Einar gently led Esme into the bedroom and into an adjoining room with more than a few sofas fit for entertaining, although it was joined to a bedroom. Light filtered through the large windows and patio doors, with the gentle breeze blowing through swaying the sheer curtains that matched the lightness of the room. It was undoubtedly a palace with its rooms suited for a King.
There Esme sat on one of the plush sofas, all the while staring at her hands as though she could still feel her skin burning from the flames. The moment Einar had left her, the village called her to a witch trial. The witch hunters came up with excuses as to why she was a witch, but Esmeralda knew she was not their target. They were trying to lure Einar back, but it didn't matter to them if he did return; they only needed to assert their power over the village and move on. Somehow, they knew Einar was much more than what he appeared.
