Chapter 16: Training of the Chamber

Half a month has already passed and I have grown much stronger from when I arrived.

"Levantes, you are almost on the 10th Class, you may be ready for the chamber." Socrates placed his hand on my shoulder and got down on one knee. His facial expression didn't tell me much of his thoughts however his body language told me he was going to warn me about something. "Levantes, only a few people have survived the training of the chamber."

How reassuring.

"I shall be the fifth." I said calmly.

Although I was sure that I wasn't normal, it didn't mean that I was going to be the fifth to survive the "chamber". With only a couple of weeks left until the academy starts and with the amount of strength and magic I have now, I wouldn't be able to fight against the King's guards let alone the Emperors.

"Alright then, you are a genius after all," Socrates chuckled.

It was my first time seeing Socrates make any facial expressions. I cast a glance at Azreal who stood behind Socrates. He looked more confused than I was however he didn't move from his position.

Socrates then stood up and turned around and walked towards the door. Two of his servants opened the door and Azreal followed him. Azreal looked back at me with a smile. Aesira also followed the others and all of them left me.

I stood in the hall, staring back at them blankly.

"This is the chamber, Levantes, try to survive."

The doors closed on me and darkness devoured everything.

I couldn't see anything. Not a single thing. It was all dark with no evidence that light even existed. I stood in the dark.

I couldn't tell what was around me. My eyes grew heavy however when I blinked, there was no difference.

"LEVANTES!"

I heard someone call my name. I looked around to see who it was and all there was was darkness.

"LEVANTES!"

I heard them call me again. For some reason, my heart shook whenever I heard their voice. I didn't recognise the voice but I feared it. It felt warm whenever I heard it however I feared it. I didn't know why but I did.

"LEVANTES!"

I heard it again. I was sure of it now that it was a woman. A woman was calling out to me. A warm feeling inside but my heart sank whenever I heard it. There was no doubt that it was my mother. This must be part of the chamber's training.

Of course! It makes sense! How did I not realise it before?

Now that I couldn't see anything, my perception of time wasn't normal. I couldn't tell how much time had passed. I couldn't describe how long it has been.

It felt like hours had passed since I last heard the woman's voice however it felt like only a few minutes had passed.

I then felt a sharp stinging feeling in my left leg. It felt like I had been stabbed however I

felt no blood come out. I had tried for the past…I had tried to use my magic to emit any type of light however it didn't worked.

My body felt mortal again. I sat down on what I thought was the ground however it wasn't hard. The ground I was now sitting on was soft and liquidy, like water.

The ground below me moved around like water however it felt thicker than water. I then fell back into the liquid. I tried to bring myself back up however I couldn't. The liquid devoured me. My torso was engulfed in the liquid and soon my hand was as well. I could feel it. I could feel the liquid. My mouth was then covered.

No…it can't be!

I then felt the weight of the liquid. My legs were crushed and I felt it. I felt my legs being crushed and I couldn't scream. No one was there to help me. My mouth was covered so I couldn't scream, all I could do was endure the pain.

Please…someone…help…me…

I felt tears drip from my eyes and slide off of my cheek.

Huh? Tears?

* * * * * *

How long has it been?

Oh yeah. I don't know.

I couldn't feel the crushing of the liquid anymore.

I don't know how long it has been but my bones were crushed then gone back to normal, then crushed, this process was done repeatedly and now I don't feel the pain anymore.

Huh?

My body was completely devoured by the liquid. I felt as if I was drowning in the sea. I couldn't breathe and whenever I opened my mouth, bubbles came out.

What the heck is this?

My body was being crushed. I felt it, the pressure. Again, I tried to scream but I couldn't. All I could do was endure the pain.

Again and again.

With no stopping. No time for me to catch my breath.

All I could do was endure.

* * * * * *

I couldn't feel the pain anymore. The pain was gonna but my bones were still being crushed. I didn't know what to feel. I was drowning but I didn't do anything to stop myself from drowning and my bones were being crushed at the same time.

Could such a feeling be explained?

Huh?

I could see it.

I COULD SEE IT! THE LIGHT! FINALLY!

I reached out to the light with my arm. I tried to grab it but I couldn't. I could feel my face make smile and I couldn't stop it. My body tingled with joy.

I finally could see.

I tried to swim to it but the faster I swam, the further the light became. After I realised this, I stopped swimming.

I stopped and admired the light in awe. I looked at my body. My skin was pale white but I could finally see!

No…NOOO!

I fell into the darkness and the light became further and further.

NOOOO! I CAN'T! PLEASE!

I fell onto something. It hurt for a bit but the pain went in an instant. I sat in the darkness.

I don't know how much time passed as I sat on something I couldn't see.

I then saw the sun. The blazing sun shinishone on me. My face lit up. I smiled at the sun however something blocked the sun.

It was a person. It was a man with a muscular physique. His skin was a dark beige and he wore a purple robe.

"Levantes, get up and fight!" He roared.

Who is this guy?

A spear appeared in his hands and he held it tightly. He then pointed it at my heart and pierced it.

I shrieked in pain as he slowly dug the spear into my heart. I felt it slowly pierce my skin. I felt the blood oozing out of my body. I felt my body allow the spear to touch my heart. I felt it. With each beat, my heart touched the cold spear.

I then heard a squelching sound. My heart was no longer beating and the light faded from my eyes.

I felt my head touch the ground and I quickly sat up. The man wasn't there but only darkness. Everything was gone. My heart was beating faster than usual however I was alive. Although I was still in the darkness, I was alive and that was the only thing that mattered.

* * * * * *

"FUCK!" I yelled at the top of my voice. "FUCK!" I yelled again.

It echoed almost infinitely and each time was louder than the last. I heard my own voice louder than I have ever heard anything.

I felt something warm come out of my ears. I touched it.

It was warm.

My own voice was rupturing my eardrums and it bled and bled. It didn't stop bleeding until I felt my body being soaked out of its nutrients. I fainted but my eyes were still open. I had a headache now.

I lay down in my own blood. My head-splitting headache was too painful to endure but I had no choice but to endure it.

"I want to die." I muttered silently so that it didn't echo.

"I didn't choose this." I sobbed quietly.

I had remembered where I was. I was training but what type of training was this? This was no training.

"THIS IS TORTURE!" I yelled so loud to the point that I felt my lungs burst.

I then heard shrieking.

My body fell to the ground and my conscience left me.

* * * * * *

I woke up.

Ah, darkness. My only friend to be with me the whole time.

Had I gone mad? I was now accepting darkness as my friend? Have I truly gone insane?

No. No, I haven't.

It was darkness who stayed with me. Everyone left me.

Even though it isn't even a living thing it still stayed with me while everyone left me!

"EVERYONE LEFT!" I yelled. "EVERYONE LEFT ME WITH THIS FUCKING TORTURE!"

Forget it. There's no one to hear. No one to hear me scream. No one to hear me cry.

No one.

"How long has it been?" I asked myself.

I sat down on the ground and meditated.

I've gone insane. I should stop it with meditation.

* * * * * *

What the hell happened?

I found myself meditating. My legs were crossed and my hand were placed on my thighs. I held my thighs tightly and they soon started to hurt. I held them tighter and tighter.

Crunch!

A crisp crunching sound resonated in my ears. I had crushed my thighs.

Fuck this.

I stood up from the ground. Walked around to stay active. If I sat down any longer I might have gone insane again. I ran around.

This is fun. Why didn't I do this from the start?

I ran for as long as I could. It seems I didn't have the infinite stamina that I had before. Nevertheless, I still ran. I ran even though I huffed and blood ran down my nose. I ran even though I felt my lungs bursting out of my rib cage. I still ran, enduring all the pain.

What the hell am I doing?

I fainted again.

* * * * * *

I don't know how long I had stood for. My legs were aching and they were about to collapse I laughed.

I laughed hysterically and I didn't know why.

"Why am I laughing?!" I yelled as I laughed maniacally.

I was on all fours on the ground.

How did this happen?

I lifted my head and smashed it on the ground.

Why? Why am I doing this?

I lifted my head and smashed it. I felt every ounce of pain but I didn't stop.

I cackled as I smashed my head.

Again and again, I smashed my head. I didn't stop until my eyes fell out of their sockets.

I fainted, again.

* * * * * *

What was I doing?

I lay down on the cold ground. My arms were behind my head, holding it like a pillow as I stared into the darkness.

I felt my arms twitch.

"What now?" I asked.

The darkness stared back at me as my hands went to my chest.

I stood up and my fingers dug deep into my chest. I ripped my chest apart and I found my heart. I heard it beating. I pulled my heart out and before I could do anything I fainted.
