The Demon Lord Walks Among Us (Non-explicit version)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dropped. Will be rewritten at some point, but with much more work done on the plot and character development. Version 2 Probably won't be uploaded in the near-at-all future. And when it is, sometime in 2025 or whatever, it won't be on this site, most likely. I don't like the system that punishes authors for having infrequent uploads / irregular schedules. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This is the same as my other work by the same name, but with some portions removed or edited so as to make it have a less restrictive rating. I'll do my best to make the edits work well and not be jarring. A world in which humans and demons live near, but separately, divided by hatred, fear, religion, and a long canyon. A war, begun by the human lands, that ended with the assassinations of several of the demon generals and the Demon Lord. A retaliation by the demons, poisoning a river without thought of the consequences. That is the most recent continuation of the cycle of hatred, war, death, and fear. A girl, orphaned by the war, fed up with the cycle of hatred, crosses from the demon lands to the human lands. Witness her journey as an ordinary adventurer to end the cycle of war and death, as she gains her own harem and accepts the fact that she's the new Demon Lord. Witness the Demon Lord as she gets into all kinds of situations that she shouldn't have gotten into unless the goddess of fate felt miserable and wanted to distract herself. ** Note: please, for the love of everything good, cute, and fluffy, THOROUGHLY read the long-as-hell author's note (and the later edits/postscripts, which I have separated FSR) that I made be its own chapter. It's just that long, sorry. I ramble in those somewhat often, okay? It does, however, have a lot of useful information scattered around in it... ** New schedule: Nothing at all. Finally, two things. First, this is written in the style of Japanese novels, but without the honorifics... though, every now and then, I might put them in and not remember to remove them. I'll try to keep them out, just because of my personal preferences. Second, I'm sorry about the chapter naming system being screwed up and hard to follow. It ended up as stuff like "Chapter 6: Chapter 1 (3): [slight spoiler], part 2" which can be confusing. To break it down, it goes something like this: [release number] (in this case, "Chapter 6:") [chapter number the way I wrote it in a word processor] (in this case, "Chapter 1") [part number after I split the chapter to upload on this site] (in this case, "(3):") name ("[slight spoiler],") and then a potential further split due to the name, if the name applies to several parts (in this case, "part 2")
Chapter 9 (1): Marriages, numbers 1, 2, and 3
Two days passed in the blink of an eye, as wedding dresses were fitted and sewn, the script was made and then revised several times, and the venue was prepared. On the big day, Haru was the first to walk the aisle, her snow-white strapless wedding dress hanging from her ample and well displayed bosom, the golden lace at the hem reaching down to her knees, with a gap in the back for her furiously wagging tail to poke out of. The nobles watching from their prepared seats must have been quite jealous of me, but that mattered not a bit. Levia was in a sapphire blue dress that tightly hugged her body, with an open back for her royal blue wings to extend from and then wrap tightly around her as well, such that they looked like a part of the design. After a few minutes, I walked the same path that Haru did, my silvery white backless and strapless dress hugging my own curves, my wings and horns hidden, of course.
"Dearly beloved and those of importance, we are gathered here today to celebrate the union of two souls. We... you know what, you've all heard this a hundred times, and I don't wish to use the usual script due to the recent controversy regarding the church, so I'll skip to the vows" (Levia)
That got a laugh from the audience, and several people had a look of relief at the fact that the ceremony was going to take far less time than they were expecting.
"Haruveritat, of the white wolf tribe, do you swear to honor and value your partner upon your name, title, and the divine beast of your family?" (Levia)
"Under the watchful guidance of the Bone Wolf, I shall honor this oath so long as I live, on my name as the third princess, Haruveritat el Isala" (Haru)
As Haru's tail wagged up a storm, Levia turned to face me.
"And do you swear to honor and value Haruveritat, upon your own name, title, and the divine beast of your own family?" (Levia)
"Under the guidance of the Formless Warbeast, I shall honor this oath so long as I live, on my name as the Demon Lord Miryuu Maou" (Ryuu)
Just as planned, I flared my wings as the majority of the venue erupted into chaos. Well, that second part wasn't planned, but it was expected. The uproar was mostly silenced when Haru just lunged and kissed me, her hands stroking my wings for a second before they moved to my back. After that, her father took over, making a big speech.
"So what if she's the Demon Lord? She's someone I know and trust, someone who's done many great deeds for the human lands, and who Haru knows and loves. I've known who she was since I first met her a year ago, and it didn't affect my perception of her much at all. If you'd like, you could consider this to be a political marriage between our two lands, and one that had both parties grow to love one another. It's not that far from the truth, honestly, but even so..." (King)
Several minutes later, people had returned to their seats, and we got back on track... which was basically just Levia making one last joke of the entire process:
"You may now kiss the bride... wait, which is the bride and which the... hmm... two brides... uh... you may now kiss one another?" (Levia)
"We kinda already did to get the crowd under control a bit, remember?" (Ryuu)
"We can do so again, right?" (Haru)
I opened my mouth to say yes, but her lips covered mine before I could speak, her tongue entering my mouth greedily. With that, the ceremony was over, but there was still more to do, namely, two more weddings, one to Char, and one to Mae. They went about the same, save for the uproar over my identity, so I'm going to skip those. I'll just say that Mae got married in a well-tailored brown suit for some reason, an ornate sword at her waist, and that Char, ever the exhibitionist, got married in a teal blue... uh... well, I can't really call it a wedding dress, so much as something resembling a semi-sheer strapless nightgown that barely hid the important parts. Actually, even those were exposed if you saw them from the correct angle, in the case of her nipples, from below and a bit to the side, for other parts, it was only when she spun quickly that you could get a glimpse, and then they couldn't be seen long enough to get a good look.
The wedding reception included three massive cakes, plenty of other food and drinks, and musicians playing several different songs, including the national anthem of the human lands in celebration of the third princess getting married, but also songs suited to dancing (and/or anthem spells), such as Firelight Flight, Whirlwind Waltz, and I even, on my own, played the Song of Silence. That had several people wondering what I was doing, but the musicians who heard it understood and most were in awe of my skill at playing that. However, for the songs where I wasn't playing them, I was often dancing with my new wives and/or other people, often chatting, well, answering questions, while doing so.
"So, what's it like being the Demon Lord? I'd imagine it's not that easy, considering that you have to manage the entire territory of the demon lands" (Earl... hell if I know his name)
"It's pretty easy, actually. I have enough skilled aides that they can handle everything by themselves. I make the policies, the big picture stuff, and they put it into action and handle the minutiae. I also handle the foreign relations, I guess. Most of the time, I'm having fun as an adventurer, though that might be over, more or less, now that my identity has been revealed?" (Ryuu)
"How'd you meet the two other girls, Mae and Charlotte?" (Baron somethingorother)
"Well, they were my roommates at the adventurer training school, alongside Elise, who you can sorta see hiding in the corner there... excuse me, I gotta help her out, she's really not a fan of public gatherings, but many people seem to be attracted to shy girls like moths to a flame" (Ryuu)
"You're so nice and pretty, I wouldn't have ever dreamed that you might be a demon or the Demon Lord. I'm going to have to rethink my entire perspective on what they're like" (Another Baron)
"That's the case with most people in the human lands, actually. Have fun trying to make a better perspective to see things through!" (Ryuu)
"So, I heard about this adventurer party of seven the other day, called The Demon Lord's Harem. Is that three wives and four mistresses for you?" (Duke he never introduced himself)
"No, that's me, three wives as of today, and three more who will become my wives once we go back to the demon lands and get married there, because that's where they were born and raised for two of them, and the third decided she wanted to be married there too. I'm not entirely sure as to why she did, however" (Ryuu)
"Not going to ask her?" (Duke)
"Eh, she's always been a wanderer since she was born, in a way. Since she has wings, it'd be easier to get married there, so I guess that's the reason, and I see no reason to ask if she doesn't bring it up herself" (Ryuu)
Next up... I don't know, I haven't written it yet!
EDIT: Well, I banged out a few more parts in the week since I wrote the above note... but I'm still going to reduce the release rate... I think. I know it's unsustainable, but I don't want to deprive you all of your enjoyment. I won't see you ghost reading next week, but you'll see more of this to ghost read then!
