Standing on top of one of Uzushio's highest buildings, Rimuru sat on the edge of it looking down on the whole village
he has been there for a while now, overlooking the place
everything he has to do now is wait, wait for the war that the villages will wage on Uzushio, and then crush them
wait for Black Zetsu to bring Kaguya back and crush her, and then all will be perfect
Isshiki wont ne a treat in less than 20 years, so will the rest of the Otsutsuki clan
so he just needs to wait, he is strong enough to achieve his goals now, as for what he will do after that? that's a problem for future him to deal with
*Step step*
In this quiet place, where the only sound was the wind blowing on constantly, Rimuru easily hears the footsteps of someone approaching
"Hello there, Nagato" He greeted, without even looking back
yes, it was Nagato who Rimuru called here actually
"Rimuru san, you called me?" Nagato asked, obviously meaning 'Why did you call me?'
Rimuru motioned for Nagato to walk closer to yhe edge, where he could oversee the village as well
the village was big, and you could see a lot of people walking everywhere, making the place look quute lively
albeit, from this height they looked like ants, but this doesn't matter
"What do you see?" Rimuru asked Nagato, who was lost in the view
"...I see the village you built, people walking around happily..." Nagato described what he saw to Rimuru who not once looked at him
not that he minded that, for anyone this would be taken as rude, but he felt like there was a lit of things he didn't know about Rimuru, the way he sees the world is quite different from his afterall
"Do you... truly believe in that?" Rimuru's unexpected question caught Nagato off guard
"Believe... in what?" He asked back
"That those people are happy to be here?" Clarified Rimuru
"...I do, should I not?" Nagato answered
*Wind sounds*
The wind blew stronger as Rimuru kept silent for a bit, making Nagato think about his question
surely some people will find it strage to be here, surely one or two will miss their old home, but in general, shouldn't everyone be happy?
But, before he could think more about it, Rimuru spoke again
"Sigh... if only...
people from Ame, miss their old home, the place where they had all of their good memories, and even the bad ones, because they miss the people they lost there
people from Roran, they are obviously not happy, not only have they passed by a big tragic war before coming here, losing many, but they had been betrayed by someone they trusted, making them quite wary of everyone now
people from the land of demons... they have a lot of reactions, some question why their mission was over, some miss their home and some just don't like to have to come here because of someone's order" Rimuru resumed a bit of everyone on the village
"If course, there are some people who like it here, a lot of them... but, in this entire village... maybe only 4 or 5 people are truly happy" Rimuru said, surprising Nagato
"Only 4 or 5?" He asked
"You and Konan, who are living what ypu two always wanted to, that is, givinf your people a better future, Touka and Blizzard who are my subordinates who are always happy it seems and maybe Shion who is the daughter of the Land of demons part of the town leader, because she is a kid and that's normal for them... so, 5 in total I would say"
Nagato took in those words and thought about them, surely they made sense but, there is no way only 5 out of hundreds of people are truly happy, right?... right?
He couldn't help but think that this was true, Rimuru had time and again proved him wrong in thinghs he felt like he was right, maybe that was one of those times again?
"Wait... you are not included on those 5?" He noticed that Rimuru didn't mention himself when talking about truly haopy people, wich was odd
Rimuru smiled wryly
"I do not deserve it.
people like me, can't be happy" He answered
'At least, for now...' he thought, thinking about how annoying it is that he needs to wait for so long to do something he already has enough strength to do
But, Nagato took his words differently
to him, Rimuru was a true god, like he said before, he had the power of one, the wisdom of one and used it to give other people better lifes
albeit all of that was true, he never did it on purpose, it was just a happy coincidence, not that Nagato could have know that...
Maybe, just maybe he is unhappy that the world is still a bad place?
such a thought made it's way to Nagato's head, he thought Rimuru's words had some noble meaning behind them, because that's hiw he sees him
he looked back to where Rimuru was, only to see an empty spot, so he left as well shortly after
and like this, Nagato once again had a misinterpretation of Rimuru's character, but as the 'Leader' of this village, he would end up spreading this as the truth
and like so, the village build on top of lies, once again was glued togheter by Nagato
This had to be done every so often, or this whole facade of a village would have collapsed a long time ago
what Rimuru had said was half truth g
half lie, off all the people here, the people of Roran had almost no complains about the place, since Sarah herself took her time ti explain to them why they left Roran
Nagato and Konan, albeit they didn't do much, but their very presence here made people of Ame not hate the idea of being here
the only people who had some sort of problem being here was the people of the land of demons, but they didn't do much about it
the problem is, a chain is only as strong as it's weakest link, so this balance was very weak
if the people of the land if demons ever did something about their feelings of not wanting to be here, the people of Roran would want to go back to their village/city, as there was never something like this there, and the war traumatized people of Ame would also want to leave here
Rimuru had thought about removing them from here a lot of times, but they made up almost half of the people from here, and without them, looking from above he could easily see that this village was a hollow place, without many people as well
and if this place was easily seen as a fake place, then he had no use for it, luckly for the people of this village though, there was a war on the horizon, and this was a great chance og them getting closer because of difficulties
or else they would have been discarded
this is quite ironic really, for as much as Nagato was a extremist, he was not completely wrong
for pain was needed, because a truly perfect place would never be able to exist, which is something of human nature
humans would aways want more than they have
if slimes are tge embodiment of glutonny for they consume everything on their way, then Humans are the embodiment of greed, for they desire everything they place their eyes upon
