Chapter 26

"What did I miss?" Thoron walks out into the snow, "Walking up the mountain knocked me out!"

"A whole fight!" I tell him out of breath, "Don't worry I won. You could sleep through the whole war if you wanted to!"

"I try not to," He smoothes out his hair, "but we did walk quite a ways and that made me tired."

"Only you." I sigh, "By the way have you seen Myriani? I thought she'd be back by now."

"Speak of the devil." Thoron turns back to the cave, "She's back and doesn't look good at all."

I look back at the cave and see Myriani looking ragged and tired. She hasn't gotten any sleep since we got here. She must be tired. I run over to the cave and catch her before she hits the ground.

"Myriani are you alright?" I ask looking for any wounds.

"I'll be fine." She says whispering, "I got you something for your birthday."

"How did you know?" I say surprised, "I only told Thoron about my birthday."

"You guys talk pretty loud you know that." She laughs, "Here I found this bracelet for you. I found it laying on the ground. It looks pretty and I think you should wear it."

"Thanks!" I say grabbing it off the ground, "So did you find anything back there?"

"I found the other side of the cave." She says getting some water, "I found those 'refugees' that you two spoke of."

"Did they see you?" I ask, "Do we need to leave?"

"I don't want to speak about what happened while Thoron is listening." She says embarrassed, "When we're alone sometime, I'll tell you."

I give her a long look before turning to Thoron, "Help me put the bracelet on?" I ask him.

"Sure," He says stretching, "I don't have anything else to do like sleep until morning comes or anything like that!"

I shoot him a glare and hand him the bracelet. He puts it around my wrist. I don't know what's wrong with Thoron, but I don't want to be around him right now. I just killed my childhood teacher. I walk over to where Myriani is sitting and sit next to her.

"We're getting out of here once my energy comes back." She says resting her head on my shoulder, "You and I can go and get the Moonlit Flowers while Thoron gets all the bags. I'll tell you what happened you know girl to girl."

"Alright." I say worn out, "I'm going to take a nap. Wake me up when you're ready to go."
