The Last Demon Slayer

A loud banging sound could be heard from the trunk of an old car that was parked inside an abandoned warehouse. The inhumane rocking of the car was accompanied by a muffled scream. "Shhh... Be quiet..." One said as she slowly opened the trunk and pulled the poor lady out from it. The two suspicious characters that were wearing clown masks tied the poor lady in the middle of the floor where a big pentagram was scribbled. "MSHGGSKKSSSSH!!!!" The poor lady made a desperate attempt to scream but it was to no avail. One of her assailants had the heart to remove her gag but the first thing that she asked as soon as it was removed was, "Is this a prank??? I know it was you, Cassie. That shirt is mine." As soon as she heard her name, Cassie removed her mask. "Ana, don't panic. We will just exorcise you, okay? Calm down. After all of this is done, we could just all pretend that none of this ever happened in the first place." "What?!!!!!! You're crazy, Cassie!" "NO! Look, you tried to strangle me with a belt last night. But don't worry because I don't blame you for that. You were possessed and right now we will exorcise that demon out from your body." "No-----mmmpphhhh" Before the lady named Ana could even speak another word of protest, Cassie already gagged her again with that same piece of cloth that they used before. "So what are we gonna do next?" "You have to pee on her?" "No way! I would never pee on my best friend! Jared, that's insane!" "Then let us just all forget about this whole exorcism thing then because it was clearly written here. Instruction No.1. You have to mark the subject with your own scent." There you are

Contrary to her initial belief, these scary faces and uncanny encounters were not just a figment of her imagination but instead a real deal.

Meanwhile, even after she discovered the presence of the unwelcome entity, Cassie still did her best to pretend like she did not see a thing.

But at the back of her mind, she could not stop herself from wondering why Jared did not seem to notice its presence and it beat her to think that it was only her who could see it.

In spite of the fact that she became a bundle of nerves the instant she discovered its presence, Cassie was still determined at trying her utmost to calm herself.

Yet out of nowhere, it was as if an invisible hand forced her head to look in the direction where the strange man was standing. The next thing she knew, she was already staring back at the other party.

To her surprise, the first thing that greeted her eyes was a man who neither have his nose nor a working mouth with him. His lips were sealed shut as if they were sewed to stay together and his eyes were closed as well.

But it did not take that long before the man finally opened his eyes and when he did, it scared the leaving daylight out of Cassie. The man was missing his eyes and in its place was nothing but void.

As a result, her brain stopped working right that instant due to fright. Likewise, within that same moment, she started having this feeling inside her as though her strength was slowly seeping out of her physical body and that she felt like she was being pulled towards a black hole.

The sockets that used to hold the man's eyes were empty but nonetheless, he could still make Cassie feel like he was not only staring at her but looking at her dead in the eye as well.

Even though it was missing the normal eye, it still remained watchful which made Cassie believe that it could really see her.

Cassie's eyes grew wide when she almost locked eye contact with the emaciated monster.

Its nonexistent yet watchful eyes could almost pierce right through her skin. She tried to avert her gaze but to no avail.

There was this weird sensation in her person that was trying to restrict her movement.

Her body went stiff for some reason; so stiff that she could hardly lift a muscle from her finger, let alone call Jared's attention.

She was stuck until the man slowly break into a sinister smile.

"There you are."

There was no way that the monstrosity before her could move its lips. However, Cassie could still tell for certain that he was the owner of the voice.

His voice was not particularly loud, but it resounded clearly in her ear. It felt like even if one were to cover one's ear, the voice would still resonate within one's mind, preventing one from shutting it off altogether.

Not long after that, the man disappeared out of thin air like it was never there before. It was also only when the man vanished from sight did the invisible force around Cassie started to wear down.

If only this happened in the past, Cassie would not pay heed to it. However, considering that she was currently dealing with a demon that was at loose, unlike before, she could no longer make herself believe that it was just her eyes playing tricks on her.

It was clear for all eyes to see that the girl was petrified by what she just saw and it did not take that long before she started shaking like a leaf.

At this point, Cassie resembled a scared cat that when Jared turned his head in her direction and saw the look on her face, the other party got worried and alarmed at the same time.

It might look like a couple of minutes had already passed since the time Cassie first noticed the man. But in reality, everything happened within just a few seconds.

Jared, on the other hand, hurriedly followed Cassie's gaze. He whipped his head to look behind his shoulder because he wanted to check if the girl happened to see something weird without his knowledge.

Albeit Jared was acting nonchalant, in actuality, he never let his guard down. He made sure to pay attention to their surrounding from the beginning of their conversation and even until that moment.

However, he did not notice anything peculiar. That was why he could not help but wonder what was the source of Cassie's agitation.

It could not be considered complacency if Jared would go and claim that his observational skill was unparalleled because he was only stating facts.

Jared was confident that if he wanted to and decided to set his mind to do it, his heightened senses could allow him to pick up even the slightest detail from a mile away.

But even after his careful observation, Jared still failed to detect unusual activity around them. That was why after confirming that there was nothing there and that there was little to zero chance that they come across any weird presence, confusion clouded his feature.

"Can't we just leave?"

Meanwhile, as soon as the girl finally got her voice back, Cassie expressed her desire to leave right away.

However, instead of addressing her question, Jared only answered her with another question of his.

"Right now?"

He asked her back and Cassie replied forcefully,

"As in, right now!"

She abruptly rose to her feet and almost knocked her chair off.

"I don't want to stay in this place any longer."

She added so Jared could only relent.

"Alright, there is no need for you to be mad at me. I get it, okay?"

He insinuated before he also stood up and with both of his hands hidden inside each of the side pockets of his pants, he lead the way.
