Sleeping and sleeping again

Nico didn't come back for a long time so when River woke we just went back into the water. Without our guide, we had to rely on River's water powers to guide us. Eventually, we found a cave. Inside someone was crying, and I heard someone else screaming, almost as if they were in pain. We slowly swam inside where there were no lights except for a faint glow near the end of the tunnel. We swam forward and got pulled back by an arm! I tried to struggle away but I couldn't. Eventually, the person turned us around and it was Nico!

"Shh." she said "She's almost dead but if we go out now we'll be dead too."

I turned to see and the view was horrifying. On the floor lay a tall girl with long blond hair. Next to her was a girl with burn marks all over her. She was the one screaming. Nearby a girl with short dark hair stood crying.

I turned around and whispered "What do we do? She's going to die."

Nico shook her head "Even if we save her now it's too late. It's not worth it."

Ignoring Nico I started to swim forward but suddenly I slammed into an invisible wall! I fell to the ground and hit my head hard.

"I'm sorry," said River as I fell unconscious

I don't remember much from when I was unconscious I heard a girl talking but I wasn't sure who she was. Someone else responded, I think it was River but I wasn't sure. I heard someone cry and when I woke Nico was bent over the tall girl's body. River was standing nearby talking to the girl with short hair but when she saw I was awake she came over.

"Sorry again. I couldn't let you get yourself killed. This is Gwen" she gestured to the girl with short hair who waved to me "She's one of the hunters. I'm afraid the only one left."

River turned to Nico who was still crying over the other girl

"That's Lily," said Gwen so quietly I could barely hear her. "Her and Nico started dating only a month ago."

Suddenly Nico looked up. She grabbed Lily's body and started desperately swimming up and out of the cave. River must have given her a boost because she rocketed out of there then we did too. When I looked back I saw some sort of monster then I slammed into a rock and was knocked unconscious once again.
