from ants and beetles to butterflies and mosquitoes, its insane how many creatures there are in this forest. I look around and see the creatures seem to get much bigger the farther I go, though the creatures seem to be large enough to fight for now, any farther and I'm afraid I will get slaughtered.

After a few rounds around the surrounding forest and finding nothing new I start my journey of the hunt. I look around carefully in stealth mode for any infrared signals of animals resembling mice, since they seem to be the most noncombat suited creatures in this forest from what I've seen of there starting bonuses and skills.

After a few moments the red signal appears before me that looks very close to that of the mouse I saw earlier, this time a little bit bigger though. The only problem is that the mouse is about 15 feet up, in a tree. Good thing I got that climbing skill, and to think of it I haven't even really used it since I first got it. I moved towards the tree and with a strange coiling movement I make it up the tree at a slow crawl. After the fifteen feet my body is a little exhausted but other than that i'm completely find.

The mouse seems to be resting as I slowly approach its body. This mouse is quite bigger than the last one I killed, it also has a large yellow line on it but still I slowly edge forward to it. I pounce on it using the skill Poison Strike. My fangs quickly bite into the sleeping mouse as it frantically tries to escape.

I see the small electric line on the small mouse start to spark as I realize the mistake I just made. The mouse releases an electric discharge that makes me release the mouse from my grasp as it moves forward and turns around with an absolute murderess look on his face. 'It electrocuted the inside of my mouth', I quickly pounce on it once more but this time its ready, electricity shocking me and dealing me a handful of damage for my troubles.

The mouse looks a little exhausted but still looked incredibly angry as it starts to charge towards me. I quickly notice this and counter attack. The strike misses wildly but the rat gets another discharge right into my skin.

After the system prompted just how dangerous this situation was I did not hesitate and activated my newly acquired Mind Boost skill. The world seemed to slow down as the skill activated and the strange electricity became much more easier to dodge. After a quick dodge to the left of the beast I made once more a bite on the creature.

The mouse looked almost sluggish after I managed to bite him, that upgraded poison skill really seemed to be paying out right now. After a few minutes of holding the mouse he finally collapsed dead on the ground.

The amount of exp wasn't much but it would add up if I could win a couple more combats like this. After taking this much damage though it would be better if I headed home quickly. After scarfing the mouse down I dashed back home and took a nice little nap, and after that I went out into the vast forest to hunt and explore once more. I stumble back into the dense forest quickly and go searching around looking through the forest.

On my way through the forest I discovered a rather large nest of a bird that wasn't there. Seeing the large sizes of the eggs I was rather tempted to steal them but a bird that could hatch eggs that size must be truly massive in size.

After a little while longer in the forest the I hear a new notification from the system.

I hooted as I found the level up to have significantly improved the range and sight of the ability. After a slight movement I found a large butterfly slowly flying around a tree. The marvelous patterns on the butterfly where simply mesmerizing as it slowly made its way towards me. The butterfly gently lied on my scaly surface after a few moments. See even in this harsh jungle there can be some ray of hope for a friendly animal. Just as I thought that I feel a searing pain coming from where the butterfly laid.

I quickly thrashed around but the butterfly seemed to be firmly attached. after a few moments I got a notification from the system that sent shivers down my incredibly long spine.

I thrash in an increased pace finally banging myself on a tree to get the butterfly to release me. After a few more hard poundings the butterfly is now just smithereens on the tree.

What the heck. A Blood Sucking Butterfly, what kind of monster would create such an abomination. That's it, I give up hope for there to be a shred of decent creatures in this forest, there all monsters for all I care, well except me of coarse, i'm a human reincarnated as a monster, theirs a difference I promise.

After resting for a little bit I continue into the forest. I look in happiness as I found a normal source of water in this forest. Having to drink that searing mana water was quite painful, and at last I have found a normal pond. I greedily rush to the pond and drink happily from it. After a few moments I see a gradual disturbance come from the top of the lake. I hurriedly rush back to the save haven of grass and activate stealth. A large turtle appears slowly moving forward at a snails pace. The turtle makes its way to a patch of grass and slowly starts eating.

A light bulb goes off through my head. I haven't been able to use my mana now because any creature I have to use it on takes to long and they could easily dodge my attack. If I attack this ultra slow tortoise there is no way that he could dodge in time, its the perfect opportunity to test out my new skill. I ready in the shrubs as I slowly release mana from my body into the air. The mist slowly forms into the shape of a ball as it grows in size, after a couple minutes the ball is done and I half haphazardly launch the ball at the tortoise. The turtle lies there not aware of the ball of destruction coming its way. In a few moments the ball hits the sturdy shell and a great piercing sound is made as the shell cracks and the turtle is left incredibly vulnerable.

The turtle raises his head and moves at a snails pace to the safety of the water. I dash towards his back and bite into the newfound opening on his back, sinking my teeth into the unarmored flesh. After sinking my teeth into its flesh the system gives me the long awaited for notification.

The turtle tries to snap at me, but I am at a blind spot on it's back and no matter how hard it struggles the turtle can only really sit there and die do to my poison. A few minutes past and an aching feeling appears in my jaws as hanging on for this long is starting to hurt my jaws, but I feel that the creature is almost dead. After a few more minutes the creature is still standing while I'm left with a new notification from the system.

Ahhh how long do I have to bite this huge idiot. A few more minutes pass and slowly the turtle falls to the floor unmoving, dead. I then lay there on his back as I slowly regain my strength. After recovering a bit of stamina I bite into the sucker and eat quite the feast. After a few minutes of chowing down I see the notification given to me by the system.

....what. SO MANY POINTS. Daddy's gonna be eating good tonight. I look at the amount of AP points and decide that Spell casting is overpowered and quickly put 4 into each of my mental stats. After that comes the most Delicious part yet, Evolution points. A few moments later the skill shop opened up.

I greedily look at the new abilities and quickly choose the best three I can find. I purchase Mental Strength, Mental Speed, and Recurved Teeth. These abilities will help greatly with my magic skills, while the other ability, Recurved Teeth, will help prevent any sneaky buggers from escaping from my vice like jaw. After the new updates I look happily at my new status.

But shortly after I hear a large buzzing sound as the ground seems to shake. Somethings coming and quick. I dash behind a tree and activate stealth as a huge shadow casts over the area.
