"EXCUSE ME MISS"
Even though she had her makeup on, she was still a little wary of the man.
It was because he was 'that' man's brother. Blood was thicker than water, he had once proved it. To stop his brother from acting crazy due to her, he had planned on killing her.
They once used to be good friends, but later turn out to be worst enemies. It all started because of that day.
Jennifer sighed thinking about all those painful memories.
She could not let this man recognise her.
Even though she had hidden her face through make up, her voice was the same. If she would now change her voice, Ava will definitely question her.
Jennifer started to think of a solution. That's when she saw a waiter bringing out hot tea from the meeting area.
Without a second thought, Jennifer took the tea cup from him and drank the tea.
"Ahh," Ava turned towards Jennifer hearing her suddenly cry out.
"What happened Alissa?" She then glanced down at the broken tea cup, which had shattered everywhere near Jennifer's feet.
"Oh God!! Why did you drink such a hot tea?" turning towards the shocked waiter, she hurriedly called him, "Bring her some water, quick."
"Yes, mam."
The waiter ran off as fast as he could.
In reality, Jennifer had not even taken a sip from the tea. She had merely acted drinking it. Now it was enough for her to change her voice.
Ava was angrily reprimanding her, "How can you be so careless Alissa? You may have nearly lost your voice. Why did you have to drink that hot tea?"
"You are exaggerating, I just felt uncomfortable in my throat, hence I drank it." Jennifer's voice changed, and sounded little hoarse.
Hearing her Ava exclaimed, "What happened to your voice?"
"It will be alright once I get some rest. I will drink water and will try to soothe my throat."
"You better get well, or else how will you be able to speak with my cousin?"
'Who wants to speak with that two horn devil.'
The waiter soon, returned with two glasses of water. One was cold and the other was normal.
Jennifer drank both the glasses, but her voice remained the same.
"Will you become mute? Should we go to a hospital?" Ava asked concerned.
What the hell mute and her!!
"Ava you don't have to worry this much. We will go to a doctor, if I don't get well after a night's rest. Let's go now, the meeting will be starting soon."
Ava reluctantly agreed, "You better get yourself checked. I will not be happy to have a mute friend."
Jennifer merely chuckled. She walked past the man normally. But suddenly stopped when a voice called from behind, "Excuse me miss."
Jennifer turned back a little hesitantly. She was just going to open her mouth, but Ava beat her in it ,"Oh, hello sir. Were you calling for me?"
The man turned his gaze from Ava to Jennifer.
"I am sorry, I thought I saw someone I knew."
"Oh, it's okay." Ava smiled knowingly and then the two turned and left.
