Chapter 5

When morning came, Shirley thought the case through. Shirley said, "I don't get it. First, Diane is normal, then more skilled than me, and then turns on me. When did this start? Wait, while we were at our hotel." Shirley returned to Flordia but didn't know that Diane was in the trees and spying on her. Then Diane got on her motorcycle and chased after Shirley. When Shirley got to their hotel, she snuck up to the room they stayed in, took her video camera, and plugged it into the security camera. Shirley opened her camera and watched Diane enter the room and come out half an hour later. Shirley rewinded the tape and zoomed in on Diane's wrist. Shirley said, "Diane wasn't wearing that bracelet before she entered the room. And I bet that packaging I found on the floor was the wrapping paper the bracelet came in."

Shirley was watching the video when the cord got shot with a gun. Shirley looked down the hall and saw Diane holding a weapon. Diane put the gun back in her pocket and ran to Shirley. Shirley said, "Time to check out." Shirley ran down the hall and hit the down button on the elevator. When it opened, Shirley pushed floor 1, and the elevator shut before Diane got to Shirley. Diane said, "I'll be waiting for her when she comes out." Diane ran for the stairs and took them down to level 1. Shirley said, "I better be careful since Diane will be waiting for me." Shirley moved part of the elevator's ceiling open, jumped, crawled out of the elevator and to the top of it, and rode it down to level 1. Diane stood ahead of the elevator when she got to level 1 and waited for Shirley to come out. When the doors opened, Diane saw the elevator was empty. Diane said, "Where'd she go?" Diane left, and Shirley looked down into the elevator. Shirley said, "She's gone."

Shirley jumped back in the elevator and ran for the doors. Shirley opened the doors and saw Diane standing behind them. Shirley slammed the doors on Diane and ran for her life. Diane kicked the doors open and chased after Shirley. Shirley jumped over the check-in counter, and so did Diane. Then Diane threw a phone at Shirley, but Shirley dunked, and the phone flew over her head. Shirley jumped out the window, and so did Diane, but when Diane got out there, she lost Shirley's trail. Diane left, and Shirley came out of the garbage can she was in. Shirley got somewhere safe and took a look at the packaging she found. Shirley said, "This handwriting looks familiar. It even has a return address. 5540 Huson Ave." Shirley went to the return address and saw it was an apartment building. Then Shirley went to the tenth floor because that's where the return address led her. Shirley peered out of the elevator and saw Diane standing still. Shirley snuck in and hid under the piano to spy on what was happening.

A female ninja came down the stairs, stood in front of Diane, and Diane bowed. Diane said, "Master." The ninja removed her mask, and Shirley saw that it was Sherry. Shirley said, "I knew it." Diane pushed the piano away and saw Shirley. Sherry said, "How precious the prey has come to us." Shirley said, "It's over, Diane; give me the bracelet." Diane said, "I don't think so. It's too fun being on the side of evil." Diane pushed a button on a remote. Then the floor opened; Shirley saw sharks in a toxic moat. Sherry pulled a switch on the wall, and a cage dropped on Shirley. Sherry raised the cage to the ceiling and pulled another switch on the wall. Then, a screen appeared in Shirley's cage, showing a picture of hypnotizing twirls. Shirley looked at the screen and started to get hypnotized. Sherry said, "Shirley Holmes is under my control, and Diane Watson works for me. No way I can be stopped."

Robin Hood was outside the window and saw Shirley standing in her cage, speechless. Robin Hood snuck in through the window and climbed up to Shirley. Then he reached into her backpack, grabbed her sunglasses, and put them on her face. Since Shirley wasn't looking at the screen, she became unhypnotized. Shirley said, "Thank Robin Hood." Shirley opened her cage and jumped down from the ceiling. While Sherry and Diane watched TV, Shirley and Robin Hood snuck behind them. Shirley said, "It's over, Sherry; time to give me back my partner." Sherry snapped her fingers and pointed at Shirley and Robin Hood.

Sherry said, "OK, partner, destroy them." Diane jumped off the sofa and kicked Robin Hood down. Then Diane tried to kick Shirley, but Shirley defended herself. Shirley said, "Robin Hood, we need to get out of here." Diane said, "You're not going anywhere." Diane grabbed Shirley and threw her to the wall. Then Shirley got slammed against the wall, grabbed Robin Hood, and ran upstairs. Sherry said, "Don't just stand there; bring them back." Shirley and Robin Hood jumped out the window and fell ten stories down. Shirley said, "Parachute would be nice right now." Shirley looked at her back and got an idea. Shirley said, "Wait, I can improvise." Shirley removed her coat, put it above her, and used it as a parachute. Shirley and Robin Hood ran off as fast as they could, but Diane chased after them. Shirley said, "We gotta give Diane the slip somehow." Robin Hood said, "I have an idea."

Shirley and Robin Hood ran down an alley and jumped in a dumpster so Diane wouldn't see them. Diane ran down the alley they ran down, but didn't see them. Diane walked down the alley and started to look for Shirley and Robin Hood. Diane said, "Must destroy Shirley Holmes, must destroy Shirley Holmes, must destroy Shirley Holmes." Shirley opened the dumpster quietly and saw Diane in the alley. Diane said, "Must destroy Shirley Holmes, must destroy Shirley Holmes, must destroy Shirley Holmes." Shirley closed the dumpster, and Diane looked back because she thought she had heard something. Then Diane jumped over the brick wall at the end of the alley and ran off. Shirley opened the dumpster and saw Diane was gone. After Diane left, they both climbed out of the dumpster covered in garbage. Shirley said, "OK, maybe the dumpster wasn't a good idea after all." Shirley took a plastic cup off her back, and Robin Hood took off a banana peel on his head. Robin Hood said, "Yeah, well, maybe you could have been less scared of your partner." Shirley said, "You want to kill me." Shirley and Robin Hood left the alley, and Sherry saw them through her binoculars. Sherry said, "So, they were in the alley all along. Well, we'll get them next time."
