Her Brain Condition.
After the phone call with Bolt, Eric was excited. He didn't have to call her mystery woman or Sunshine"s mother any more. Her name is Katie, lovely name he thought.
Katie, Eric said her name out loud. Wondering when she will wake up so he could talk to her. Eric suddenly remembered he wanted to call Dr. Robert before Bolt called him. He needed to know the results from the brain scans that was done on Katie two days ago. Eric picked up his phone and made the call.
Mr. Crown, I was expecting your call. The results are out, the brain specialist you flew in from the US has concluded his diagnosis.
So what is the conclusion or should I ask how are the results first ?
You know we have earlier checked her movements, reflexes, response to painful stimuli, and pupil size to try to determine the cause of the coma, Dr Robert explained . So now we did some Imaging tests to help us pinpoint areas in her brain that might have been effected when the accident occurred.
Dr Robert paused so Eric asked him to go now, he wanted to know all the details. My heart ached for her, she has gone through a lot already, and now all this probing, needles and instruments.
We ran several test on her including a Computerized tomography also called a CT scan to create a detailed image of the brain. Also an Electroencephalographywas, best know as EEG was carried out to measure the electrical activity inside her brain.
What are all this test for Eric asked very concerned
They're to diagnose and determine the causes of the coma.To show if her brain has hemorrhage, tumors, strokes and other conditions.
So what are the results Eric asked impatiently...
The EEG results shows there is some brain activity which led us to useful diagnosis concerning her brain conditions, just that we also found some swelling in her brain.
When the brain swells as a result of trauma he continued, the fluid pushes up against the skull and this damages the Reticular Activating System, a part of the brain that's responsible for arousal and awareness.
Awareness? Wait ...what are you saying Eric asked.That she will not regain consciousness?
No..no no that not what I am saying. We are administering medications as we speak to relieve the pressure on the brain caused by the swelling Dr Robert explained quickly.
No need for panic Mr. Crown; overall research has been able to accurately predict 94 percent of patients would wake up from a vegetative state. So we should just be positive and hope for the best he continued.
Eric didn't know what to say. He just wished Dr. Robert a good night and ended the call. He felt Dr Robert was just trying to make him feel better, doctors do that.
Eric didn't....didn't like situations where he was so helpless. He sighed feeling frustrated.
He cannot do anything for her. Eric hoped she has enough will to want to live.
He looked out the floor to ceiling window in his office, not seeing the beautiful scenery. The view is fabulous that's why this window was carved out in the first place but right now the scenery is the last thing on his mind.
Eric Crown stood there wondering if she will ever wake up. Oh Eric don't go down that road he cautioned himself.
Andrew his assistant came in to remind him that it was time to go home, he told him to pack the remaining documents on his table.
I have to finish signing some of the documents, reviewing some before I get on that flight first thing tomorrow morning so I just might do an all night.
Andrew was not happy about this but that's the job, he thought he would get a good n8ght sleep bofors the trip.
As he was packing the files, he asked Eric do you need me for the all-night work?
Yes we working together Eric told him smiling.
Andrew's face changed but he just looked away probably calling him names in his mind Eric thought laughing.
Eric ate dinner and they worked almost all through the night. He sent Andrew to his room at about 4am to pack and get ready for our flight out. Hopefully we will catch some sleep on the flight.
Eric was looking forward to seeing Katie and Sunshine. Before he started working he looked through the CCTV camera app on his laptop.
He smiled ito himself knowing his mother will be shocked when she finds out that he had installed a camera in the nursery so he could see Sunshine when she is there. Apart from keeping an eye on her, It helped him miss her less.
When Eric checked on Sunshine some one hour ago she was sleeping but she just woke up crying now and since his laptop speakers were on, her crying was heard all over his suite and he could see Andrew's surprised face.
Eric was working on his laptop at the same time checking on Sunshine. The window of footage was minimised so thtat he could do both
Sir? Andrew questioned looking like he didn't believe it, that Eric was watching Sunshine. He knows how seriously his boss takes his work. Eric did't like getting distracted when working but Sunshine is changing his perception.
What? Eric asked daring Andrew to say a word ...is there a problem?
Nothing, he relied heading for his room.
Eric brought the video up, and noticed the nanny has picked Sunshine up. I'm sure she was hungry it was time for her second night bottle.
The Nunney sat down with Sunshine and started feeding her. Eric just looked on wishing he was the one doing that now, She is an angle ...very irresistible.
Okay Eric it's time to go home, he has never wished to go home this bad. HeI couldn't wait to see Sunshine.
Eric just hoped she doesn't miss her mum that much and that they're giving her all the love she needs. Of course, we cannot replace her mother but than we are all doing our best especially with the uncertain condition her mother was in.
It"s so heartbreaking that a baby will have to go through her first few months without her mother, they have not even met.
What a sad situation!
