The Attack

It's been one month since the accident, Eric Crown and his men have still not made significant head way in identifying our mystery woman.

Although Bolt told Eric from what he has uncovered so far; that she was a kidnapped victim that ran away.

That information should have immediately put me on high alert, but it didn't. Eric got distracted by the baby and looking for information about her mother.

That was a big mistake, because an attempt was made on our mystery woman's life while we were all busy looking for information to identify her.

Eric Crown got a call from a very frantic Dr. Robert telling him that someone tried to kill our mystery woman with a pillow in her room but was caught by a nurse who was doing her daily rounds, checking all the patients on that floor.

The nurse was injured by the attacker when she came in and found him standing over the mystery woman's head with a pillow, the nurse screamed and the attacker shot her in the shoulder, running away.

Her scream got the security officer's attention but by the time they got there, the attacker dressed like a doctor has disappeared.

Eric Crown rushed to the hospital immediately, on getting to her room there was blood by the door and close to the bed. He noticed she was been moved..

What's going on Eric asked, how did this happen?

We're moving her to another room now, and we don't know yet how he got in here Dr. Robert answered still shaken

Eric turned to Andrew, get some security men to guide her room. No one gets in unless they are on the authorized list he instructed.

Let's go to my office Mr.Crown, Dr. Robert said after she was moved to another VIP room in the hospital.

As soon as we got inside Eric asked again how did this happen? This is a very secured floor for VIP patients, how can someone just come in here like that ?

Dr. Robert as the medical director of the hospital, knows everything that goes on there, he was also puzzled.

I'm very surprised sir, our security personnel are doing everything possible to find out how the attacker got in here. At least the nurse told us the attacker was dressed as a doctor.

Did she see his face ? Eric asked

No, she said he was backing her. she was alarmed when she opened the room door, saw someone dressed as hospital doctor but was standing over the patient pressing a pillow over her head, that's when she screamed. Everything happened so fast, the next thing she knew she was shot, and pushed aside from the door.

Investigate this Eric instructed Dr. Robert and walked out of his office.

Since the attack the hospital has increased security and Eric also placed some of his security men there.

Eric had another meeting with Dr. Robert as they were still looking for answers.

There was a knock on the door, and Andrew walked in with a man who Dr. Robert introduced as the chief security officer of the hospital.

Sir, we just finished looking at the CCTV camera footage , the attacker defiantly knew where all the cameras are, so we couldn't get a good look at his face Andrew said.

That means this was well planned, the attacker knew the hospital well and had information on which room to go Dr. Robert concluded.

That's means someone knows she is here Eric added, this is getting interesting he thought. Who is she?

No wonder we have not been able to get any information about her, someone is making sure we don't Andrew added.

But how did the attacker get in? He must have a hospital identification card Eric said

What kind of security do you have here Dr. Robert Eric asked sternly, how can an intruder just come and go like that? This is unacceptable, someone must have seen something or know something.

Dr. Robert made a call, when he was through he turned and told them that one of the doctors attending to our mystery woman didn't report for his shift earlier on today.

About an hour after the attack the doctor was found in his apartment drugged. He apparently went for a ran that morning, and stopped at his favourite smoothie shop to get a smoothie. It was obviously laced with a drug that knocked him out, he is being carried to the hospital now for treatment Dr.Robert reported.

Eric started really wondering who the mystery woman is, why will anyone go to this length to kill her.

This was an assassination attempt Sir, Andrew said disbelievingly.

Sir, we have to start thinking about you. If they know she is here, then they know who brought here, I think he started to suggest....

Eric lifted hix hand to stop Andrew from finishing his sentence. He quickly sent a message to Bolt ask8ng if he had any information yet.

As Eric was on his phone, he noticed Andrew has sent him the video clip of how the attacker entered the hospital. Eric sent the video to Bolt, he might be able to get some thing from it.

Something else struck Eric, there must be someone giving information out. If the doctor was drugged and his identification card stolen, who gave them information on her room number, who the doctor treating her was?

Dr. Robert, someone is giving information out Eric stated. One of your staff is working with the people who wants to kill her, we have to find out who that person is.

Eric turned to Andrew, go and find out now he instructed. He left with the Chief security officer.

Eric was feeling uncomfortable, as if there was something he was missing. He quickly headed for the door and Dr. Robert followed him, Mr. Crown is there a problem?

I'm going to her room Eric answered quickly

Dr. Robert led the way. In front of the door to the mystery woman's room there were 3 guards all armed. Eric stepped inside still not able to shake the feeling that something was not right.

Eric checked every corner, wardrobe, bathroom. Mr. Crown it's okay Dr. Robert said behind me.

Eric turned to look at the mystery woman, she just laid there looking like an angel in the white hospital gown. she looked a bit pale and her nose area looked red, I'm sure from the pressure of the pillow used by the attacked on her face.

The wound on her face, neck and hand were starting to disappear, it was only her leg that was still a major physical issue.

With Eric's attention still on her, he asked Dr. Robert, so no changes at all in her condition?

No Mr. Crown, all the specialists are saying the same thing, that her brain is functioning at its lowest stage of alertness.

Can she feel pain?

No, people in a coma are completely unresponsive. They do not move, do not react to light or sound and cannot feel pain. You can see her eyes are closed. The brain responds to extreme trauma by effectively 'shutting down'. We suspect she has suffered some sort of trauma even before the accident.

Eric just stood there, digesting all the information. He suddenly remembered the baby. What about the child he asked?

She is fine Dr.Robert smiled, she is growing big everyday.

I want to see her Eric said heading for the door, something doesn't add up he thought.

Dr. Robert looked at him, surprised at the sudden request because Eric had seen the baby today already.

They made their way to the hospital nursery where they have the babies, she has been moved from the premature baby ward.

Suddenly, the fire alarm went off. Eric turned back and instructed the guards, no one goes in not even a doctors.

Eric ran toward the nursery, he had a funny feeling something was off earlier this got could be it.

Where was the fire ? what is going on? Eric asked Dr. Robert because he was talking on the phone as they were rushing to the nursery trying to find out what was going on and giving out instructions.

Then they heard the sound of gun shots.
