The Bone Hero, Jokara

The world of villains and heroes. Something right out of comic books. But for these people, it's a reality. And it's nowhere near as fun as the comics make it seem. Tag along with Jokara, an enigma even in his own world, as he tries to discover some kind of meaning and drive for himself. Disclaimer: Jokara will become a hero. But at the same time, his actions will often be very questionable for a hero, as well as a villain. (This is my first story. In my opinion, it's really not that good, and I want to get much better. Please keep that in mind as you read it. I would seriously appreciate constructive criticism, but please don't be a dick about it.)

Chapter 34: More Bad News

(Daily Music: King Me- Daddyphatsnaps)

... Why did Kota have to be the one to be targeted? Out of the billions of people in the world. It had to be him. An innocent child. Was it not enough that his parents were killed at a young age?

I would cry, but my tear ducts ran out of tears several hours ago from doing just that. The tear marks were still just as visible as when the tears started.

It's like a sick, twisted joke. A child's parents are killed by someone, only to be killed by that exact same person years later and you can't even defend yourself.

I was put out of my thinking by a sound.

A knock at my door.

"What?", I ask.

"... Sweetie, it's me", I heard the voice of Mom 2 (Mandalay) say.

"... Come in.", I told her.

She gently opened the door. I could tell she had been crying as well. That was expected. Kota is... was.. family to her and the others as well.

She sat next to me on the bed, and gently pulled me into a hug.

Normally, this would feel nice, and calm me down.

But right now, I feel nothing. No comfort. No warmth. No reassurance. I just feel empty.

"What the villains did to Kota is unforgivable. You should know that when we find them, we won't let them get away with it. They won't harm anyone ever again", she said.

"Won't let them get away with it"

Like I'll believe that.

As much as it hurts me to say it, even my parents aren't an exception to the Heroes who wouldn't kill a villain. Even though Kota died, those scumbags won't be killed. All because of some stupid fucking moral code bullshit.

I can't take it anymore.

"... Liar.", I muttered.

"Hm?"

"... You're lying. No matter what happens, no matter what those scum do, you and all other Heroes still refuse to actually put a proper end to them. All you do is show up to the scene, pose for the cameras, look good for the fans, have a fancy battle with the villains, throw them in jail, and call it a day.", I said.

She didn't respond verbally, only looking to the floor, seeming to think of something.

"All because of what? Some stupid. Fucking. Code. You all call yourselves grand saviours of the people, swearing to alleviate their worries and concerns, but you stop yourselves from actually being useful because of some made up rules to give yourselves the irrelevant comfort that you stand on a moral pedestal.", I continued.

All my hate, my anger, my resentment. I wasn't going to hide it anymore.

And so, all my frustration came forward.

"If Heroes actually got rid of the scum that don't deserve to live, then incidents like tonight never would have happened!! Kota wouldn't be a fucking corpse!! You, me, Tiger, Pixie-Bob, Ragdoll and Kota would be out there, at the dinner table, laughing, chatting, talking about our day!! But because you all see morality as more important than the lives of innocents, he's dead!!", I yelled.

I took myself out of her hug.

By now, the tears had come back.

"BECAUSE OF THAT, MY FIVE YEAR OLD LITTLE BROTHER IS GOING TO BE BURIED IN THE FUCKING GROUND, BECAUSE YOU AND ALL OTHER HEROES REFUSE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN FEAR OF LOSING POPULARITY!!", I yelled, louder this time.

She didn't say anything. Or try to, for that matter. She just stared down.

I left the room. I couldn't handle this. I needed to go outside.

As I was going out, I overheard Tiger and Pixie Bob talking.

"They took her?!", Tiger's voice resounded.

Who are they referring to?

"They must have ambushed her during her patrol!", Pixie Bob's voice sounded out.

Wait a minute..

Mom 3 (Ragdoll) was on patrol before and during the time the villains attacked....

No... no...

I can't lose two! Not in one night! Not ever!

I need a way to track Ragdoll's scent. Ryujin is perfect.

But I doubt that his sense would go far enough to detect exactly where she is.

But, if Ryujin kills without using his venom, everything about him gets stronger, including his senses.

I whistled for Ryujin, picked him up when he got to me, dashed into the forest as my maximum speed, and found him as many animals to kill as possible in the shortest amount of time.

During his rapid upgrade spree, he underwent a lot of changes. First of all, in the end, he got 25 metres long in total, his teeth got over 20 times sharper, his muscles got even more powerful than that, and his skin went from a pale brown to a white colour.

When he upgraded, I told him to follow me to Ragdoll's usual patrol routes. He was able to keep up with my speed now thanks to his upgrades.

We got to her patrol routes, and I told him to search for her scent and to track where it went.

He used his forked tongue to smell the air, and then went dashing in a certain direction. I dashed after him, following him.

Unknown to a small group of UA's students who had snuck out to try and retrieve Bakugou, their kidnapped classmate, the police force, the Alumni of UA, the League Of Villains and the public, tonight was going to be the debut of something very special.

A night that would forever be remembered by one name.

The Night Of The Demon.
