CHAPTER 87: DINNER OR BLIND DATE

Are you sure?" Charlie asked.
"Yeah, I will use the opportunity to make them jealous and regret the day they chased me out of my own father's house and company. All I just need is your cooperation" Eve said smirking.
"Okay I will do whatever you tell me to do" Charlie said as a nine year old who is been told what to do by his mother.
"Join me and watch this show, it's very interesting!" Eve said reverting back to her jolly mood.
"Okay" Charlie said happy that Eve is back to her usual jolly self. He sighs and faces the TV watching and laughing with Eve at the funny scenes in the show.
They watched the show for some while then they headed to bed. Immediately Charlie saw that Eve has slept, he stood up and went to his study room to inform her uncle that they would be attending the dinner.
After that he continues to work on the remaining documents until 12am, he closes his laptop and goes back to their room to join Eve. He sees Eve sleeping peacefully, he hugs her and drifts off to sleep.

Day of the dinner....
At Anderson's Mansion.....
"Make sure everything is perfect, I won't tolerate any mistakes" Sofia said talking to the maids organizing the food for the dinner or should I say blind date?.
"Is everything set?" George asked his wife while coming down from the stairs.
"Almost dear" Sofia said.
"Be fast because Charles called me saying that they would be here in 30 minutes" George said.
"No problem, everything will be set before they are here, I need to go and check on our daughter if she is ready yet" Sofia said.
"Okay go on, I will take care of things here" George said.
Adriana's room...
Adriana was checking herself in the mirror when she heard a faint knock on the door.
"Come in" Adriana said turning towards the direction of the door.
"Hello dear, are you done dressing up?" Sofia asked lovingly while approaching Adriana.
"Yes mom, what do you think?" Adriana asked her mother turning around to show her mom her dress.
"You look beautiful and breathtaking, all you have to do now is to try and get Charles attention" Sofia told her daughter.
"Don't worry mom I will make sure I get Charles to like me" Adriana told her mother assuringly. As they were discussing they both heard the door bell.
"Okay, remain here until we call for you downstairs, okay?" Sofia said.
"Okay" Adriana said and nodded and Sofia leaves the room to join her husband to welcome the guest.
The living room in Anderson's mansion......
"You are welcome to our humble abode" George greeted Charlie smiling foolishly.
"Thank you" Charlie said without any emotion.
"This is my wife Sofia, you meet at the last dinner party" George said.
"Hello" Sofia greeted.
Charlie didn't respond to her greeting but they didn't mind it at all.
"Let's go inside, my daughter was happy to learn that you are coming over for dinner and is excited" George said.
"Why would she be excited to see me not her own cousin?" Charlie asked frowning his face.
George"..."
Sofia"..."
Charlie's question through them off guard and they didn't know how to answer that question.
"Don't mind that dear, let's go inside" Eve said wrapping her hand around Charlie's arm and both of them walk inside the mansion.
"Adriana! Your cousin and Charles is here!" Sofia called and a while later an innocent looking lady coming down from the stairs happily.
"Hello" Adriana said smiling.
Charlie didn't pay any attention to Adriana and it brought about an awkward situation but was immediately cubed by Sofia telling them dinner will be served soon.
"Settle down dinner would soon be dished for us to eat. Eve come let's go dish out the food and your cousin will stay and entertain Charles" Sofia said looking at Eve.
"Why would I go and Adriana gets to stay behind?" Eve asked suspiciously.
"Cousin Eve, don't worry I will take care of our guest so you can go with mom" Adriana said hiding the happiness she is feeling inside.
"I and my husband are the guests that's the more reason I must be the one with him" Eve said smirking.
"Enough! Don't be rude to the guest and just come with me while Adriana will show Charles around the house" Sofia said shunning Eve but before Eve could say anything Charlie interrupted her.
"I would like my wife to show me around" Charlie said with his usual cold tone and his poker face that you can't tell what he is thinking.
"Adriana just go with your mom and serve the food" George said immediately in other not to incure Charles's anger because he sensed he was becoming impatient.
"Okay dad" Adriana stood up and follows her mom to the kitchen holding back her anger.
Eve is beyond ecstatic because of of the look on Adriana and her aunt's face but she didn't show it.
"Come let me show you my room when I was here" Eve said dragging Charlie towards the stairs. Charlie as an obedient husband followed behind her.
Eve brought him to a door, she opens it and they both went in. Inside the room Charlie could see a picture of Eve and her parents. In the picture they were smiling happily and Eve appeared to be young in the picture. He picks up the picture and rubs his hand through it.
Eve saw Charlie with the picture and said, "that picture was taken a month before the car accident" she said holding back her tears. Charlie moves close to her and hugs her.
"I will make sure to protect you and make sure you live a happy and comfortable life" Charlie said and kissed her forehead. Charlie and Eve were about to kiss again but this time on the lips but the door was suddenly opened and Adriana and her mother came in.
"Dinner is ready" Sofia said.
"Okay we will be down in a bit" Eve said waiting for them to leave the room. Adriana and her mother felt reluctant to leave the room but gave up and left. Actually they have been outside the door listening to Eve and Charlie's conversation because they were worried something else would happen and they barged in at the right time before anything would happen.
Ten minutes later Eve and Charlie joins them at the dinning room.
"Now we are all here let's eat" George said and everyone began to eat. Charlie keeps on putting food in Eve's plate and this didn't go unnoticed by someone, Adriana clenched her fists suppressing her anger.
"So Charles about the contract my daughter brought to your company last time how do you see it?" George asked.
Charlie looked up and said, " it seems promising but I will go with whatever my wife's decision is" he said looking at Eve lovingly.
George"..."
Sofia"..."
Adriana"..."
George seeing that Charles seem to leave the decision to Eve he turns to Eve to sweet talk her into as agreeing to the contract.
"Dear, what do you say? You should agree to it" George said.
"Why should I agree to it?" Eve asked shocking everyone except Charlie.
"What do you mean by that Eve?" Sofia was the one that asked that question.
"I was prevented from been involved in the company, oh.. wait.. I was denied my right in the company by you people and now you want me to get my husband award you people a contract.. pfft.. dream on!" Eve said while looking at her so called relatives disdainfully.
"Look at this ungrateful brat! After we trained you, feed you and even clothed you it's only right you help us in get this deal as thank you for taking care of you" Sofia shouted at Eve.
"When did you treat me well since I was in this house, you all even plotted to kill me and you expect me to happily grant you this contract! You all make me sick!" Eve said.
"You..." Sofia was about to continue but was stopped by Charlie's next words.
"You dare insult my.. WIFE?" Charlie said stressing the word 'wife' and the temperature of the dinning room becomes cold.
Everyone becomes scared except Eve who said to Charlie, "let's go I sick and tired of these people" she said standing up from her seat.
Charlie followed suit but stopped midway and turned back and said, "my company will not sign the contract and don't disturb me about any collaboration again in the nearest future because I will never agree to it" he said and both him and Eve left the mansion leaving the stunned family at the dinning table.
