Magic Crystal Core

"What the hell is that?" Aiden couldn't help but ask after listening to Chelsea.

"You have no idea?" Chelsea asked as she looked at Aiden with a weird look on her face.

"I have no idea," Aiden said, laughing awkwardly.

"Sigh, The magic core is just like the energy core; that is, they all provide energy that can be used by humans."

"However, there is a massive difference between a magic core and a energy core both in terms of quality of the power they produce and the effect they have on the environment," Chelsea.

"Oh?" Aiden muttered in astonishment. He couldn't believe that there would be such a huge difference between the the two.

From his memories, he remembered that energy cores were very strong. In fact, there was even single energy cores that could power a city for dozens of years. This was also one of the main reasons why they were so popular in his previous world. Yet, just as the saying went, ' All that glitters is not gold ', even powerful things such as the energy core had severe side effects.

For the energy core, it's most dangerous effect was it's effect on the environment. A single use of an energy core could potentially destroy an entire planet by ripping apart the magnetic field of the said planet.

Due to this, energy cores had to go through a lot of processing before they couldn't be used. Even so, the energy core still caused minor damages like causing cancer through intense radiation and other diseases.

However, from Chelsea's word, Aiden figured out that the magic crystal was much better than the energy crystals that he knew of.

"Not only do magic crystals produce more energy than energy crystal, they are also environmentally efficient," ignoring the rumblings of Aiden, Chelsea said.

"Oh, I see," said Aiden, "Yet, I still don't understand why you would use magic crystal as the core for a library if it was so remarkable. I mean, it's a waste of resources. Also, what if someone try to steal it?"

"Hmm, that is true. However, we used the magic core so that we could get two new important features!" said Chelsea, "And as for someone stealing it, it's impossible."

Hearing Chelsea's words Aiden couldn't help but be a little shocked. From the voice of Chelsea, he understood that she was very confident in her own words. Where did that confidence come from?

"Anyways, you were talking about the two features. What are they?" Aiden couldn't help but ask. After all, two features that had to be powered by a magic crystal must be unique and great.

"Oh, yeah. The two features are the search feature and the mana training feature," said Chelsea.

"Search feature?" Aiden nearly fainted on the spot when he heard the feature Chelsea mentioned.

The search feature of the library was a feature that he had heard of before. As a frequent visitor to the library, the search feature was the most important feature any library could have.

The library search feature gave the users the ability to scan through the information in the library in one swift motion.

Moreover, the information retrieved by search feature is always correct and precise. In fact, the search feature was one of the main reasons why libraries still existed today.

With this, Aiden knew that his job was going to be much much more easier.

"Can I use the search feature?" Aiden asked maintaining his composure even though his heart was beating excitedly.

"Oh, yeah. it is in the Assembly room," said Chelsea, pointing a direction with her finger.

"Oh, I see... I am going to check it out!" Aiden said as he rushed towards the direction Chelsea pointed.

Looking at Aiden's disappearing back, Chelsea smiled whilst muttering something under her breath.

*******

Oblivious to Chelsea's change in behaviour, Aiden proceeded to Assembly room where the search feature was supposed to be.

The Assembly room was one of the few places in the entire library that held great importance. The Assembly room was where students came together to create ideas whenever, they were given work to do. In other words, it was the gathering place of students in the library.

At first, Aiden didn't understand why the search feature was moved here. However, after contemplating for a while, he came to understand the reason.

Since the main visitors of the library were students, it made sense they would place the search feature at the place where students were most likely to group and communicate.

Not only would this plan help the students to generate new ideas faster, it would also give the students access to clean, precise and valuable information. Aiden couldn't help but praise the insight of the people who came up with this idea.

*******

As Aiden proceeded to walk towards the Assembly room, he suddenly felt something pull him in.

"What just happened?"

Aiden immediately stopped walking as he stared at the path ahead with a look of disbelief. Just a second ago, he suddenly felt something pull him in. It was as if something was calling him up ahead.

What made it more horrifying was the fact that Aiden felt an irresistible urge to walk towards it.

Aiden found this particularly weird. Yet, after standing there for a while, Aiden proceeded.

As he continued to walk towards the Assembly room, he regularly felt the surge of power.

At first, Aiden didn't know where the power surge originated from however, he now confirmed that the power surge was from the Assembly room.

The reason for his hypothesis was due to the fact that the nearer he got to the Assembly room, the stronger the power surge became.

Soon enough, Aiden reached the Assembly room.

"What the?"

Aiden couldn't but shout out in shock.

The moment he entered the room, he felt a wave of peace and calm wash over him. It was as if he had just entered heaven itself.

In fact, Aiden could have swore that this was the first time that he felt so refreshed in his life.

"What the hell is that?" Aiden mumbled, staring at object at the center of the room in astonishment. He had seen a lot of thin life but this was the first time he had seen something so powerful.

"Could this be the magic crystal core?" Aiden muttered under his breath as he looked at the object in the middle of the room.

In the middle of the room was what seemed like a huge blob of floating water. Even so, Aiden dared not to underestimate the object in front of him. The moment he entered the room, he was able to quickly realise that the huge orb wasn't what it seemed like it was.

The reason why he thought so was because the strange force that was pulling him in was from the strange orb in the middle of the room.

"It is the magic core!"

"Ah!"

A voice suddenly echoed behind Aiden, scaring him witless. Turning to the source of the voice and realizing that it was Chelsea, Aiden couldn't help but let out a breath before asking,

"Are you sure this is the magic core?"

Hearing the question Aiden was asking, Chelsea turned to look at him with a grim look.

'How am I supposed to understand everything that went on here? He just arrived in this world!'

Clearly sensing the other's gaze, Aiden couldn't help but clear his voice whilst explaining,

"I mean, is this the magic crystal? Like the real one?"

Hearing Aiden rephrase his question, Chelsea sighed before replying, "Of course it is the real one. The Magic crystal have the ability to pull the surrounding mana towards it hence making it a great source of energy. If I am not wrong, you must have already felt it!"

Realization suddenly dawned on Aiden. So the energy he just felt was from the magic crystal.

"Oh, I see. But Aren't you afraid that people would steal it?" Aiden asked after pondering for a while.

"Steal? Haha, to think that you could come up with such silly assumption. Steal? have you forgotten where this place is? Moreover , if someone was even to attack, I would protect the library."

"Also, since the magic crystal can gather the mana around, we can use that as a defensive measure. In that way, we can use it endlessly without shortage of power. "

Aiden nodded his head. What Chelsea said was absolutely true, however, Aiden felt confused with one thing. Why did he feel the power surge towards him to pull him in instead of the mana around? Remembering this Aiden turned to Chelsea who was still looking at him with a slight smile on her face probably happy that she was able to answer his questions.

"Why did the magic crystal pull me in instead of the mana around then?" Aiden asked.

However, the moment he asked the question, Chelsea's expression turned bizarre as she turned towards him.

'Oh Crap! Have I said something I shouldn't have?"
