INT. STACY APARTMENT - MORNING
PAN across a shelf of ballet trophies and other memorabilia. On the shelf, also, is a photo of two families, the PARKER'S, BEN, MAY and PETER, and the STACY'S, GEORGE and GWEN.
On the RADIO, J JONAH JAMESON reports on the current state of NEW YORK.
JAMESON
Good morning New York! It's a lovely day today, bright and sunny. That's what I would be saying if damn criminals weren't running rampant in the streets! Just two days ago, my office suffered an absolutely disgusting stamp of graffiti! VILLAINS! VANDALS! Now I have to dedicate a large chunk of MY money to have this removed, and what do the police do? NOTHING! The NYPD are absolutely usele-
GEORGE STACY, a tall, muscular, blonde man approaching his 40s(and police captain) turns off the radio, while walking to the dining table with two plates of a lovely bacon filled breakfast.
GEORGE
That's enough out of you, Jameson.
George's daughter GWEN, awaits him at the table. She's just a simple high-school girl. But, unlike some others in her school, she actually has a promising future, as long as she continues to focus on her biology and chemistry.
GWEN
Can't you, like, arrest him for slander or something.
GEORGE
Believe me,if I could, I would. But, freedom of speech, you know.
GWEN
And the artists who sprayed his wall?
GEORGE
Freedom of expression.
GWEN
I don't know, it is still vandalism.
GEORGE
Yeah, well, it's funny so, I don't really mind.
Gwen lets out a little laugh, for a police captain, her dad definitely has his biases.
Gwen looks at the clock and nearly chokes on her food.
GWEN
I'm gonna be late!
She rushes to get her things from her room before running to the bathroom and quickly brushing her teeth.
When she leaves the bathroom, her dad hands her a small baggie.
GEORGE
You're not wasting the breakfast I made.
He hands her the bag and shoos her out of the door.
GEORGE (cont'd)
Go, go, go, before I get a call from the principal... Again.
Gwen runs off into their apartment hallway.
EXT. NEW YORK, STREETS - MOMENTS LATER
Gwen rushes out of her apartment building with her bag and jacket blowing in the wind.
She runs down to the bus stop where she watches it leave before her very eyes. She groans.
She turns back and takes a shortcut to school. She has to dodge minor traffic and some rough neighborhoods, but eventually she reaches school grounds.
The school bus made it before she did. Turns out, the shortcut was longer than she thought.
INT. SCHOOL - MOMENTS LATER
Gwen walks to her class, down the corridor.
GWEN
(Mocking her teacher)
Miss Stacy, you're late blah blah blah-
She walks into her classroom where the class are watching an Oscorp documentary about spiders.
TEACHER
Miss Stacy, you're late.
GWEN
Einstein said that time is relative, what if you're all early and I'm not actually late?
The only one to laugh at her joke is PETER. As nerdy looking as a nerd can get, although he is uncharacteristically attractive for a nerd.
She takes her seat next to Peter.
PETER
(Whispering)
You're not usually late, what happened?
GWEN
(Whispering)
Correction, I'm not usually late to THIS class.
Their teacher SHUSHES them and they separate.
GWEN
(Whispering)
So anyway, I was late because-
The teacher shushes Gwen again.
INT. SCHOOL, HALLWAY - DAY
Class is over and Gwen and Peter both leave together, Peter more clumsily than Gwen, tripping up on some students.
PETER
So, Gwen, I was thinking-
Another student bumps into him and the hallway starts to grow more popular.
GWEN
You do that often?
PETER
Ha, funny.
They walk over to their lockers which are next to each other. It was also how they first met.
PETER
Anyway, so I thought maybe we could-
A large framed guy bumps into Peter, it's Flash.
FLASH
Watch it, Parker.
PETER
You hit me.
FLASH
You wanna get smart, jackass?
GWEN
Leave him alone Flash.
FLASH
Does your girl handle all your problems?
GWEN
WOAH, okay! Get outta here!
She pushes Flash away and he walks off with his jock buddies.
Gwen opens her locker, places her books inside and brushes her hair while looking in the mirror, since she never got a chance to earlier.
GWEN
Anyway, what is it you wanted to ask?
Peter opens his locker and puts some of his books inside. The inside of his locker door is covered in pictures of the two of them together. He takes a deep breath.
PETER
Do you, maybe, wanna, I don't know...
GWEN
Are you asking me out on a date? Because I'll say yes if you have somewhere in mind.
PETER
Really! Uh, I mean, really?
GWEN
Yeah, what do you wanna do?
PETER
I was thinking... Oscorp science museum?
GWEN
Oh my god, yes!
PETER
Really? You're not being sarcastic or anything like that?
GWEN
Oh you're so dumb it's cute. When do you wanna go?
PETER
After school?
GWEN
Sure, it's a date!
PETER
Yeah! Great! Wow! Yeah, cool.
Gwen laughs and puts her brush back before grabbing her other books.
MATCH CUT TO:
INT. STACY APARTMENT - AFTERNOON
Gwen opens her wardrobe and starts searching through her clothes. Peter is sitting on her bed, waiting patiently.
PETER
Did you really need to come back here for a change of clothes?
GWEN
Yeah! I can't just go to our date looking like this!
She expressively shows off her outfit. It's basic but that doesn't mean it's bad. What matters is that she thinks it looks bad, so who are we to judge?
She grabs two kinds of casual shirts.
She walks over to Peter and pushes him.
