Father's Story.

"Amara, the Gremory clan is one of the remaining clans of the 72 Pillars. We are a Duke-level clan in the Underworld. You get that."

Souji looked at Amara who seemed to pause at his words. Surtr words of her being special seemed to not be far from the mark as he could see the gears turning in her head. She then nodded as if she got it which she did.

'Underworld? So we are in Hell. I expected I was some kind of Demon which seemed to not be far from the mark.'

"Well, the Gremory is one of the last great clans along with Sitri and Phenex clans. We are close to the Sitri who are close allies. As for the Phenex clan, we are not enemies, but not allies. There are more clans, of course, like the Bael clan. The one your grandmother came from.

They rank as Great King and are the highest ranking of the 72 clans. Of course, they are also the opposing faction of the Satan Faction known as the Great King faction."

He paused to look at Amara who was walking by his side with that pondering look.

'She does look adorable.'

Just as he was going to keep going he heard something shocking.

"Meh."

He stared at Amara who had finally made a peep. It was not really a word, but it sounded so much like the word meh.

"Did you just say Meh?"

She just walked by him without a care in the world. He followed as he tried to get her to do it again, but no luck. She was messing with him as this word could pass for just a baby sound. However, Souji could swear it was the word and not just a random sound.

"Come on, say it once more."

However, no matter how much he tried she ignored him and ran off to look at a painting or statue. He spent the whole day touring her and when they asked who she was he said she was his as he was told. Most believed him, but he was sure that a few did not.

It did not matter to him as long as anyone who was not trusted did not find out. After a few hours, he saw that she stoped in front of a dog. It was found by Sirzechs on a trip to the Human World which he took. It was a German Shepard that was barely 3 years old.

He saw how Amara was rubbing it's chin while the whole closed his eyes to enjoy.

'Hey, Abyss King. How about taking a dog-like form? It would be more convenient than a mass of swarming mouths, tentacles, and weird shapes.'

The Abyss King looked it over as an appraiser. It grunted in her mind which she got.

'It needs some work? It needs more teeth, more claws, and more eyes. Sure we can work that out.'

Souji kneeled behind her as she played with the dog.

"Do you like the dog?"

She did not respond as he was just looking for a reaction. Seeing how he got none he gave up. Just then he heard that sound again.

"Meh."

His head snapped to Amara who was already walking away.

"I heard that. I definitely heard that."

He ran up to her at God Speed and appeared in front of her in an instant. She blinked a few times as she did not expect this guy to be so fast. It was as fast as some of the best assassins in her old world. She acted innocent and merely looked up at him with shining eyes.

When he saw that he sighed as it seemed that he was just overthinking.

"You interested in what I just did?"

She nodded a little. Souji kneeled down and explained a bit.

"I am the strongest Knight of the Underworld. My speed is unrivaled, I call it God Speed. If you get a little older I will teach you it."

She hugged Souji who was honestly not expecting that. He smiled as he picked her up.

'Guess I was just imagining it.'

Just as he looked away she did it again. This was fun.

"Meh."

He looked at her who had a mischievous smile. When was the last time she had ever just had some fun like this? When not in battle she was just training, meditating, and standing around. She had no need for sleep in the past because her body had transcended mortality.

She was mortal for now, but she planned to build up her power to its peak and surpass it. Now she had a friend who she respected. She honestly had no hatred for the beings of the Abyss, they did as they needed to do.

She simply did what she needed to do, simple as that. But in that one-year battle, she had enjoyed every moment of it. The dying part was not fun, but it did not matter. She was alive and mostly free.

"Young miss I am going to break my neck if you keep doing that."

He walked back to her room and placed her down in her crib. He knew she could jump out so he just walked out. When he was gone, Amara laughed a little. The Abyss King was confused. Why was this amusing? It let her know that it did not understand this emotion.

What was amusement? Amara paused as she thought about that question.

'Amusement. A word to show when one enjoys something. Like our fight. That was an amusing battle, not the ending though.'

The King thought about it as that fight had been the first it had struggled with. Something amusing? Then killing people was amusing. Breaking their minds. Flaying their souls. That always brought it something close to amusement. When Amara was asked this she just shrugged.

She was not one to judge her new friend. Its mind was alien and any person other than herself would have gone mad from hearing it speak.

'Sure, if you find that amusing that that is amusing for you. I guess I just found teasing him a little fun. I remember at the castle the crown prince would always do that to me. It, is a fond memory.'

She closed her eyes as she thought of the little prince. He was a mixed human and elf which was rare, but the Abyss caused the races to me more united. More interspecies marriages were a thing and grudges were dissolved out of need.

'Hey, without you, what will happen to the Abyss?'

The answer she got, was unexpected but welcomed one.

'The Abyss-born creatures will fight until one becomes the new Abyss King? Then start the cycle over? Then, you are not the first Abyss King?'

The answer was a resounding no. The Abyss had existed since the beginning of time and from time to time Abyss Kings rose and fell with the ages. Of course, at the price of millions of worlds, millions more would pop up. It was an unending cycle so Amara just ended the current Age.

The next Abyss King might be even worse which made her giddy.

'How long will this take?'

The news was not fun. Her smile died as if it never existed.

'At the fastest a million years? At the fastest half that time.'

Worse was that for an Abyss King to be as strong as the one currently with her, they needed to consume countless worlds. A new born Abyss King would barely be a thousand of the ones she fought. She sighed as she lay down in her crib.

'Oh well.'

She was careful with speaking as she did not if she was being monitored. She was right outside the door Souji had his ear to the door waiting for words. She just fell sleep as she had already done her Mana Refinement and her heart needed another three days to stabilize.

Instead, she just slept. Now that she could listen attentively, her mother began to tutor her personally. She taught her how to be a well-mannered girl which she ignored. How to dance which she also ignored. She paid attention to history, customs, and the like which gave her mother a headache.

Amara was not fussy with clothes, but she seemed to prefer clothes of the color black. It had been a full year since her rebirth and she was currently sitting in a chair on her new father's lap. He was waving his hands in the air as he used the Energy of Destruction to form a story.

"Long ago, before you were born your dad fought some bad people. We were suffering from a Great War and they wanted to keep going. However, your dad and his three friends stood up for peace."

Amara looked at those images which showed Devils, Angels and Fallen Angels locked in a war. Then it turned into Devils on Devils and through her mother's lessons, she got the gist of it.

'The Great War left these Devils in shambles, but the old Satans wanted to keep going. The New Satans did not, as they were becoming extinct. Makes sense.'

The Abyss King reminded her of something important.

'Yes, it is similar to my Desolation Magic. If only an inferior variant.'

Over the past year, those around her thought that at times it looked like she receded into her mind. It was kind of weird as she just sat there as if talking with herself.

"Are you curious about this?"

He showed his hand full of Energy of Destruction. She gave a simple nod.

"This is the Bael family bloodline ability. The energy of Destruction. Your grandmother is from the Bael clan so she passed this on to me. As for you, you are too little to know yet."

She merely raised her hand as she had long since felt the presence of Energy of Destruction. She had been hard at work Magic Refining her body so she was perfectly clear on her own body. Plus the progress of her Blood Essence was in progress.

It was still slow as a snail, but now the black lines were now 3 inches in length in all directions. The benefits at this time were barely noticeable. A stronger, body and more pure magic. This Demonic Power that Devils had was simply inferior in her opinion to something like higher ranks of mana.

When he saw that red energy in her hand he nearly jumped out of his seat.

"How?"

She shrugged and that was all. He sighed as in this whole year the number of times she had made a sound was few. Souji had often heard her say Meh, but that was it. The rest of the time she was dead silent. Her face showed emotion, but no sounds.

He once believed she was mute and had been born with no voice, but that was far from true. He got up and called Grayfia through the magic that Amara had used Energy of Destruction. She rushed over when she heard that as using magic at this age was not common.

When she arrived she looked at her daughter in her father's arms. Now came the amusement from acting as if nothing had happened.

"Did she really use it?"

Sirzechs nodded.

"Yes, come on. Show mama your new magic."

Amara looked at her mom with a smile but did nothing. They tried to goad her to use it, even showed them their own magic, but nothing. Grayfia sighed as she understood how teasing her daughter was.

She loved messing with people and did something shocking only to act as if it had been nothing, but a fluke.

"We won't be seeing anything out of her. She used Energy of Destruction?"

Sirzechs nodded.

"She covered her hand in it when I was telling her the story of the Great War."

Grayfia looked at Amara who acted as if nothing had happened.

"I see. It seems we will need to watch her closely."

Hearing that made her not happy. She knew she was playing, but she did not want to be monitored more. She raised her hand and had a small bit of Energy of Destruction coat her hand. Seeing that made Grayfia smirk.

"Can't hide it now can you?"

Seeing that made Sirzechs and Grayfia both happy. As long as she learned how to harness it properly she would easily rise in power. She would be able to choose her own fate and not have to fall tot he politics of those old bastards. Knowing them, if they could not kill her or control her they would want to marry her to someone from their faction.

They had to avoid that so it meant making sure she was strong enough by the time she was of age to choose for herself. They had no idea that she had already been doing just that for the past year and had done great progress.

However, they felt they had to start very light for her young age. Either way, Amara was not going to let others decide. For that to happen she needed power. Power rivaling that of her previous peak and more. She was ready for the challenge.
