Moonlight city (1)

After several hours, Karl woke with a dizzy head and a bruise on his head which he got from falling down, "I am passing out too much" Karl shouted at his empty room.

Karl stood up and noticed the time on his clock 'oh no! I am gonna be late for the examination.' Karl quickly gathered himself and left his apartment.

Karl's destination was moonlight city which would take him 10 hrs to reach by the local transport but he needed to be there in 4 hrs so, Karl decided to go to the only teleportation station of his city which would cost him he's remaining 6000 credits or maybe more.

Karl stopped in front of the teleportation station of his city which was not very big whereas local teleports are built in massive sizes to house the flying ships which are runned by 2 or 3 conjurer of mid-level.

Karl stood for the entry in front of a luxuries two story building when a guard stopped him.

"Stop right there, boy. What are you doing here? This is no place for someone like you." Guard said looking Karl up and down and laughed. "Now be gone from here."

"But I am here to travel through the teleportation device." Karl said. He didn't mind if the guard looked down on him because Karl knew that he looked poor and shabby but now he had money to pay so Karl insisted.

"Boy, this station is for military officials and high ranking members of the society. Not someone like you and if we allowed you to enter then how are you going to pay for it?" the guard said.

"I think I have enough money for that" Karl said.

A young guard standing at the other side of the entrance got annoyed by Karl and said "listen man, don't waste our time and do you know how much it costs for a single use of the teleportation device. 30,000 credits, you understand and if you don't have any then piss off!" the young looking guard said.

'30,000 credits! Well I certainly don't have that much. I guess I missed my chance to enter the academy.' Karl thought and turned around to leave when he remembered that john had given him a black card which had john written on the front and contact info. at the back of the card. Karl took out that card to show to the guard if it will allow him entry the station and hopefully lessen the charges for a teleportation.

"Hey, I told you to pis—"the young guard fell to the ground on his butt with a bloody nose."Hey, what the hell man?" the young guard said to his colleague.

"SHUT UP!" the other guard said to him never taking his eyes off from the black card Karl was holding.

"Where did you get that card sir, if I may ask?" the guard said to Karl with a sweet tone and a sweat running down by the side of his head.

"A military official gave it to me" Karl said, confused at the situation.

"Sorry sir but can I see the card for a second?" the guard said. "sure." Karl said and handed over the card which the guard took very carefully.

Guard examined the card and gave it back to Karl. "We are very sorry for our behavior, sir" the guard begged to Karl and then kicked his fallen colleague who was looking at the situation with open mouth and was forced to beg for mercy.

"Ok, ok stop now" Karl had to stop them or they would have gone forever. "I just want to enter the station and there is no need for begging." Karl said to them.

The older guard bowed once again and took Karl inside the building.

The first floor of the building was a large which had decoration at the walls, grand furniture, and a reception table and at the other side of the table sat young women in tight uniform which matched the room itself.

"Welcome, sir. How may I help you?" the young women said looking at Karl with a sweet smile on the face which made Karl blush.

"I..I want to go to the moonlight city" Karl said.

"Certainly sir, and what will you use as a payment, sir?" the young women asked. At that moment the guard alongside Karl walked to the young women told her about the black card.

Karl caught a look of surprise on her face but it only stayed for a moment. She turned toward Karl and typed at the table which resulted in a shift of the surface of the table.

"Please place the card over here." the young woman said pointing out at a newly formed rectangular holder for the card. Karl placed his card on the holder and waited to see what will occur but the elevated card holder just started to descend into the table and become part of it like before leaving the card up on the table.

"Thank you for the cooperation" the young woman said with a smile and lead Karl to the second floor leaving the guard behind.

The guard sighed 'the card was a real deal, I came close to death today" the guard thought and returned to his position with exhaustion.

"Hey old man, why did you make me beg to that little brat and what is that he held that made you act like that?" the young guard said.

"Shut up if you don't want to get yourself killed." The older guard said." And that black card represented the higher ups of the military or people connected to them, so count yourself lucky for not getting killed for your behavior."

The second floor of the building was pretty much empty except a big circular ring attached to a rectangular platform in the middle of the room.

The young women walked towards the side of the circular teleporter. She removed the glove on her hand and placed her bare naked hand on a small mana stone. Karl felt high density of mana from the young women and soon the whole circular teleporter started to shine and a dark-blue layer formed inside the circular ring.

The young women stood up and walked toward him." I have set the location of the drop to moonlight city, you can now go."

" I have never once used a teleporter before, so I just jump right in?" Karl said.

"Yes and first time can be little rough so, be prepared." She said "Now go or the teleporter will close soon."

Karl walked towards the teleporter, closed his eyes and jumped right in.
