Chapter 26 The Basics of the Sword

"SHK!"

"VMM!"

A sword slashed through the air as the sun rose over the horizon. Wang Haotian was practicing The Basics of the Sword as he slashed the air. Bit by bit his slashes increased in intensity, till finally he pierced forward in a powerful motion.

"PIERCE!" He shouted as his sword pierced the air, immediately two trees in front of him were sliced into two. This also caused other disturbances.

"What happened!" Yang Yu awoke with fright. Zhao Shen also opened his eyes grabbing his axe. Chen Feng on the tree quickly got his bow ready, but Wang Haotian on the ground just rubbed the back of his head awkwardly.

"Sorry about that, I kind of forgot where we were." Wang Haotian uttered, immediately all their gazes soured before gazing at Wang Haotian as if he was a fool. "I don't know how you're ranked No.1 with your level of intelligence to be honest." Yang Yu stated before rising off the ground and pulling out his spear.

Almost simultaneously a few roars were heard in the distance. "That attack awoke the beasts." Chen Feng remarked before nocking a few arrows. "Well at least he brought breakfast to us, I am starving!" Zhao Shen said while getting his axe ready.

Soon a massive wolf appeared, its fur grey and its claws sharp. It stood 2 meters tall and 3 meters long, it was even bigger than Zhao Shen.

"Grade 2 Grey Wolf, not even a challenge." Wang Haotian stated as he pointed his azure blade towards the wolf. Seeing this Zhao Shen and Chen Feng both relaxed as they put their weapons away, Yang Yu on the other hand was still wary. 'Its a Grade 2 Demon Beast, and he hasn't even gone through Qi Inscription yet, he may be No.1 but should he really be taking it so lightly?' Yang Yu thought as he held Midnight close.

Seeing Wang Haotian's sword, the wolf felt provoked. It locked its eyes with Wang Haotian's as it examined its prey. As they gazed at each other, the wolf released its Demonic Energy causing the air to quake slightly, in response Wang Haotian stood still as he pointed his sword at the wolf.

Perceiving no threat from him, the wolf slashed out with its claw tearing through the air. In less than a second it was at Wang Haotian's face only a millimetre away, when the wolf stopped in its tracks.

"River Piercing Sword." Wang Haotian muttered as a massive hole appeared in the wolf's claw and head. Seeing this even Chen Feng and Zhao Shen were shocked. 'That, his power at least increased by 10%.' Chen Feng speculated.

"Thud"

The wolf's body fell as Wang Haotian sheathed his sword. After doing so he bowed lightly towards Yang Yu. "Thank you Junior for that manual." Wang Haotian said, leaving Yang Yu confused.

Yang Yu himself wasn't very clear on Wang Haotian's power so he wasn't very clear on the change, but Chen Feng and Zhao Shen were stunned. 'What kind of heavenly manual could that be?' Zhao Shen thought dumbfoundedly as he gazed towards Yang Yu.

Seeing this Yang Yu felt a headache coming his way. 'What kind of manual did you write down?' Yang Yu thought while Yun Zhu chuckled to the side. "I really did just write The Basics of the Sword, who knew it would have such an effect." Yun Zhu answered while stroking his long beard.

Hearing this Yang Yu didn't know what to say. Was Yun Zhu's spiritual wisdom so great, that his manuals could induce enlightenment? That would be absurd.

After nearly a minute of thinking, Zhao Shen walked towards Yang Yu. "Junior Brother, may I have a copy of the manual you gave Wang Haotian?" Zhao Shen asked shamelessly as he locked eyes with Yang Yu.

"....Fine, but you guys owe me all a favour, you're lucky I am not as shameless as you all or I might even ask for your Strength Enhancing fruits." Yang Yu joked before walking off. "I'll be back in about 5 minutes." He continued before disappearing amidst the trees.

"What manual did he give you?" Chen Feng asked as he jumped off the branch. "The Basics of the Sword." Wang Haotian simply replied. "Wait really?" Zhao Shen replied with in immense confusion.

"Seriously, I don't know how or why, but The Basics of the Sword he gave me imparted a sense of enlightenment onto me, the entire night as I kept watch I trained and felt my sword skills progressing." Wang Haotian explained.

"I've read The Basics of the Bow, and even trained in it, but I didn't feel much of a visible effect, it definitely helped my foundations though." Chen Feng mused.

Soon after Yang Yu came back with two manuals, one read, The Basics of the Axe, the other read, The Basics of the Bow and Arrow. "Here you go." Yang Yu said as he handed them both their respective manuals.

"Thank you Junior Brother."

"Thanks."

They both replied, before reading their manuals. It was very basic but also very specific, outlining the details of how the moves should be performed and the differences between each. 'This is The Basics of the Bow and Arrow I know, but also, it isn't, the detail and the differences, along with how the information itself is presented, makes it intrinsically different.' Chen Feng thought as he read this.

After a few minutes Yang Yu grew weary. "Guys, there's a wolf corpse right there, and we're quite deep in the 10,000 Beasts Forest, don't you think we should either clean it up, or get a move on?" Yang Yu chimed in as Zhao Shen and Chen Feng both nodded.

"Sorry, I was a bit distracted, I'll make breakfast now." Zhao Shen replied. "As was I." Chen Feng said as he put away the manual. "I'll be the lookout." He added, before jumping onto a tree branch, bow and arrow in hand.

'Why are they so surprised by the manuals?' Yang Yu thought, as he shook his head. Off to the side Wang Haotian could barely hold in his laughter. 'This Junior, he's a breath of fresh air.' Wang Haotian thought before gazing at the Grey Wolf.

"I'll go get some materials." He said before walking off. "Wait, I 'll come help." Yang Yu said, before catching up with Wang Haotian.
