Chapter 18

"What do you mean that's your old teacher?" I turn and face Thoron letting go of his hand.

"You see," Thoron looks away, "I was born and raised in Argostia by Fiore, that man down there. He's the one that raised me. He's the reason how I ever learned magic. He's the reason that my childhood was ruined. After some time under his wing, I surpassed him and left for greater lands and more research. I stumbled upon Icelia and had a gift for strategy so I stayed."

"Did you know at the time that Vizion was a manipulator?" I try to dive deeper into his memories.

"I knew that of course." He looks down at Fiore with worry, "I didn't want to tell you this, but the only thing that can burn the stone in Icelia isn't dragons... it's magic."

Then it hit me. The thing that destroyed my home, forced me to go on the run, forced me to blame dragons for making it so difficult to move on, is down there I just know it. He had to do it. If what Thoron is saying about him being able to control fire, then he is the one that needs to be punished. Without a second glance at Thoron, I jump down onto the forest floor and meet eye to eye with the killer.

"It seems that I've made my way back here once more." Fiore says looking at all the elves, "Myriani I'm sure you remember me don't you?"

"You're the stranger that poisoned my mother. The very poison that killed her." Myriani says clenching her fists, "You will face death for that."

"That's not all." I say marching up next to Myriani, "He's the one who destroyed Icelia. Let him loose, I'll kill him right here right now!"

"You don't stand a chance against me and my magic sword." Fiore smiles, "But it's your deathwish."

"Are you sure you want to do this?" Myriani looks over at me.

"I'm sure." I say holding back the tears, "This man must be punished for all the lives he has taken. I want to make sure that he doesn't harm another living being."

"Cut him loose." Myriani commands her guards, "I don't want any of you to interfere; this is her fight."

Myriani's guard cuts Fiore loose from the net and hands him his weapons. He gets into a ready stance. I unsheathe the ancient golden sword and get ready to face him. I don't care what happens to me, I just want him to feel the pain that I've been through. Fiore murmurs some strange words and touches the center of his sword. It then glows faintly in the shadow of the forest.

"You'll regret the day you crossed me!" I point my sword towards him, "I will never forgive you for what you've done!"

"Then get your vengeance." Fiore smiles coldly, "Waste more time on me while the world slowly descends into chaos."

I dash forward and our blades connect. He's strong, but I'm stronger. The couple weeks I've spent training here has made me stronger and faster. I know that he is no match for me no matter what kinds of magic he uses. Our blades connect faster and stronger than the last strike. The amount of anger I've been holding is being unleashed with each blow. Our next blow, I break his so called magic sword in half. Astonished, he jumps back away from my blade.

"You've gone and made a mistake." Fiore laughs and murmurs more words.

I look at the ground and see the fragments of the blade begin floating. This isn't possible! There's no way he can do that. Each fragment is sharper than the actual blade itself. I look back at him. No wonder he looked so confident. He then sends the fragments flying at me. All I can do is block and hope that they don't cut me up too much. I hold my sword up and block the fragments flying at my face. I feel pain shoot up the rest of my body. Once the fragments stop hitting me, I look around and see that some are still flying around. I turn around and face the fragments once more. They then start to spiral around me. I can't do anything! I'm powerless against this form of attack. I've never seen this before! I slam my sword into the ground to hold me up. The fragments slice me up more.

"No don't get involved." I turn my head and see Myriani holding back Thoron and Eliose, "Let her finish this."

I turn my attention back to Fiore who has a smirk on his face. He thinks he's won. I won't let him win! I take the sword out of the ground and take a step towards him. He may be steps away, but he won't stop me.

"Stop!" Fiore says becoming worried, "Don't come any closer!"

"I'LL MAKE YOU PAY FOR WHAT YOU'VE DONE!" I scream as the fragments slice my face and I swing my sword at Fiore's neck.
