The Attack 2...

Walking towards the new born nursery ward, Eric Crown and Dr. Robert heard the sound of gun shots coming from where they were headed to....the baby nursery.

They both stood still for some seconds in shock. Suddenly people started screaming, running and there was panic everywhere.

Eric has never ran the way he did now in his whole life because the gun shots came from the nursery area.

Oh my baby, nothing must happen to her he thought. All those babies in the nursery, this people are bold and reckless.

When Eric and Dr. Robert got to the nursery, the babies were screaming and crying, some nurses were trying to comfort them. There were about 3 security officers restraining a man, who was struggling with them and on a closer look he was shot on the shoulder. There was blood on the white doctor's coverall that he wore.

What happened here Dr. Robert asked breathing heavily.

He tried to kill the baby; he wanted to inject her with that the Chief security officer said pointing at the syringe on the floor.

Oh my, they want to kill the baby too? Whoever they are mean business Eric thought.

Dr. Robert moved toward the attacker, who sent you he asked him.

The attacker just stared at him not saying a word.

Eric wondered, how did the attacker get in here? He was also wearing a Doctor's coverall and had an ID by the pocket of the doctor's coat.

Some more police officers came and started taking statements, a detective picked up the syringe and put it in an evidence bag.

Some doctors and nurses were taking care of the babies, checking if any was injured but my eyes never left my baby. The way she was screaming you will know she has being frightened, she was throwing her legs and hands everywhere.

Eric just couldn't bear to look, I must protect her. This was a close call, she almost got killed today.

The attacker was dragged out. Andrew rushed in, boss are you okay?

I'm fine Eric answered walking toward the baby to keep his eyes on her.

The nursery was cleared out, the babies were being comforted, some went back to sleep and others were being fed. I turned to look for Doctor Robert.

When He found him, Eric asked: Are you sure everyone here is your staff? Dr. Robert looked around and said yes sir.

Mr. Crown so sorry this is happening. Something like this has never happened in our hospital before, you know he said shaking his head. I'm shocked myself, our security is top notch I cannot believe they break in here not once but twice

He knows he has to improve on security after this, if not he will be sacked. This is the best private hospital in this city and in the Country, and its owned by the Crown family.

This is where all the influential and wealthy families come for medical treatment. So if the attacker and his accomplice are able break in here, they must be very formidable.

We also have to consider that this is not good for the hospital reputation. The wealthy families that come here, do so because apart from getting the best treatment they feel safe Eric mentioned.

Security is paramount in an hospital like this, I have to have a meeting with Dr. Robert and the other heads of department. This must never happen again, two attacks in one day.

Eric took his phone and made some calls, this has to be investigated. He called the commissioner of Police, who was surprised Eric was there and said he will look into the matter immediately.

Eric moved away to call his friend in the special intelligence forces. I need information on this matter, there is no way someone has not heard something.

Eric asked Andrew to get one of his bodyguards to follow the police officers who took the attacker away, instructing him to try and interrogate attacker alone before he is taken to the police station. The police is doing their thing but he wants to also investigate on his side.

Andrew... also find out what substance is in that syringe.

Since we don't know the people we are dealing with yet, we have to be very careful. Eric turned and noticed his baby was still crying, he moved toward the nurse trying to soothe her and told her to give her to him.

Eric carried the baby and started rubbing her back, talking softly to her.

For the past one month he has visited her almost every day, so they have kind of formed a bond.

Probably about 10 minutes later she stopped crying and slept off. Eric looked up and noticed everybody staring at him, What ? He asked them

Eric was sure they were surprised that he could sooth the baby when the nurse couldn't.

One of the things he has learnt in this past one month about babies is that they like familiarity, when they are used to you they get comfortable.

Boss...that was awesome. Andrew said in surprise, the baby has slept. How did you do that ?

Honestly, I don't know. Eric turned away from him, still carrying the baby in his arms, he looked at her beautiful face. She made a little anguish sound as if she wanted to start crying again.

Eric glared at Andrew, he just quietly moved away from him.

Looking at her, Eric's heart ached. Her little eyes was swollen, her nose red and she was hiccupping as she slept. She looked so cute, why will someone want to kill a baby?

Some people have burnt their conscience, they have no limit.

After about 30 minutes, Eric dropped the baby gently in her cot, and moved toward Dr. Robert.

Mr. Crown, let's go to my office you must be tire, Dr. Robert said walking towards the door.

Eric just stood there, reluctant to leave.

Sir... Andrew called out

I'm not going anywhere, I want to keep an eyes on her Eric said.

He walked back to where she was sleeping, looking at her and her swollen cute face, Eric suddenly knew what he had to do.

Pack her things Eric told the nurse, I'm taking Sunshine home with me.

You need to see the expression on Andrew and Dr. Robert's face, it was priceless!

Sunshine? Andrew repeated after me

Yes, Sunshine ....and she is going home with me.

Andrew and Dr. Robert were in shock, let's just say I shocked myself too.
