Chapter two:
Eddy was always by my side through everything. He always wanted to be there for me. Some even say he had fallen in love with me, and that I was too blind to realize that. My sophomore high school year was very rough I was insecure about my looks and my father has past away. I remember that day when I came home. I came home to the cops and my dad's coworkers in my house. Eddy came inside with me to make sure everything was okay. Everyone was in the living hugging my mom as she cried her eyes out. I didn't know what happened but I knew what happened at the same time. The soon I realized that my father wasn't there I fell I given up hope. I fell to the floor crying in Eddy's arms. He combed my dirty blonde hair back so he see my face and he pulled me up closer so I would be on his lap and crying on his shoulder. Eddy picked me up and carried me into the living with everyone and sat on the couch with me and my mom. It was so hard to hear those words the officer said "I'm so sorry Ma'am but John died on the scene there was no possible way he could of survived a steel pipe through his skull pinned against the ground" he looked at the ground in shame and walked away. Then Gary his best-friend who worked with him came up to me. "You're father had this in his pocket and said to give you this on your sixteenth birthday, and I know it's tomorrow but I know he would want to have it now" it was a necklace with a butterfly engraved 'let your dreams fly'. My father knew I loved butterflies he always drew them for me. Gary gave me a great huge hug. He kept apologizing for what happened, but it wasn't his fault at all. It was simply a terrific horrible accident everyone said.
My father had a closed casket funeral, I wanted to see his face to bad before we buried him that afternoon. I wore my necklace proudly. My mother pulled me aside and said "you know when we went to the store your father seen that necklace and bought it immediately when he seen it. He said 'graceful just like our daughter' " that made me smile because I knew and remembered me how much my father loved me. Everyone came to his funeral he was very well known in the town he even worked with the school events of mine like plays and fundraisers. Even O'l man Dan came a friendly old face. He came over and took his hat off and surprised my mom. She had the biggest smile I seen all day on her face. "oh gosh you came!" "Why wouldn't I you and John always treated me like family". "Thank you so much for coming Danny". "My pleasure I couldn't believe my eyes when I seen the news and in the papers". "Yes, too bad Athena's birthday didn't go as plan, everything happened the day before". "I couldn't imagine what it felt like for her, I got her a present in my truck if don't mind I'll stop by after.....I got her a kitten" he whispered ever so quietly you could hear a mouse squick. "She'll love it thank you Dan". "You're welcome I see you have a bump right there?" "Yes I am 9 months pregnant he will be here shortly." "Oh he is a boy I see, any names yet?" "Yes Luka, my old ancestor were from Salem and my uncle who was accused of witchcraft was named Luka" "Awww very interesting dear".
Eddy walked in once school let out with his parents. Eddy ran so fast toward me and hugged me so tight he picked me up and hugged me even tighter. "I am always here for you Athena" then he brushed his red hair back. Then Ellen and William gave me a hug and told me that they invited my mom and I out to eat later tonight. I smiled and said "so can we go to Golden Corral?" "Yes darling" Ellen said kissing my head. Eddy took my hand and walked with me to my father's coffin. "Mind I ask who that old man is with your mom?" Eddy asked while pointing. I chuckled and said "don't point it's rude and that O'l man Dan or Danny who helped my parents out a lot. He helped my father save me with that wild dog attack." "So he is that guy?" "Yes he is very nice and polite i'll introduce you". We walked over and I introduced Eddy. "Hi Danny" I said smiling. "This is my dear friend Edison LongThrone, I wanted to introduce you two". "Awww I see I figured this handsome lad would of been your boyfriend " he chuckled. "Ha-ha- no I am not sure, she's my best friend. " eddy replied brushing his red hair out of his face and tried to hide his smile. "I am only kidding lad" dan laughed and patted Eddy's shoulder.
An older women came and asked my mother is she was ready for the ceremony. She was an old women with withered skin and gray hair and red stained lips and thick chunky black eyeliner, and blue eyeshadow. My mother smiled and nodded and the lady hugged and said "god bless you my dear". She plugged in a mic into a speaker and started "hello everyone may I have your attention I wanted to start.....Mr. Moore a husband a father of one and soon to be two. He was a great friend and was a wonderful man to those all he meet. My god bless his soul may god take him in his hands and lead his family. I want to thank everyone you came to support Mrs. Jesse and Athena Moore's loss. Now let me sing you a song.....". She sung like an angel Eddy let me cry on his shoulder, he didn't cry much but I knew he knew he wanted to but wanted to be strong for me. He looked at me and rubbed my tears away and kissed my cheek and brushed my hair back. I cried harder as memories flashed in my head of me and my father. From when he bought me those rain boots when I was five in the old house. To when I got my period. To when I grew boobs. To when I started middle school and the talk about boys my freshmen year. The harder I cried the tighter Eddy hugged me.
Golden Corral felt so great it gave me a distraction. My mom and Eddy's parents decided to dedicate that day November 26th the day my father died to go out and eat at Golden Corral. We ate a lot specially me I haven't ate since the news about my father, I inhaled food my thin body made a little bump. I laughed and said "look I'm pregnant with a food baby" I showed my mom and everyone at the table and they all laughed. Then in the corner of my eye I seen Thomas or Tommy people call him the high school quarterback. We went out once before, but I broke up with him because he tired to force himself on me. Then Eddy broke his nose over it. Sadly the cops didn't have any evidence for me to press charges and go to court my words against his.
Tommy stared at me when I said "I'm pregnant with a food baby" he snapped a picture of it and posted and wrote on the post "the twig bitch got a red hair ball fucker growing in her, everyone congratulate her on her returning". That news spread like wildfire.
The day of my returning the football team walked up to me and shoved me and said "how's the bun in your oven" laughing and pushing me. "What are you talking about?" "You're pregnant you slut". Tommy yelled shoving me into the locker. I tired to push him out the way, but he grabbed me by the hair and pushed me to ground. Then his girlfriend Destiny walked up to him and kicked me in the ribs. "No one cares that your father died maybe he deserved you fucking slut" destiny whispered as she walked away. My friend Isabelle helped me up and she begged me to tell a principle. "What proof do I have?" "Then tell Eddy!" "No he will take it out of proportion". Then Eddy came up behind us and said "don't tell Eddy what?" "Destiny kicked her and the football ganged up on her!" Isabelle yelled and pulling me from walking away. "Are you serious? Do I need to bloody his nose?" He said grabbing me. "No just drop it he's been doing this since eighth grade year" I said choking back my tears. I ran into the girls bathroom and hid in the stall and cried. I reminisced with the words Destiny told me it kept playing over and over again. I left when the bell rang to dismiss class.
My teacher pulled me aside and said "Athena I know it's going to be hard this week or two for you you can take your time as you need and talk to me whenever. If you need help with anything just let me know". Mostly all my teachers told me that. They were just giving me sympathy cause they left bad. I fell into a gloomy depressing mood I felt no reason in life.
In gym class I usually change in the stall because of my scars I felt embarrassed from them. But today Destiny decided to pay me a visit she swung open and announce my present and threw me to the ground and yelled "she's a freak look at the beast!!" Everyone looked at me and laughed. I heard destiny say under her breathe "how wonder your dad killed himself because of your ugly creature." I lost it I lunged after her and grabbed her hair and slammed her head into the mirror and broke it and cut her face badly. Then she started screaming the gym teacher ran in with me on top on her continuously punching her in the face. She had to grab me and pull me off of her.
I wasn't suspended for three days she was surprisingly. They didn't even press changers on me even tho she got 30 stitches on her face, but she did start it. The worse they did was gave me detention for a week. My mother wasn't even disappointed, about the incident she high fived me and took me to steak and shake to celebrate. "So how did it feel?" "What do you mean?" "The rush of fury?" "It felt amazing!" "I'm glad they have been bulling you since eighth grade now you got your revenge". "Why do they bully me mom?" "That will be a question I don't have an answer for babe". "I wish they would stop, I have done nothing to them at all expect expose Thomas Gilbert for who he is." "I know darling, how's your turtle Carmel nut milkshake?" "Great" I replied with a big smile my mom loved to see me smile. The ride home was fun we talked crap about the football team and made fun of the world.
That night I slept okay. But I woke up in my deep dreams asking for Jeremiah TomHeart. I slept walked to my moms room and said "Jeremiah TomHeart is coming to protect his Lunar Maiden me, Athena Avery Moore shall be his Lunar Maiden." My eyes turned a emerald red and my mother said I rose into the air. Then I walked into my room and fell back to sleep according to my mother.
I woke up the next morning and went down stairs Eddy was cooking pancakes, well he was trying. He laughed and asked what was a Lunar Maiden. I looked at him with confusion and replied "why would I know what that is" and my mom interrupted "well apparently last night you had an episode and said you'll be Jeremiah TomHeart's Lunar Maiden" she chuckled. "Time for Well done pancakes begone salmonella poisoning!" Eddy said lifting a dark crispy burnt slab. I pushed him out of the laughed and started cooking instead. I whispered to Eddy "I found my moms old high school diary I need to show you a part in it meet at our place after breakfast?" "Sure thing honey ba boo" he replied laughing at me because I looked to serious.
"So listen read this page in my mother's diary her senior year!" I shoved the book into his arms
" February 25th 1998
Dear Diary I need to write to you to get this out of my mind. My daughter Athena Moore who I bare and carry now will be Jeremiah TomHeart's prophecy Lunar Maiden. She had been chosen by the dark lord himself. All through her life till her seventeenth birthday Jeremiah will protect her. I can't believe my best friend is a vampire. Jeremiah why him? He should of told me sooner before I was to bare a child...."
"What am I suppose to do?" I asked Eddy with a concern face. He thought it was a whole joke, but in reality it's my life...
