Chapter 2

Xuan Yin managed to dodge the attack on time. Her face paled as she turned to look at the broken pieces of the plate and her heart skipped a beat. If that plate had landed on her earlier, most especially on her face, she'd have died…

Her body was trembling in fear.

She met Gao Ming some years back at a party. It was love at first sight. Gao Ming was the most handsome guy among his friends and he was the only one that caught her eyes. Throughout the party, her eyes didn't leave his figure. It was after the party that she walked up to him courageously and confessed her feelings, only for her to be brutally rejected. 

She was hurt, but that made her more determined to get him. After some months, she later found out that he had a girlfriend and she was the CEO of the Bao corporation. She felt hatred for Bao Caihong. She was determined to snatch Gao Ming from her which she successfully did.

She wouldn't allow anyone or anything to take what belongs to her. She wouldn't let him slip through her fingers this time around.

"Caihong!" Gao Ming looked at Bao Caihong, shocked. "What has gotten into you?" He frowned at her.

He had always known Bao Caihong as someone who was calm and reserved around him. Although, he had seen her countless times lose her temper. Even if she did, she would apologize first. But today, she seems so different from the person he used to know.

He turned to look at Xuan Yin, quickly checking if she got hurt. "YinYin, are you hurt?" Gao Ming asked, worriedly.

Xuan Yin took that as an opportunity and leaned weakly into his arms. She said in a low and soft voice, displaying her weakness. "MingMing, it's fine. She didn't mean to do that. She was just angry. It's all my fault"

Bao Caihong's eyes landed on Gao Ming's arm that was wrapped around Xuan Yin's waist and she sneered. "You just broke up with me, yet you are acting intimate with your mistress right in front of me"

Xuan Yin's body froze and her hand tightened into a fist.

Mistress?

Gao Ming closed his eyes and sighed. "Caihong" he called out her name, in a low voice.

"What? Am I wrong? Isn't she the mistress?" Caihong said, her tone full of contempt. "You cheated on me with this thing and you expect me to forgive you both? Keep dreaming" her beautiful eyes were filled with dark glint, shooting daggers at Xuan Yin as she sized her up.

Gao Ming's face darkened, "Bao Caihong! That's enough! She isn't a mistress, okay?"

"Oh really?" She eyed Xuan Yin as her lips curled up.

Xuan Yin felt so uncomfortable under Bao Caihong's gaze. If looks could killed, she believed that she would have died that instant. She lowered her head and bit her lower lip. The people of Beijing were full of praises for Bao Caihong for her enchanting appearance. She thought it was all flattery, not until she saw pictures of her. Now that she was standing in front of Bao Caihong, she felt they were incomparable. 

In terms of status, Bao Caihong was in a very high rank while she was just from a family that they had to feed from mouth to mouth. She felt so jealous and angry.

"Tsk Tsk" Bao Caihong tsked twice. She took a step closer, looked at Xuan Yin with disdain as she leaned closer to whisper into her ear, "He's just a man I left over anyways. You can take him if you want"

The expression on Xuan Yin's face changed instantly; from being shocked to embarrassment and then to anger. Those words were like stray bullets, hitting her from all corners. She raised her head to look at Bao Caihong with much hatred and anger.

A left over?

What she had always hated was for someone to look down on what she wanted and loved. She felt that she had won since Gao Ming was hers now, but the nonchalant attitude Bao Caihong was giving was getting on her nerves. She knew Bao Caihong was hurt; the pain, heartbreak and anger in her eyes, she could see it.

Gao Ming didn't hear what Bao Caihong said to her. He wrapped his arm around Xuan Yin's waist protectively and pulled her closer. He furrowed his eyebrows. "What did you say to her?" Xuan Yin felt her heart warmed up as she looked at the woman standing in front of them with a smug smile. She knew Gao Ming would never let her down.

"I said…" Bao Caihong averted her gaze from Xuan Yin to look at Gao Ming. She continued with a smirk on her lips, "You are just left over. She can have you all she want, I don't give a f*ck"

Gao Ming was shocked by her words. His mouth was opened, but no words came out from his mouth, apart from her name. "Bao…Caihong…"

Ever since they started dating, she had been a source of calm and respect in his life, but today, when she looked him in the eye and spoke those harsh words, it felt like a betrayal. The anger and heartbreak welled up inside him, but he couldn't understand why.

He saw Bao Caihong take a step closer and said, "Mark my words both of you, I'll make life miserable for you. I'll make you regret coming into my life. I'll make you beg for death, but it will never come" he could see the anger and hatred in her eyes. He kept his face impassive, but his eyes betrayed his fear. Even when he tried to hide his emotions, his eyes kept reflecting his fear back at him.

He knew who Bai Caihong was. He knew how ruthless she could be when she was angry, but he was sure she wouldn't hurt him because of the love she had for him. She only said that out of anger.

Xuan Yin reached out to grab Gao Ming's arm, her grip tightening. She saw that he wasn't saying anything and frowned. She tugged gently at his sleeve, but he remained frozen in place, his gaze fixed on Bao Caihong who picked up her bag and walked out of the room. It wasn't until the door slammed shut that he turned to look at the woman by his side.

"I'm sorry, MingMing. It's all my fault" her voice was soft and pleading as she whispered. She looked at him with her big, round eyes, her face etched with a look of contrition. He couldn't bring himself to blame her for what happened. He was free to fall in love with whoever he wanted and he happened to fall in love with her. He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her in for a hug. "It's not your fault, baby. I love you" he kissed her forehead as he said.

The expression on Xuan Yin's face changed and a sly and triumphant smile appeared at the corner of her lips. She wrapped her arms around his waist and said, shyly, "I love you too, MingMing"
