4 A Storm is coming part2

Drake look at them and said. "Honestly I know my boss pretty well, he will try to force us to fight. We might not be able to leave with the two of you right away. So Daymon, I will need you to protect Ryan until we can reunite."

" And Ryan don't have any hard feelings for your brother. You not a mage yet and out side the city walls is a death sentence if you can't protect yourself. Even if Daymon with you he might not be able to protect you 100% of the time, you need as much fighting experience as you can get. You probably won't have enough time to form a core before the attack. We will probably only know when people will attack at the last second."

Ryan just had a blank expression, not knowing how to feel about everything. It was alot to take in, should he be upset he will have to leave his friends he made in the city. Should he be scared to go in the wild or worried that his parents might have to fight a bunch of people.

Daymon on the other hand just sat there calm and collected. He didn't even seem that surprised by all that is happening.

Ryan look at his dad and asked. "Is there a chance to win the battle and we stay in the city."

"Nope" without any hesitation his mom replied instead

"The only winning is running away with our life. It's not just one faction after the artifact and the big families might get attracted to the treasure too. Even if we do somehow manage to fight them off. Its not like they will just admit defeat and say now that we failed you can keep it. They will just come with more people and strength."

"What exactly do the artifact do"? Daymon looking at his mom for the answer.

"There no good Reason for you to know the details. Someone might get the wrong idea if they find out you know  more about the treasure than them. I can tell you it is some kind of space element related artifact but that is no secret to anyone that is looking for it. I don't want you to come in contact with that artifact."

There dad jump back in the conversation interrupting saying "You can only take it if you so happened come across it without anyone knowing. It would be stupid not to take a powerful artifact. Who knows, might get lucky" he said while chuckling.

Malisa glared at Drake."Make sure it can't get track back to you, if some how you end up coming across it. Or just leave it there would be better. Alot of people downfall come from greed."

She put alot of emphasis on her last sentence while looking at Drake when saying it.

Drake just start sweating bullets hearing her knowing she didn't like what he just said.

Ryan look at his mom and said. "Wouldn't the faction leader just run away with the artifact if they attack. He not just going to sit there and fight a unwinnable battle will he?

Instead of my mom responding his dad did. "We honestly have no idea what going through his head, we can't comprehend what he trying to achieve. There nothing for him to gain and alot to lose from keeping the artifact. If he was a archmage and found the artifact or even an advanced mage it be a different story. But don't worry to much, Its not so easy to take something from our faction while prepared for it. We still have a little time before they attack.

One of the biggest and obvious obstacles for them is that there is a teleportation formation in the building. They can't just destroyed it and hope that the only one. What kind of person only have one emergency exit. The first thing they have to do is space lock the whole city. Which is not easy but its possible. Lucky for us I know they will do exactly that or at least the main group of attacker will do that.

"Why that" Daymon said

"Your dad friend that he had known for years is one of the spys." His mom said with a awkward smile.

The brothers look at there dad with a weird expression on there face. Daymon couldn't help but to ask. "What if that what the spy want you to think, he may not be loyal."

He laughed it off. "firstly my friend just became a spy couple years ago. He met this girl that work for another faction and she the one that ask him to be a spy. He just like us, we only pick this faction out of convenience. Honestly I would kill the leader of the faction right now if I didn't have to risk people thinking that I took the artifact."

"We only in this mess cause his greed. Which it's okay to be greedy but you can't be greedy and stupid. That just a combination for an early death. Risking all our lifes for no good reason and expect us to stay loyal, fuck that."

"Was there no contract you signed to join the faction to stop you from betraying them" Ryan said while looking confused.

"Yeah but that contract is nothing but old useless papers. This is not like the big families or faction. They don't have the capabilities to make those types of contracts that force you to keep your word or suffer a price."

Mom hop back in the conversation saying "That's enough let's worry about that when the time come. Ryan."

she called his name with a teasing look in her eyes "Why do you look like you got beat up. Noticing the broouse on his face."

She giggle a little. "All you have to do is hit your brother once to win , he can't use his mana like you. You need more combat training and lucky for you i will have alot of free time soon."

Ryan look at his mom with a dumbfounded expression as she staring back with a big smile on her face.

( I knew she up to no good the moment she called my name. She know damn well Daymon still many times stronger than me without his mana, she just want a reason to beat me too I bet.)

ignoring his mom's words and change the conversation. "So when do I get to start going to the magic academy and is there things i should know before I get there? Yall always tell me manaless school is 100x easier and more peaceful than the mage academy. It make me wonder how bad is it really if u have to keep reminding me that."
