Part 36 - The Don

Ichibe was in thought. On one hand, he was very happy that Lei Feng had gotten that much information on the matter. He was new to America but had managed to settle and improve the Gotei 13's footing in a very short period of time.

But on the other hand, he wasn't very happy. He had already met the Kree empire. Not officially but he had seen them work and he knew of their methods.

He didn't approve of them.

And a Kree soldier landing on earth was not a good sign. There was always more where that one came from. After returning from Vormir, he talked with the Ancient One about the Kree empire.

She told him about them and also about the incident six years ago. Where a Kree scientist died after working on some sort of engine to help end the war with the Skrulls.

And that was the other thing he didn't like. The Skrulls on earth. There was the chance of them staying on earth and eventually taking an interest in this planet.

He didn't like this turn of events, but at least his feeling was right. It would have been a mistake to go to Vormir again. He would have missed this and that might have been a mistake.

Ichibe left his room and went to visit the Ancient One. He had to discuss this with her. Unlike his other business, which only concerned the Gotei 13, this was maybe important to the entire earth.

And while Ichibe was perfectly able to handle this, he wanted to hear Yue's take on all of this. She had other means of getting information as well, so it was good either way.

Ichibe walked through Kamar-Taj and found the Ancient One sitting in the library. She was drinking tea and reading a book, that she had placed on her lap.

"Ichibe, are you here for another spar or did something happen?", she asked without raising her head.

"Do you know about the Kree that landed on earth?"

The Ancient One raised her head at that comment. After looking at him for a while, she then had a realization that showed on her face.

"Oh, now I understand what you are talking about. You see the situation is more complex than it would seem. I recommend you make yourself a picture of things before deciding on a plan.

Besides, I trust you to make the right choices anyway."

After saying that, she proceeded to read her book.

"Ok.", Ichibe said and left the library.

It wasn't allowed to open a portal in the library and he wasn't feeling like teleporting either way. He wanted to use his Flash step again. Therefore he decided to go on foot.

America wasn't that far away, and he could use the fresh air.

So using Shunpo, Ichibe made his way to Los Angeles, to find the Kree soldier called Vers.

He realized that they weren't here anymore. But he wanted to let his inner Sherlock Holmes take over and find out where they went. He could of course simply ask Lei Feng, but where's the fun in that?

For that reason, Ichibe disguised himself and made his way to the scene of the crash. Apparently, the woman fell into a Blockbuster and then acted like it was no big deal.

Ichibe listened to all sorts of discussions and was able to follow the wreckage made by the Kree and the Skrull she was hunting down.

This led him nowhere though. He had to find other means of information. He gets lucky and hears some biker complain about some 'chick' that stole his motorcycle and then drove off.

Ichibe approaches the man and acts interested.

"Excuse me, sir, I am George Alaga from the DDC, I'm currently looking for someone to give me an amazing story about what happened and you seem like you know a lot.

Could you tell me what happened with this 'scuba diver woman' you say stole your bike?"

The man with the Alias, The Don was more than happy to tell Ichibe all he knew about the incident and even started to dish up unbelievable details the longer he talked.

All that Ichibe wanted to know was the direction she left anyway, everything else was simply a façade. And Ichibe liked to goof around when he had time. And this seemed like a good time.

"Interesting, so you're saying that she kicked your nether region, slammed your own helmet on your noggin' and then drove over your leg with the bike she stole from you?

You, sir, are an American hero. The world needs to find out about this. Thank you very much, I'll be in touch, and we will call you when the interview will go down.

For now, goodbye and have a nice day."

Ichibe left the diner with his notes in hand.

"Awesome. I'm going to be famous. See guys, that's why I'm the Don."

"Yo Don, congratulations. That's quite the feat man, surviving a crazy woman during the day and then getting on the news at night."

All his friends at the bar were congratulating him until one of them pointed something important out.

"I'm more impressed with the way they know all our phone numbers man."

Everyone looked at him with questions.

"What?"

"Well, I mean he didn't even have to write down your phone number, so he obviously has it already.

And if he has yours then he must have everyone's phone number."

Things started to become clearer for everyone and they started to get suspicious.

"Yo Don, I just checked the internet. There is no news channel called the DDC. It's called the BBC and there is also no person named George Alaga either. And he doesn't even look the same!"

"… Shit."
